Chapter 97: Chapter 93 If all else fails, I’ll offer myself in marriage! (Long Chapter, please subscribe)

Chen Hui took Zhang Jingdong and Xiao Fei for a quick tour around the company before heading to the upstairs office.

He personally poured water for the two of them, and Chen Hui started to boast—well, not really, he began to share his experiences from his years in the music industry, which was also a way to indirectly showcase his connections and qualifications.

”I was actually a professional singer at the beginning. I formed a band with friends called Snow Shadow Wind Sand. We had some fame in Jiangdu back in the day...”

Before this, Chen Hui had almost never done such a thing because there was simply no need to.

Although his company wasn’t the largest music company in Jiangdu, its status in the music community there was at least in the top two. Thus, previous new singers would come to sign with them out of their reputation.

Just a brief chat was enough for them to sign a contract, and they would be thrilled like it was something big.

The exception this time was, firstly, because Xiao Fei indeed was an exceptional talent, at least the most promising singer he had seen in the last five years.

Secondly, Zhang Jingdong was clearly a tough character. If he didn’t show his real capabilities, Zhang Jingdong would definitely not let Xiao Fei sign with his company.

The reason Zhang Jingdong, at Nanguang College, had brought up his company to Chen Hui just after a brief conversation was because Zhang Jingdong knew him.

Chen Hui was amongst the first generation of rock singers in Jiangdu. Back then, Snow Shadow Wind Sand was almost a legendary presence in nightclubs nationwide.

Don’t think that being in the nightclub scene meant they had no level. At the time, others in the scene with them included Sha Baoliang, Zhou Xun, Lin Yilun; stretching out one of them now would be a top celebrity.

And Chen Hui, as the soul of Snow Shadow Wind Sand, though not a household name in Jiangdu, anyone slightly interested in music knew of him.

Zhang Jingdong chose their company precisely for his qualifications and connections in the music industry.

After briefly talking about his early days in the music scene, Chen Hui glanced at Xiao Fei, then said to Zhang Jingdong, ”Of course, I’m not telling you this to boast. I just want to say that our company has enough strength to package and promote her.”

”If you are willing to sign with our company, I have the confidence to train her into a top-tier singer. Mr. Zhang, what do you think?”

At this moment, Zhang Jingdong calmly picked up his glass, took a sip of water, and then responded to the indirect question, ”Mr. Chen, I’d like to meet the owner of your company?”

”Meet our owner?” Chen Hui hesitated a bit: ”Mr. Zhang, our owner is not currently in the company, and all the music-related business is under my charge, so... it seems unnecessary?”

Zhang Jingdong’s words carried deep meaning: ”I want to meet your owner not about signing her, but for something else.”

”Since he’s not in the company, then please, Mr. Chen, call me when your owner returns, and then we can talk about signing with your company.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Hui hesitated slightly, then said, ”Alright, since you’ve said that, I’ll also just tell you the truth. Actually, I am the owner of this company.”

”Don’t laugh at me for saying this, but since my company isn’t big, to keep up appearances, I usually tell others that I’m the music director here.”

”If you don’t believe me, I can go get the company seal for you right now.”

As he said this, Chen Hui stood to get up.

Zhang Jingdong hurriedly said, ”No need, Mr. Chen, I believe you!”

Chen Hui paused, then sat back down, extended his hand, and said, ”Now can you tell me exactly what it is you want to discuss?”

”Of course...” Zhang Jingdong with a serious face, said, ”I want to acquire your company!”

”What... what?” Chen Hui was clearly startled: ”Why?”

Zhang Jingdong turned his head to look at Xiao Fei, then continued, ”My plan is, after acquiring your company, to have her sign with the company. Not that I don’t trust you, but with her, I wouldn’t trust anyone.”

”Besides, after the acquisition is complete, you will still manage the day-to-day operations of the company, and I will also give you 40% of the shares.”

”I only have two demands. First, to use the company’s resources to fully support her.”

”Second, to personally oversee the direction of her future development.”

”Mr. Chen, if you’re willing, just name your price. If it is reasonable, I will not bargain.”

Chen Hui, seeing that Zhang Jingdong was serious, immediately went into deep thought.

From Zhang Jingdong’s words, it was evident that his purpose in buying the company wasn’t for profit but solely to support Xiao Fei.

And he wanted to buy the company because he intended to use Chen Hui’s resources in the music industry.

After realizing these two points, Chen Hui was certain of one thing: no matter what, he wouldn’t lose out, and he might even make a big profit.

Considering Xiao Fei’s potential, she was very likely to become a top-tier singer in the future and a cash cow for the company.

The current annual net profit of his company was only one or two million yuan. After all, the music industry has been down for a few years. If Xiao Fei became famous, even though he’d only have a 40% share, the money he’d take home would surely far exceed this number.

Moreover, most crucially, with Zhang Jingdong now seeking to acquire his company, he could also make a good sum from this opportune chance.

After pondering these thoughts, Chen Hui suppressed his excitement and solemnly said, ”Since Mr. Zhang is buying my company to support Xiao Fei, and I also think Xiao Fei has great potential, alright... I agree!”

”As for the price... since you just offered me so many favorable terms, I won’t ask for an unreasonable amount. Let’s make it three million yuan, and I guarantee all of this money will be used to support Xiao Fei wholly. How does that sound?”
