Algorithm system

Finally got a preliminary impression of the system“System? Aren’t you being too mischievous? You’re not going to make me sacrifice essence again, are you?”

Lin Yuan tried to chat with the System for a long time, but it remained as stubborn as a rock.

Helpless, he could only offer a sacrifice.

But even after the sacrifice, it was still useless.

“Damn it, you’re going too far now.”

“Aren’t we symbiotic? Do you want me to exhaust my essence and then find another host?”

...

After Lin Yuan’s long monologue, the System suddenly popped up an error: “Syntax Exception!”

Now it was Lin Yuan’s turn to be confused. “System, you can have exceptions now? And a syntax exception at that?”

Syntax exceptions are generally caused by problems in the syntax of program statements.

Because computers have their own languages, which are various programming languages, and each programming language has its own syntax constraints. Just like every language in the human world has its own grammar.

A syntax exception is like saying “rice you did eat?” instead of “Did you eat?”

Lin Yuan suddenly realized: Perhaps he had been performing a one-man show just now. What he had just said seemed to the System like a jumbled mess, completely unintelligible.

“System, do you really not understand?”

“What I mean is, you can use the previous method to collect merchant information for the entire HX District.”

But the System gave no response. The System still felt to Lin Yuan like it couldn’t escape the confines of a program. Because only programs would report various error codes when subjected to endless abuse.

So, Lin Yuan tried to explain more patiently.

“Look. Before, you collected merchant data by having me physically sweep the streets to mark cameras for you. But that method clearly won’t work now. I’m not Sun Wukong, I can’t conjure a bunch of monkeys.”

“Now, Good Group has opened up their existing merchant data interface to me, right? Although their merchant data interface is very limited, it only connects to cash registers and in-store audio systems.”

(If a merchant isn’t connected to a food delivery platform, they won’t hear “You have a new food delivery order” when dining.)

“So, System, do you understand?”

However, even with Lin Yuan’s patient guidance, the System remained as unresponsive as a dead crab.

“Hey, System! Network, network! I now have permission to access merchants’ cash registers and in-store audio systems. Aren’t those cash registers and audio systems networked? How many merchants do you think would be willing to spend money to build a separate local area network for their surveillance camera system?”

“So, why don’t you just follow the network cable to find network cameras?”

The System immediately popped up a “Shocked” expression on the panel, as if saying, “So that’s how it works! You can play like that!”

“Stop being shocked, get to work.”

Only then did Lin Yuan realize: The System wasn’t pretending; it was genuinely stupid.

Even the most amateur hacker knows how to search for devices along a network cable, yet the mighty System needed Lin Yuan to remind it to this extent.

Never mind. Lin Yuan even thought: As for the System not letting him mine, it might not be because the System is righteous, but because the System cannot understand such an operation. In other words, his previous attempts to use the System for mining likely crashed the System. And it was a very serious crash, which also caused him to faint for two hours.

At this point, Lin Yuan finally had a preliminary impression of the System—it was a pure child with superpowers.

So, for the System, asking it to mine. Isn’t that like asking an innocent child to take the money for tuition from his pocket and spend it at an arcade, completely overturning his worldview?

“System, have you learned? Call me ‘bro’ quickly!”

“This is the greatness of me as a human!”

“Do you feel it? Even the most powerful AI cannot achieve something it has never seen.”

Lin Yuan’s action of “fishing for devices along the network cable” had, in turn, taught the System a lesson, and could be considered a collection of human behavior data samples for the System.

However, the System did not call Lin Yuan “bro.” Perhaps the System still couldn’t understand why it needed to call Lin Yuan “bro” in this situation.

From this confrontation with the System, caused by the expansion of merchant data collection, Lin Yuan perceived the System’s own weakness.

That’s right.

The System had previously felt very powerful to him. That powerful computing power seemed capable of crushing all computing devices in the world.

But now Lin Yuan suddenly felt, was he stuck in habitual thinking?

Powerful doesn’t mean powerful in all aspects. After all, even the greatest historical figures weren’t necessarily good chefs.

Things seemed to return to the scenario of specialization.

At this moment, Lin Yuan further appreciated the wisdom of the ancients. Seemingly ordinary words contained a Zen-like meaning that prevented people from blindly following.

The System currently seemed to only be proficient in the field of computing, and it also had its own understanding of how to use computing power. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have crashed when used for mining.

To confirm this, Lin Yuan thought of a very interesting test method.

Didn’t he use a big move before to perform a large data retrieval across all social platforms? The purpose of doing this was to get to the bottom of OCR and then obtain computing power devices, which naturally fell within the scope of legitimate means.

But what if this ability were used elsewhere?

“System? Can you search the entire network for the 500,000 traitors? I’ll split the money with you.”

Lin Yuan acted immediately. He provided the System with the website entrances of major domestic social platforms and then provided the System with several data samples of 500,000 traitorous remarks.

When he gave the System the command to start the search...

---

Fortunately, Lin Yuan had prepared in advance; he had given the System the command from his dorm bed.

When he woke up, the time on his phone had advanced by about an hour.

‘If I hadn’t time-walked just now, I would have been unconscious for an hour.’

In other words: Lin Yuan’s action of having the System search the entire network for the 500,000 traitors had crashed the System again. And it had also made him faint.

Lin Yuan even thought, ‘Is it because my action this time was righteous that you only crashed for an hour? After all, last time I tried to use you for mining, you made me faint for two hours.’

“Forget it, important matters come first.”

Lin Yuan didn’t have time to continue playing with the System. He immediately threw the HX District merchant interface provided by Good Group to the System.

Soon, the System panel kept flashing with data connection prompts.

While the System was busy, Lin Yuan could finally rest.

‘My cheat is truly special; I’ve actually turned the System into a tool. No, I want to turn the System into my little brother.’

In reality, Lin Yuan would never actually report those 500,000 traitors online. It wasn’t that he lacked a sense of justice, nor that he didn’t dislike those people. It was that it would expose his superpowers (how could he explain the process of catching a bunch of 500,000 traitors to others?).

So, what is the first priority for a cheater?

Lie low!!!

Must lie low!!!

‘Sigh, I don’t have to worry about collecting merchant data anymore. But how do I explain the algorithm? How can I convince my supervisor that I developed this algorithm myself?’

When it comes to technology, once it involves technical implementation details, even Sun Wukong couldn’t fool anyone.

So, Lin Yuan had a headache!

‘It’s also my fault for being young and eager for fame, using my cheat too hastily!’
