Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 135: Chapter 6 Kill That Demon_2

”Is it really okay to take delight in others’ misfortune? Every time Hill heard their conversations, he wondered, what kept this alliance together until now?”

Hill could sense that Mr. Demon was frightened.

He stood still for a while.

”Never mind!” Snow Cloud Peak yelled, ”Everyone, hide! Mages, patch up the ice wall if you can! Find somewhere to stay, and those unlucky enough to get squashed, wait until there are fewer people before rising!”

”Baldy, you bastard! Stand with me! Why are you running?” Snow Cloud Peak shouted fiercely.

”No way~~” A pretentious voice rang out, ”I’m still too young! I can’t stay with brother anymore~”

”Damn baldy!”

”Why are you only blaming me?” Baldy, reverting to his usual voice, yelled, ”Young Master, didn’t we hide the ink brush below! I’ve already died once!”

”Do you think I haven’t been watching the world?” Snow Cloud Peak angrily said, ”Lead the way, the ones in the middle are mine, it’s all your gang’s fault!”

Baldy quietly ran off, leaving only Snow Cloud Peak likely still standing alone above, observing the situation.

In the beech’s sensory perception, one could already see large groups of player corpses falling through the broken ice cap.

The beech had already raised its branches to whip away those that fell towards their heads.

”Just resurrect if you’re dead!” Snow Cloud Peak, relying on tough movements, was still alive, ”Hurry and resurrect at the nearby church!

Can you stand seeing bodies everywhere? Have the demons scared you senseless?”

Yes, the ice wall hadn’t been smashed for a while, and the chaotic demons, all piled on the ice wall, watched the rain of human corpses.

But Hill didn’t think they were scared senseless; they were waiting to devour the souls of the dead humans!

Unfortunately, the players’ method of soul projection, if they resurrected immediately, even their bodies would instantly vanish in a flash of light.

All that effort to kill 10,000, and not a single soul to devour—0.0.

The demon moved; he had also been standing for a long time. Probably because he hadn’t bitten into a single soul orb, he was starting to regain some appetite.

Hill concentrated his spirit, waiting for it to come closer.

The players’ blizzard concealed a lot for Hill, despite passing multiple times, the demon never noticed the significant increase in leaves.

When it passed again between the diner and the woods, Hill focused his spirit and unleashed the Array.

Countless green leaf blades blocked all escape routes, pinning the demon firmly to the ground.

Hill quietly sensed the demon’s transition from desperate struggles to complete silence, and finally, a wisp of soulfire tried to flee back to the Abyss but was utterly destroyed by the continued bombardment of leaf blades.

Hill tightly clutched the pendant on his chest; this was the first intelligent life to die at his hands.

The power of the Wood Element, with the demon’s complete death, began to slowly drift away, settling around the woods.

Hill somewhat speechlessly felt the withered roses and the numerous seeds fallen in the soil, all being stimulated by the immense Wood Element force.

It seems a bit too forceful!

Hill felt a bit guilty thinking, killing a demon for the first time, not familiar with it. Were these two spells a bit strong?

The players had already noticed what was happening here; someone came over with a shield to check, ”There’s a demon inside! Mages, pay attention to the wall!”

”All water elementals are freezing next to the wall!” a mage shouted, ”I want to do it too! I could even do it face to face with a demon!”

Hill watched as that Sky Knight, shield on helmet, sat down on his butt in the rose bushes, tapping on a tablet, and felt somewhat heartbroken for him.

Snow Cloud Peak soon came over by himself.

”Why aren’t you continuing to squat on the rooftop?” that Sky Knight asked him casually.

”Get lost!” Snow Cloud Peak glanced at the unrecognizable demon, looking around, ”Mr. Hill, what kind of demon is this?”

”I don’t know.” The beech transmitted Hill’s words, with a slightly fluttery voice that startled both, ”Don’t worry about it, it got in while you were making the ice wall, it’s very fast and stealthy, it ran several circles around your territory.”

”Lucky you unleashed a blizzard everywhere, this must be a fire attribute demon, afraid of the cold. That’s why he sought refuge on my side.”

”Snow Cloud Peak, the demon has started smashing the wall again!” someone shouted.

”Where are the mages? Don’t forget to patch up the wall! Have everyone retreated to the side of the wall yet?”

”The water mages are sticking close to the wall! The Sky Knight is guarding nearby, they should be unkillable.”

Hill blinked, realizing that amid their jesting and scolding, they had already completed a shift, with all the guild members now standing beside the ice wall.

Were they preparing to fight the demon? They weren’t planning on keeping that wall indefinitely!

They’re still patching it up, apparently planning to wait for these bungee jumpers to have enough fun before resurrecting.

Snow Cloud Peak continued to speak into the air, ”Mr. Hill, can you still use that skill?”

A tree branch dipped down in front of him and nodded.

”How often can you use it? Is it always this...,” he pondered for a moment on how to phrase it, ”this deep into the ground by several tens of meters?”

Hill stiffened slightly: Are you asking if it always has to be a bloodbath with swords piercing through bodies?

”No, the force can be controlled.” Hill felt his voice drifting, ”I’m worried this is a Legendary, might have used too much strength.”

Snow Cloud Peak turned towards the outside, looking at the roses blooming all over the ground, ”This place is quite beautiful, shall I tell them to drag away the bodies?”

You’re mocking me, aren’t you? Hill thought indignantly: I can hear the laughter in your voice!

I can! And I will! Go on a killing spree!

Hill knew players would talk, but he couldn’t help listening.

His focus sharpened, feeling a bit silly for paying more attention to this than facing the demon, but knowing others would discuss him, how could he not listen!

”Our people came down first, they’ve all resurrected, positions taken,” Perfect Timing said to Snow Cloud Peak, ”We can start anytime, just let the Scattered Ones finish them off from behind.

Why would you let the demon go to Hill? He’s still a kid!”

”Last I checked his file, it said 20 years old?” Snow Cloud Peak laughed, ”Pretty young indeed, got a bit nervous, didn’t he? That ultimate move, even a Legendary could be killed by it.”

”When coming out, Adrian came asking if he could join us in going down,” Baldy continued, ”Chattering a lot in Fran’s Territory, Hill has been well-protected, hardly ever had to fight.”)

Adrian’s like an old mother hen.”

”So this game isn’t bad, huh!” Snow Cloud Peak said, ”Character building is exceptionally realistic and well-rounded. Hill, a magician of the Nature System, wouldn’t randomly go killing people.”

”The key is, once dead they don’t respawn, really annoying.” Hill felt as if a Deer was speaking, ”If Hill died here, do you believe the Alliance’s several cities could be smashed to bits by female players!”

”I’m more afraid of rich cougars!” Snow Cloud Peak suddenly said, ”You haven’t seen the forums, have you? Already a few rich cougars stalking around, if Hill dies here, they’d fund a crusade against several of us guild leaders, preventing us from leveling up for life and forcing us out of the game.”

”Is the mention of Doomsday real?” a Deer sharply asked.

”The conversation started with Doomsday, but the last few claims are true,” Snow Cloud Peak reluctantly said, ”Good thing we can’t find Hill, otherwise with these newcomers, trouble really brews easily!”

”Is the God of Time and Space brain-damaged?” It wasn’t clear which guild leader was speaking, ”Showing off their smart brain, eh? All these random missions, not to mention, if you accidentally get the quest giver killed, it’s game over!”

”How else do you think the story buffs are going crazy, PVE players rushing in like mad, other narrative-centred games are done for.”

”Except for games centered around universe wars or mecha battles, many others just aren’t cutting it.”

”The main thing is the game isn’t expensive. Mission pathways are all generated by the smart brain, no need for planners; Temple of Time and Space has a good system, they don’t even need artists, honestly, as long as the cost of developing the smart brain is recovered, everything else is pure profit.”

Hill sensitively picked up on the words Temple of Time and Space. That’s why the God of Time and Space is so incredibly powerful!

Other deities toil hard for the faith of tens of millions, even the God of Nobility might only have a few million devotees.

However, the God of Time and Space can directly get tens of millions from another world to submit applications to join the Temple of Time and Space.

Hill remembered talking with players, they had mentioned, tens of millions applied to enter the game.

William really nailed it, the reservation trick, quite admirable indeed!
