Algorithm system

System, don’t install it.The system can acquire data through calibrated cameras.

Based on Lin Yuan’s understanding of the system, it still adheres to the laws of the objective world.

Therefore, the system’s method of acquiring camera data must still be through the network, not some alien, mystical, interdimensional technology.

Furthermore, the system cannot access camera data that is not connected to the public network, which further confirms Lin Yuan’s hypothesis.

However, what puzzled Lin Yuan was that typical network cameras are usually connected to online video platforms.

For example, the smart home ecosystem of Coarse Grain Factory supports various cameras connecting to Coarse Grain Factory’s ecosystem platform according to certain protocols.

Lin Yuan wasn’t very knowledgeable about video transmission protocols, but he quickly realized a problem: whether video transmission was encrypted.

Because if it was encrypted, then based on his understanding of this ’dumb’ system, it would be a miracle if it could decrypt it.

This darn system, if you don’t build a data pathway for it, it simply doesn’t know where to get data from.

It’s like a three-year-old child; if you don’t set out his bowl and chopsticks, he doesn’t know how to eat.

But Lin Yuan thought of another possibility: ”System, are you pretending to be a pig to eat the tiger?”

”You clearly can decrypt encrypted data, but you’re intentionally keeping a low profile?”

If that were truly the case, Lin Yuan had a bold idea.

”Uh, if possible, I mean, if possible...”

Lin Yuan recalled his previous attempt to use the system for bitcoin mining, which caused him to faint for two hours on the spot.

Therefore, this time, when he had an idea, he had to cautiously state: ”System, I have an immature suggestion.

If it’s not possible, don’t mess with me, okay?”

Seeing no response from the system, Lin Yuan waited for a while, but finally, he timidly voiced his thoughts: ”If you can decrypt, then isn’t the video stream’s encryption method also RSA asymmetric encryption?”

”I heard Alipay also uses this kind of encryption.”

”Don’t worry, I wouldn’t be so stupid as to ask you to add a few zeros to my Alipay account.”

(Of course, this is mainly because Alipay uses real-name authentication.

Even if you add more zeros, it won’t escape regulation.)

”The transmission encryption methods for those digital currencies should also be RSA-like asymmetric encryption, right?”

”So, I’m not asking you to mine for me.

Why don’t you just write a few zeros into the bitcoin ledger for me?”

Soon, Lin Yuan added another sentence.

”System, I’m just kidding.”

Perhaps it was Lin Yuan’s last sentence that worked.

This time, he wasn’t knocked out by the system.

In fact, Lin Yuan’s request this time was even more outrageous than his previous request to ”have the system help with bitcoin mining.”

Having the system mine at least involved a production process, but Lin Yuan’s request this time was for the system to bypass the production process and directly record entries on the ledger.

This operation was essentially asking the system to directly conquer the central bank headquarters of digital currency.

”I’m not pretending anymore, I’m laying my cards on the table.

Anyway, digital currencies are anonymous.”

Of course, Lin Yuan was joking with the system in all seriousness this time.

However, he still held a tiny bit of hope – what if it actually happened?

Then he wouldn’t have to work hard anymore.

As the system remained silent for a long time, Lin Yuan’s faint glimmer of hope eventually vanished.

Lin Yuan had no choice but to straighten his attitude.

So now there were two possibilities: either the system was concealing its ability to decrypt encrypted data, or the video data transmission of network cameras was mostly unencrypted.

To answer this question, he could only resort to technical documentation.

Lin Yuan quickly went online to check for interface documentation on Coarse Grain Factory’s home ecosystem.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t find detailed interface documents related to network cameras.

Looking at the introduction page on Coarse Grain Factory’s official website, it seemed that only enterprises with cooperation qualifications could obtain interface data after submitting their qualification review.

Well, Lin Yuan didn’t have the energy to deal with that, and besides, he didn’t have an enterprise.

So he had to guess from the perspective of technical principles.

Currently, 1080P cameras on the market are already dirt cheap; their prices are often below 100 yuan.

Looking at the Coarse Grain Factory cameras on the shopping platform, which cost less than 70 yuan and even included infrared night vision and intercom functions, Lin Yuan could feel the deep despair of developed Western countries.

What is Industrial Cthulhu?

It’s when the finished product is significantly cheaper than your components.

This is the greatest confidence of the Dragon Country, and it is also the tip of the iceberg of the Dragon Country’s comprehensive industrial strength.

Lin Yuan looked closer and found that besides being able to connect to Coarse Grain Factory’s cloud platform for free, this type of camera also came with about three days of free rolling cloud storage.

’Well, if I start a business in the future, I will definitely not touch this kind of common product.

It’s too terrifying!’

After marveling, Lin Yuan naturally began to consider the economic and technical principles behind it.

First, he believed that a mature enterprise would not continuously operate at a loss.

For example, a large internet company like Coarse Grain Factory.

It’s impossible for it to operate at a loss in the camera field with such a large shipment volume.

However, the prices of these network cameras were indeed absurdly low.

Then there’s only one possibility: give away hardware for free and make money through software, just like smart TVs.

Lin Yuan downloaded Coarse Grain Factory’s Cloud Butler and confirmed this point—Coarse Grain Factory relies on network cameras to sell its own cloud storage and cloud computing services.

Seven days of rolling cloud storage only costs 69 yuan a year.

This price once again made Lin Yuan feel it was outrageous.

If he were to buy a hard drive recorder himself, 69 yuan probably wouldn’t even cover a year’s electricity bill.

Why was Lin Yuan concerned about the price?

Because numbers are cold and don’t lie.

Known condition 1: Merchants will never do business at a loss.

Known condition 2: The merchant’s seven-day rolling cloud storage only costs 69 yuan per year.

Known condition 3: If a 1080P frame is saved in RGB format, it’s 1920 * 1080 * 3 = 6,220,800 bytes, which is over 6MB.

Calculated at 30 frames per second, it means 180MB of data needs to be encrypted and transmitted per second, and then the cloud platform needs to decrypt it accordingly.

Even if a shortcut method is adopted, compressing the image resolution before transmission, the continuity of video data and the demand for resolution determine that video stream data must be calculated in MB/s bandwidth.

Under such bandwidth requirements, the demand for computing power is very high.

69 yuan a year obviously cannot cover the cost, and it’s far from covering it.

Therefore, combining the existing three conditions:

Unless the merchant has been doing business at a loss, it’s impossible for network cameras to encrypt every single frame.

Of course, Lin Yuan believed that manufacturers certainly have security defense measures.

However, network security has a primary prerequisite, which is cost and risk considerations.

Lin Yuan guessed that manufacturers probably use methods similar to unique device IDs and periodic security verification for limited security control.

However, how the manufacturer does it is not important to Lin Yuan.

What’s important now is that Lin Yuan can almost confirm: the system cannot decrypt encryption, at least it hasn’t shown this ability yet, which further solidifies the fact that this is a low-level system.

(Whose system still follows objective scientific laws?)

Also, there’s another very important point: the system can intercept data on the network.

”System, stop pretending.

Hurry up and do it.”
