Algorithm system

Dean Li’s half-apprenticeAfter the matriculation ceremony, Lin Yuan immediately took off.

Seeing that his advisor was chatting with the school leaders, he simply sent a message to the other party, informing him that he was leaving first.

He had just been inexplicably called up to speak, and at 24 years old, he had a rare moment of deep emotional expression, but it didn’t resonate with anyone.

Instead, showing off his strength and feigning arrogance seemed to cater more to the crowd’s taste.

Recalling Dean Li’s erratic behavior, Lin Yuan always felt like he was being used as a political tool for his achievements, a feeling that greatly displeased him, so Lin Yuan naturally wanted to leave the conference hall quickly.

At this time, the night was thick, but it was still far from deep night.

It was a good time to hold Xia Ye’s hand and stroll down the street.

There was no trouble that couldn’t be dispelled by taking a walk with a girl.

If that didn’t work, then a hug would do the trick.

However, Lin Yuan had just escaped for a short while when his advisor’s call came in again.

“Where are you, kid? Are you a rabbit?”

“Uh, uh, uh, Teacher, I was almost born in the Year of the Rabbit.”

People born before February 4, 2020, were indeed born in the Year of the Rabbit.

“Don’t argue with me, come back quickly.”

Lin Yuan could only scurry back.

Meeting his advisor again was in a small office inside the conference hall, and unfortunately, Dean Li was also there.

“Lin Yuan, I think very highly of you.” These words came from Dean Li, which made Lin Yuan feel a bit, uh, disgusted.

Lin Yuan really wanted to reply, “How come I don’t see that you think highly of me?”

“This student of mine, his undergraduate resume is too, too, thin!”

It had to be Professor Zhang, who, with a straight face, sarcastically helped Dean Li recall the scene of the admission interview back then.

Dean Li’s old face instantly turned red, “Cough cough~~, Oh, there are no outsiders here.

Your apprentice is also half my apprentice.”

Lin Yuan was instantly dumbfounded upon hearing this, “When did I become half this old geezer’s apprentice? But, uh, considering he’s the Vice President of my department, it doesn’t seem like a loss.”

But even if it wasn’t a loss, Lin Yuan was still curious about this sudden change from the other party.

There had to be a reason.

“What do you mean, also half your apprentice? A dignified Executive Vice President of the Computer Science Department, are you that shameless?”

“Hey, Old Zhang.

Don’t joke with me.

We were roommates back then, brothers in the same trench for many years.” Dean Li seemed to have returned to his student days, even putting his arm around Professor Zhang’s shoulder.

Out of the corner of his eye, Lin Yuan felt as if Dean Li was winking at his advisor.

This made him even more suspicious.

“First, let’s talk about your quota.” Professor Zhang didn’t follow Dean Li’s rhythm.

“Let’s talk about business first.”

“First, the quota.”

“Alright, alright, alright, I still have one spot left for joining the organization this year.

I think Lin Yuan is quite suitable.”

“Quota?” Lin Yuan just hearing it felt like it must be a good thing.

“The quota to join the party.”

“Me?” Lin Yuan was stunned, he suddenly remembered that his advisor had mentioned to him last time: he would talk to Li Youcai about joining the organization, and it had yielded results so quickly?

“However, the process definitely won’t be completed this year, so let’s give you an activist status first.”

Lin Yuan came back to his senses, “It’s all up to Dean Li.”

“What do you mean, I decide? This is the result of democratic voting according to the organizational charter.

It’s because you have brought honor to the department and the school, and it’s an acknowledgment of your personal work achievements….” Dean Li seemed very vigilant, even if there were only three people present, he absolutely upheld the principle of being watertight.

“You’re talking nonsense.” Professor Zhang interrupted Dean Li’s spiel.

“Watch your words and actions, you are a senior professor after all.”

“If I could watch my words and actions, I wouldn’t still be a professor at this age.”

At this moment, Lin Yuan seemed to see the time when the two of them bickered in the same dormitory when they were young.

If one were to disregard their attire and the traces of time left on them, wouldn’t they just look like two ungraduated students who were gossiping and tearing each other down?

Lin Yuan thought to himself, he didn’t know why these two old men had to be so unrestrained in front of a student.

His advisor today was also being excessively indulgent.

“Hurry up and talk about the main business,” Dean Li urged quickly.

Professor Zhang then cleared his throat, “Well, Lin Yuan.

How are things with the OCR?”

Alright, a flash of lightning suddenly streaked across Lin Yuan’s mind.

So, this was the reason.

Being specifically called over after the matriculation ceremony, Dean Li’s various praises, even shamelessly saying he was half his apprentice, and then giving him a quota.

If all this was because he had achieved something at Good Group, Lin Yuan would never believe it.

Because the algorithm test in HX District was still ongoing, no matter how much impact the food delivery algorithm would have in the future, it was not yet apparent.

Dean Li had no need to rush over so eagerly, but if it was for the OCR matter, then everything made sense.

Lin Yuan then recalled what his advisor had said: he and Dean Li often attended academic conferences organized by some foreign affairs agencies when they were young, besides freeloading food and drinks, he also mentioned deliberately providing false intelligence to the enemy.

Then the amount of information here was a bit vast.

“You, you, you, want me to do something?”

Dean Li spoke first, “I also looked into your family situation.

I heard from Old Zhang that your parents don’t have retirement or medical insurance, so you’ll need to prepare two or three hundred thousand.

Therefore, you can use those OCR computing equipment to earn some extra money.

Your advisor should have mentioned it to you already, we often did this kind of thing back then.

Consuming enemy resources and solving personal life problems.

You can do this boldly, the school will turn a blind eye, they won’t care about this.”

Dean Li’s concerned look almost made Professor Zhang vomit, “Don’t believe him, he’s been a leader for too long, he’s used to speaking smoothly.”

Lin Yuan felt a little relieved.

It still had to be his own advisor, who never hid anything from him.

Looking at Dean Li, if he were anyone’s advisor, it would be miserable.

He looked like someone who would always play tricks and keep you in the dark.

“Haha,” Dean Li laughed to cover his embarrassment, “I’m just concerned about his life.”

“You shut up, he’s my student, I’ll talk.”

“Lin Yuan, there are some things I can’t tell you too much about.

But you have to believe one thing, I, your teacher, will not harm you.

So, for this OCR matter, just do as I say.

It will definitely only benefit you in the future, not harm you.”

His advisor’s words were firm and powerful, giving Lin Yuan a sense of reassurance.

Without much thought, he nodded to his advisor, “Okay, I’ll listen to you, Teacher.”

“Very good.

You are a smart child, actually, I guess you already understand some things.

It’s just that this guy, he’s so worried about his official position that he insisted on pulling me aside to talk to you alone.

You don’t have to have too much of an opinion of him, people like them are just like that, always thinking, thinking,”

Professor Zhang paused, “Thinking about, progress, I guess.”

Dean Li had an expression of “thank you for saving my face.”

“He’s in the same cohort as me, and he’s almost 60, so he doesn’t have many opportunities left.”

Professor Zhang didn’t say much more, but Lin Yuan could roughly imagine.

Vice President Li was nearly 60, and at this age, it seemed he wanted to make one more step forward before retiring.

“Teacher, I understand.”

“Alright, you can go.

Later, ask him to introduce you to a wife.

He has a lot of resources, so it’s a bargain you shouldn’t miss.”

Dean Li became energized, “I’ll take care of this, I’ll treat it as choosing a wife for my own son.”

Lin Yuan didn’t refuse this time.

Although he had no intention of breaking up with Xia Ye, he also didn’t want to reject Dean Li’s kindness, fearing to offend him, “Thank you, Dean Li.”

Before leaving, Lin Yuan suddenly remembered something, “Oh, right, Teacher.

Should I give, uh, some of the profits I get from OCR to…,”

Lin Yuan naturally wasn’t referring to “should I give some to you, old man,” because if he wanted to say that, he would have told his advisor long ago.

With his advisor’s temper, even if he wanted to take some, he would have directly told Lin Yuan.

Lin Yuan was naturally referring to “should I leave a share for Dean Li.” After all, Lin Yuan had been working in society for a year, and delivering food had given him the greatest exposure to society, so he wasn’t so foolish as to think he could freeload all the profits.

“No need.” His advisor waved his hand, signaling Lin Yuan could leave first, so Lin Yuan didn’t ask any more questions.

As he closed the office door on his way out, Lin Yuan vaguely heard his advisor seemingly saying, “Look at what kind of impression you’re giving to the students….”
