Algorithm system

Please don’t give me a bad review. The first week of school passed quickly and uneventfully.

Lin Yuan had fantasized countless times about how magnificent his graduate student life at a prestigious university would be. But, once he got in, it was just… that.

Even with the System, he didn’t put in any less effort. When he reaped the rewards of his hard work, he would merely wipe the sweat from his brow and feel a slight sense of satisfaction in his heart.

The algorithm iteration test in HX District went very smoothly.

But the frustrating thing was: Good Group actually didn’t let Lin Yuan see the specific results data. For example: how many percentage points the delivery riders management cost had decreased by.

This was truly unexpected, yet within reason. Commercial companies really don’t mess around with you.

Do you think that just because you wrote the algorithm, you have the right to see its usage effect? What a joke, just because you built the house, do you have the right to live in it?

At this moment, Lin Yuan realized that he was still just a brick-mover.

He once again recalled his mentor’s earnest teachings—Professor Zhang had long ago told him the principle of “both revealing and concealing.”

Why was Lin Yuan so sure that the algorithm worked well? One reason was the attitude of the leadership. It’s like “did you make money” and “how much money did you make” are two different questions. You don’t have to know exactly how much money you made to determine whether you made money at all.

Secondly, Lin Yuan still had a lot of backend permissions for Good Group Waimai. Although he couldn’t see deeper cost-related data, he could clearly see the situation of every Good Group Waimai station manager and delivery riders in HX District.

Therefore, Lin Yuan clearly saw: that scoundrel Liu Huzi was finished.

The elimination of disgusting station managers like Liu Huzi was the best proof of the algorithm’s effectiveness, because Good Group no longer needed them in HX District.

As HX District became a key test area for Hao Tuan Company’s senior management, when reviewing the effectiveness of the Good Group Waimai algorithm, they would naturally retrieve past data from HX District as a reference. Various financial audits would certainly follow suit.

And many things in this world cannot withstand scrutiny. The matter of Liu Huzi bribing relevant personnel responsible for station manager management at Good Group was naturally uncovered. Not to mention anything else, his malicious dispatching operations, done specifically to annoy people, would receive an extremely low efficiency rating after being fed into the algorithm for analysis.

Such low ratings would naturally trigger a manual review, and once reviewed, the trickery would be discovered.

For example, how could someone be made to run five kilometers to deliver one order, and then immediately after returning, be assigned another order four kilometers away, and only one order at a time? What is that if not targeting someone?

Lin Yuan now had an ’eye of God’ on the Good Group Waimai data in HX District. From the past data, Liu Huzi was simply not human.

Those unreasonable dispatches cut off the livelihoods of ordinary people, one by one.

Delivering Good Group Waimai is already a very low-level job in society, yet Liu Huzi still wanted to exploit this group. Lin Yuan hated him so much he wanted to smash his head in right then and there.

However, thankfully, Heaven has eyes.

To be precise, “the algorithm has eyes.”

Lin Yuan didn’t specifically target Liu Huzi for anything. Under the algorithm’s impartiality, Liu Huzi gloriously became a new member of Good Group Waimai—Lin Yuan saw his avatar in the list of newly applied Good Group Waimai delivery riderss in HX District.

On Friday evening of the first week, Lin Yuan specifically invited Da Zhang out for barbecue.

Da Zhang was still the same as before. Hearing that Lin Yuan was treating, he put his Good Group Waimai work aside for the time being.

Lin Yuan specifically ordered a few bottles of iced beer, because it was still a bit hot in early September, and Da Zhang was running around delivering Good Group Waimai, so something cold was most enjoyable.

But to Lin Yuan’s surprise, Da Zhang asked for Coke instead. “I still have to deliver Good Group Waimai after eating, so no alcohol.”

“When did you become so dedicated?”

“To save money for my child’s tutoring classes.” As he said this, Da Zhang stared at Lin Yuan for several seconds, then glanced at his yellow helmet placed on the table. “I don’t want my kid to do my job in the future.”

At this time, Lin Yuan was wearing a white T-shirt and denim shorts, looking like a college student. In contrast, Da Zhang, in a yellow uniform, sat conspicuously outside the barbecue restaurant. This was because almost all yellow-uniformed people were there to pick up Good Group Waimai, and very few sat down to eat barbecue. In fact, when Da Zhang first arrived, the barbecue restaurant owner even pointed to the Good Group Waimai pick-up area. . .

This scene, to those who didn’t know, would look like: a Good Group Waimai delivering father taking his college-aged son out for barbecue.

No matter how slow Da Zhang was, he couldn’t help but feel this disparity.

Lin Yuan felt a little uneasy. He understood Da Zhang’s purpose for working hard, but he also knew that such efforts might not be very effective. Studying depends too much on talent and guidance.

“Oh, right, you said last time you’d invite me to your home for dinner. My neck has been stretched out waiting.”

“You just started school, wasn’t I afraid you wouldn’t have time?”

In fact, Lin Yuan was indeed very busy now. Studying, working, dating—how could he not be busy?

“When I have time, I’ll definitely come to see my nephew.”

“Hey, then I’ll let my son acknowledge you as his uncle, alright?”

Lin Yuan smiled, acknowledging it.

He wanted to see Da Zhang’s son’s situation with his own eyes. If he was truly a good student, he would be happy to guide him well. But what if he wasn’t good at studying? What then? Directly telling Da Zhang not to bother would naturally be unrealistic.

Although Lin Yuan was just a mediocre second-tier university student before, he had at least climbed out of the mud to get into that university. No one had ever given him useful advice on his studies or life since he was little; he had relied entirely on his own brute force. Moreover, he hadn’t taken studying very seriously before.

After getting the System, his understanding of reading and studying completely changed. That was experience gained firsthand, like a veteran returning from the smoke and fire of battle. Therefore, he now had some authority to speak on the subject of studying for exams.

“Eat slowly.”

Da Zhang was wolfing down food non-stop. “Don’t laugh at me, but I haven’t had barbecue in a long time.”

“Boss, five more skewers of beef and five more of lamb.”

“No,” Da Zhang interrupted Lin Yuan, “just five lamb skewers are fine, sprinkle more cumin.”

Then Da Zhang looked at the beer on the table. “Can you still return these?”

Lin Yuan immediately understood. “No, they definitely can’t be returned.”

“Then do you want to take them back?”

“I definitely can’t carry them on the subway.”

“Then I… I’ll take them?”

“Just take them, so they don’t go to waste.”

Of course, they both knew that unopened beer could always be returned.

“Alright, thanks, brother, I sponged off you again. Next time, I’ll have my wife cook a table of good food. I still have to go work.”

“Wait a moment,” Lin Yuan glanced at the time on his phone, “there’s still a special program.”

“What special program?”

“I remember your kid likes fried chicken. I ordered a portion, and it’s almost here.”

Da Zhang’s face lit up with joy. “Oh, you’re such a good uncle! My kid should just call you godfather!”

“Uh… godfather… let’s not. I’m not even married yet.”

“Then you should hurry up!”

As the two chatted, a small Good Group Waimai vehicle slowly approached.

Da Zhang curiously sized up his colleague. Then, everyone present could hear Da Zhang exclaim a shocking, “Holy crap!”

“My goodness, Liu Huzi, Liu Huzi, are you delivering Good Group Waimai?” Da Zhang simply couldn’t believe his eyes. So this was the special program Lin Yuan had mentioned.

Liu Huzi looked awkwardly at the two Good Group Waimai delivery riderss who used to be under him. “What a… what a coincidence.”

Lin Yuan just watched him quietly. “Quite a coincidence. Thanks, Brother Liu.”

“No trouble, no trouble.”

Da Zhang was excited. “Liu Huzi, how did you end up like this? Hey, you’re not a station manager anymore?”

Liu Huzi’s face was full of embarrassment. “I have something to do, I’m leaving now.”

“Don’t go, tell me about it.”

Liu Huzi quickly got on his electric scooter and rode off. Not far out, he remembered something and stopped. “Please don’t give me a bad review, I beg you.”

Lin Yuan said nothing. Da Zhang was already laughing so hard he was bending over. “He got what he deserved today, haha~~, begging you not to give him a bad review, hahaha!!!”

“Lin Yuan, so this is what you meant by the special program. Are you that amazing now? You can even specify for Liu Huzi to deliver things.”

“I just assigned him an order in the Good Group Waimai backend, that’s all.”

“Then quickly assign him a few orders five kilometers away, so he can taste that feeling too.”

“Eh~~, forget it. He’s miserable enough now. If we push him too hard, I’m afraid he’ll cause us trouble.”

“That’s true.”

What Da Zhang didn’t know was that after Liu Huzi’s trickery was discovered by Good Group’s internal disciplinary system, he paid a lot of money to prevent Good Group from further investigation. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have fallen to this point.
