Algorithm system

Algorithm launchAs information on merchants in HX District was successfully collected, algorithm iteration and testing were carried out successively.

Good Group quietly launched Lin Yuan’s latest delivery and routing algorithm in HX District.

Good Group had not announced any news about this test on any public platform. Everything was calm, and HX District seemed to be the same HX District.

However, the data monitored in the backend showed the huge potential of this algorithm, as Good Group’s demand for human resource dispatch in HX District was slowly but steadily decreasing.

Human resource dispatch is actually manual intervention in the food delivery algorithm, using human labor to compensate for areas the algorithm cannot cover. For example, if an area is overwhelmed with orders, quickly arrange personnel to go there for emergency support.

This was originally one of the station master’s daily work contents.

And human resource dispatch is about dispatching people, not cold machines. Since the object of dispatch is people, it will involve the scope of personnel management. Because there are always good and bad jobs, people know how to pick and choose.

Therefore, human resource dispatch and personnel management are actually two inseparable tasks, and these two tasks combined constitute the largest part of a food delivery station master’s workload.

This is like workers on an assembly line.

When you use workers on an assembly line, you naturally introduce personnel management.

But if it were a fully automated assembly line, you wouldn’t need to pay for this part of the management expenses.

Of course, food delivery currently cannot achieve robot delivery. Moreover, whether robots should replace delivery riderss for delivery is a complex topic that requires very careful discussion.

Lin Yuan wasn’t thinking that far ahead right now; he actually just changed his thinking—why replace the workers on the assembly line with robots? Why not replace the managers with robots?

Let robot managers treat every worker with absolute objectivity, fairness, and rationality, which can at least reduce a lot of human-caused injustice.

And this concept, when projected onto the food delivery industry, means letting algorithms replace most of the food delivery station master’s job functions first.

Let the algorithm become the role of a robot manager on an assembly line, and let the algorithm manage the delivery riderss. This way, at least the harm caused by disgusting station masters to delivery riderss can be eliminated.

Furthermore, for food delivery platforms, weakening the role of the station master is essentially optimizing the execution process of the delivery link, which aligns with the current main theme of cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Moreover, for society, this is also conducive to improving the happiness of food delivery delivery riderss. At least vampires like Liu Huzi will have no living space.

Although Lin Yuan no longer works in food delivery, he still lurks in multiple food delivery delivery riders groups.

Due to the limited quality of the delivery riders group, the topics they usually discuss are inevitably a bit unseemly. But Lin Yuan felt that a healthy society should always give the struggling grassroots people a certain freedom of verbal expression.

You cannot demand the moral standards of a university professor from a food delivery person, because the social resource distribution obtained by the two is inherently different. It’s all about equal rights and responsibilities.

And in the past few days, the hostility in several food delivery groups in HX District has significantly decreased.

”Bought a bottle of wine and half a catty of pig’s head meat; going back to my shabby room to drink and eat meat.”

”Where did you get the money to drink and eat meat?”

”The orders these past two days have been especially smooth.”

”Me too. Several On the way orders a day.”

”That damn station master hasn’t bothered me these past few days. Anyone want to go for a barbecue later?”

.

.

To better understand the practical effects of the algorithm, Lin Yuan also specifically called Da Zhang.

”Hello, busy delivering?” Lin Yuan heard the sound of traffic on the other end of the phone.

”Yes. I have six orders,” Da Zhang’s tone sounded cheerful.

”Then you go ahead and be busy. We’ll talk when you’re free.”

”Don’t hang up. My six orders are all along the same route; it’s fine. What’s up?”

”Nothing much, just asking how your delivery work has been lately.”

”Still the same. If I don’t earn enough money to go home, my wife nags me.”

Da Zhang rode his electric scooter through the streets and alleys of HX District, talking to Lin Yuan with his headphones on. The phone screen on his stand clearly guided the route, which was a winding but branchless route without U-turns. This meant Da Zhang only needed to follow the navigation mindlessly, without worrying about missing a certain intersection or failing to deliver a certain order.

”But these past two days, the routine lectures and such have been skipped, and that damn station master hasn’t bothered me either. I just focus on delivering orders and go home when I’m done.”

Lin Yuan echoed, ”That’s pretty good too.”

”It is good. Otherwise, I get scolded by my wife at home and hung up on by the station master outside. Just thinking about it is annoying.”

”How are your child and sister-in-law?”

”They’re doing great. I later told your sister-in-law about you joining a big company, and she insisted on enrolling our child in a better tutoring class. But my child is like a block of wood; he just can’t learn. When do you have time to come to my house for a meal and teach this child for me? What’s wrong with my child, sigh...”

Lin Yuan really wanted to tell the other person: there’s no need to force the child; studying really can’t be achieved by force.

But Lin Yuan didn’t want to pour cold water on the other person, so with the thought of treating a dead horse as if it were alive, he said, ”Okay, when I’m done with this busy period, I’ll definitely come to find you for a drink.”

”Great, then it’s settled, alright?”

In addition to paying attention to Da Zhang, Lin Yuan also paid extra attention to Liu Huzi.

Compared to Da Zhang’s slight increase in happiness, Liu Huzi’s happiness also slightly increased at the moment, because Liu Huzi’s originally leisurely work became even less.

In the past, no matter how lazy Liu Huzi was, he still had to do some dispatch and lecture work. But these past few days, Good Group unusually notified the station masters in HX District: temporarily cancel all lectures and training, and the resumption time will be announced separately.

And with the cancellation of this training, the backend delivery riders dispatch reminders also decreased significantly. Liu Huzi was able to be an idler, seeing his goal of earning money by lying down about to be realized.

However, Lin Yuan knew very well.

He didn’t even need to propose ”station master optimization” to Good Group; for a commercial company like Good Group, when a function is no longer useful, it’s time for it to be optimized.

So, for Liu Huzi and others, this was the last beautiful scenery under the setting sun.

As the food delivery algorithm was about to achieve good results, the most important remaining matter gradually surfaced—that is, sharing the fruits of labor.

Group Vice President Liu Zhang had already jokingly suggested to Lin Yuan during lunch, ”Why don’t you come to our research institute after graduation?”

Although Lin Yuan had signed a contract with Good Group’s Shanghai Research Branch, it was only a one-year short-term contract. Liu Zhang was clearly referring to a short-term to long-term conversion.

Lin Yuan could only prevaricate, ”Graduation is still far away. I’m still young and can’t think too far ahead.”

When the cooperation first started, the verbally agreed preliminary agreement was that Good Group would give Lin Yuan certain stock options based on the subsequent work results. However, in the workplace, anything that is not written down on paper, sealed, and signed is just hot air.

Lin Yuan could already foresee that the process of sharing the fruits would definitely involve various back-and-forth negotiations and struggles.

He privately didn’t really want stock options, as options would to some extent tie him to Good Group. As for actual market tradable shares, Lin Yuan dared not hope that Good Group would give them.

So, what Lin Yuan most hoped for was—outsourcing.

Alright. I just found out today that ”HeXi District” will be automatically replaced by ”HX District.” And Hexi New District can be typed out. The audit strategy of a certain point should be the most common full-match mechanism for real place name strings. Unbearable!
