Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 119: Chapter 96 Dreadful News

Srei appeared and asked, ”Mr. Sui Chen and Lady Sanda King asked me if Mr. Ink Brush Chen Xin had completed a special mission.”

I replied that it was a material task issued by Mr. Fran. Only the first to complete it would receive this treatment.

They were quite frustrated and asked me if there would be another chance?” he asked Hill with a look of confusion in his eyes, ”How should I answer that?”

”There will be more tasks with new materials appearing, and grandfather wants them all,” Hill replied without hesitation, ”Different materials, different rewards. If they find something better, grandfather will offer a more generous reward.”

Hill looked at the hesitant Srei, ”Grandfather has been making Legendary Level Alchemy Products for a long time.”

Srei immediately understood and smiled as he dissipated.

Hill waited for the players to experience future adventures in heaven and hell.

It was only at sunset that Srei came to notify Hill to come downstairs.

He walked down slowly and saw the shelves that were emptied out.

Adrian looked at the empty shelves with a satisfied and contented smile.

Ink Brush Chen Xin was even more excited, his face full of dreams about a future where he would be king.

Hill had Srei tidy up the remaining items, arranging them neatly on the couch and coffee table, and filled it with food, waiting for Ink Brush Chen Xin to snap back to reality.

It wasn’t until Adrian and Hill had taken their seats and sipped their drinks for a while that Ink Brush Chen Xin, who had been lost in thought while looking out of the window, finally realized and walked over.

”Sorry,” he said nonchalantly, ”I was lost in thoughts of a bright future.”

Adrian raised his glass, ”Then here’s to the future!”

Ink Brush Chen Xin also happily grabbed a drink, ”To a beautiful future!”

Hill felt that Adrian would do well not to try to understand the future as described by Ink Brush.

Arena fights, this sort of ridiculous thing, would only make people of this world think he’s lost his mind.

Ink Brush Chen Xin took a big gulp of his drink, then pulled out a stack of papers from his bag, ”We’ve found some strange patterns downstairs, they look like they were scratched out by claws.

The Transcription Technique is indeed a wonderful thing for the mortal world,” he said out of the blue with admiration, ”Everything we could find is here.”

Adrian, with a serious expression, took hold of the papers and started examining them.

Hill asked Ink Brush Chen Xin, ”Why not hand it over to His Majesty the King?”

”Better to clarify things before handing them over, the military exploits will be higher.”

William really knows how to use people!

Adrian cursed under his breath and stood up, ”This is a big problem.

Hill, I’ll leave the rest to you. I need to go back and find my teacher,” he said gravely to Ink Brush Chen Xin, ”When you guys progress downward, if you encounter a stone door or a vortex of light, don’t make a move.

There might be Fallen Deities, or even Demons from the Abyss.

It’s not a legend that can be overcome with mere numbers.”

Adrian, clutching the papers, hurried off.

Ink Brush Chen Xin looked stunned for a moment, then turned to Hill and asked, ”Are they that strong?”

”In the case of Demons. There could be billions in number,” Hill replied with a grave face, and simply said, ”As for the Fallen Deities, well.

Can’t the King just silence you directly?

They would only be stronger.”

Ink Brush Chen Xin muttered, ”So it’s better to be Demons, numbers aren’t an issue.

The other kind, is it that we can’t see the HP bar?”

Hill fought the urge to touch the top of his own head, feeling as though he was the one with an HP bar floating above him.

He solemnly instructed Ink Brush Chen Xin, ”Go and inform the other family elders, and also report to His Majesty the King.

This matter is very serious.

Even if the battle begins, we must be prepared.” Mr. Hill organized his words, ”The Abyssal Gate will affect the power of the deities. If you are not prepared, the moment you see demons, you will dissipate and return to the church just as fast as when you first thought to travel far.”

Ink Brush Chen Xin immediately became alert, ”Ah! Will it directly cause a loss of experience? I’ll go and tell them right away.” He quickly transcribed another batch of blueprints, ”I’ll submit these, saying that it’s suspected to be either the Abyss or a Fallen God?”

Mr. Hill nodded, ”Directly hand it to Kexlote, don’t go through too many people.” He pondered and said, ”There are always people who want to use the power of demons to turn the tables.”

Ink Brush Chen Xin sprang into action, ”I’m going now, and by the way, I’ll arrange for someone to watch over Edward.”

Watching him depart, Mr. Hill asked Srei who appeared behind him, ”Are the Old Age Striking King and Mr. Sui Chen still below? Please ask them to come up to shop.

If Rain Falling on Mortal Dust arrives, tell him I have a mission for him.”

Mr. Hill gazed silently at the bustling players outside, treasuring this peaceful time which could be shattered in an instant.

He should have understood, shouldn’t he?

The appearance of the God of Time and Space and William is the world consciousness’s attempt at self-rescue.

And the arrival of players signifies a future filled with bloodshed and carnage.

The power struggle between nobles and mages, the faith conflicts between deities... in the face of the reality of an Abyssal invasion, all become pale and powerless.

Mr. Hill looked up at the starry sky, the River of Time and Space flowing quietly. The Abyssal invasion, absent for tens of thousands of years—was He prepared for it?

William’s haste to consolidate his territory, did he already know this terrifying future?

Tomorrow morning, William is set to depart for Haifasardo.

Given his intention to deal with Cortez, there might still be a little time, right?

The Old Age Striking King and others have come up, Srei must have already told them that these are the remaining goods from the selection of the Black and White Path, and they do not seem to mind.

The footsteps ascending the stairs carry a note of cheerfulness.

They rushed in to greet Mr. Hill happily before diving into the merchandise.

Sitting at the desk, Mr. Hill began writing a letter to Manton: No matter what, the Perelast Family hasn’t harmed him to the extent that Mr. Hill would watch idly as they were torn apart by demons.

He wouldn’t say much, only instructing Manton to find Charles.

As for whether the Earl and his lady will listen, Mr. Hill could not control that.

Mr. Hill wrote quietly, the letter being his final gesture of warmth towards the Perelast Family.

After all, if they truly fall into the hands of demons, Mr. Hill knew he would not risk his own safety to save them.

Looking at the words under his pen, the letter revealed Edward’s bleak future and his own resolve to do nothing beyond offering a warning, never to lift a hand to help.

Facing a possibly disastrous end, Mr. Hill hoped that Manton would make the right choice.

Rain Falling on Mortal Dust quickly picked his items and came over, ”Mr. Hill, is there anything I can do for you?”

”Help me deliver a letter to Knight Manton Perelast at the Edward Camp.” Mr. Hill sealed the envelope and handed it to him.

Srei had a puppet give a set of High-level Magic Potions to Rain Falling on Mortal Dust.

Mr. Sui Chen approached and asked, ”Can the rest of us come and buy as well?”

After thinking it over, Mr. Hill replied, ”Those with Territory Contribution Points can.” Members of the Black Rose had sold many materials and blueprints in Mr. Hill’s general store.

Mr. Hill once thought they wanted to settle in his territory, but later realized they were just after a discount.

Mr. Sui Chen sent a message calling others, and the rest immediately purchased what they fancied.

Annoyed and distracted, Mr. Hill didn’t want to answer the players’ questions and went upstairs after greeting them.
