Chapter 87: Chapter 87 Enjoying a Delightful Conversation with Her (Fans of Yan Zu, please subscribe first)

Even though Zhang Jingdong had known Lin Shishi for quite some time, this was the first time he was alone with her.

After their recent conversation, Zhang Jingdong gradually realized that she was a mentally-driven girl.

In his view, to win over such a top-tier beauty with high standards, he must prepare two things.

The first thing is not to expect anything intimate with her within the next year or two.

The second thing is to be bold yet careful; the more creative and unique your ideas are based on proper values, the more she’ll find you unparalleled.

For the former, Zhang Jingdong was ready. After all, he already had An Lu as an official student, and Chen Lu as a preparatory student.

He planned to attend enough classes with them outside, then use his sage time to discuss pure love with Lin Shishi, as a man’s mind during sage time is full of philosophy.

For the latter, he was almost prepared; after all, he was an old hand, having psychological advantages and numerous tricks against a female college student under 20.

Secondly, money is the courage of men; with sufficient funds and strength, every man has the capital to be wildly imaginative.

Moreover, most crucially, through the interactions during this period, he felt that he had gained a certain degree of appreciation from Lin Shishi.

So, I have the upper hand in this wave.

Thinking of this, Zhang Jingdong subconsciously glanced again at the crazy couple.

Which provoked Lin Shishi’s coquettish complaint: ”Why are you looking at them again?”

Zhang Jingdong said playfully, ”I was checking if they left; if they haven’t, let’s change our spot.”

”Have they left?”

”I didn’t see clearly just now, let me check again... Yes, they left, they’ve already exited the viewing platform. It seems that guy’s physically weak, or maybe the environment is too exhilarating for him...”

”What?”

”Oh... nothing... nothing...”

Zhang Jingdong quickly shifted his gaze, changing the topic: ”Besides studying and hosting events, what is your biggest hobby?”

At this moment, Lin Shishi looked at the sky, slowly saying, ”Reading, watching movies, or traveling.”

”Which book do you like most?”

Lin Shishi hesitated slightly, then replied, ”I can’t think of my favorite right now, but the one I’ve read the most is Haruki Murakami’s ’Norwegian Wood’.”

Zhang Jingdong initially thought Lin Shishi would like classic literature, but unexpectedly, she favored Haruki Murakami’s novels.

He immediately got interested: ”Do you love Murakami’s style, or the story in the book?”

”40% for his writing style, 60% for the story inside the book.”

”Then do you think Watanabe liked Naoko or Midori more?”

Upon hearing that Zhang Jingdong had also read the book, Lin Shishi was also prompted into a discussion.

”I think he liked Naoko more, but Naoko was more spiritually attached to Kisaku, while Midori’s affection for Watanabe surpassed his feelings for her.”

Zhang Jingdong, with profound meaning, said, ”Then, do you think Watanabe is a particularly bad person? Despite liking Naoko, he still got intimate with her, yet he also did that with other girls.”

Lin Shishi, clearly not expecting Zhang Jingdong to suddenly ask this, thought of the couple from earlier and her face turned red.

”He... I don’t think he’s bad because you men, when young... due to excessive hormonal secretion, sometimes make decisions not with your brain but with your instincts.”

”Watanabe’s love for Naoko was more spiritual, and in his life... maybe it was instinct that led him to act the way he did.”

Hearing this, Zhang Jingdong chuckled: ”Indeed, a person with education has truly high thoughts!”

Lin Shishi then said, ”What about you? What do you like most about this book?”

Zhang Jingdong naturally couldn’t tell her that he originally read the book casually, and immediately said, ”I most admire Midori in it, because she is one of the rare few who can remain rational in love.”

”She knows she likes Du Bian more than Du Bian likes her, and she also knows that Du Bian actually prefers Naoko, but she still chooses to date Du Bian, because she enjoys the sweetness of love.”

”But at the same time, she wouldn’t end up with Du Bian, because she knows if she really married Du Bian or stayed with him forever, she wouldn’t truly be happy.”

Upon hearing this, a flicker of intrigue suddenly appeared in Lin Shishi’s eyes.

Because she actually also liked Midori the most, and her reason was almost exactly the same; she could never have imagined that she would resonate with Zhang Jingdong!

”Host has gained 10 goodwill points from the target person, reward 20,000 Yuan!”

Zhang Jingdong felt a secret thrill inside, then feigned ignorance and asked, ”Do you like Midori?”

Lin Shishi paused for a moment, then sincerely said, ”I never had my own view of romance before, but after reading this book, I feel that if I ever fall in love in the future, my expectation for love should be like Midori’s.”

”I would choose to date someone I like, but I might not end up with them.”

”Because ’Norwegian Wood’ actually has another deeper meaning, which is that we are all ultimately alone.”

”So, if one day I meet the right person, I will choose to love him, to experience the beauty of love, but if I don’t meet him, or we don’t have a perfect ending, I would also enjoy living alone.”

At this moment, Zhang Jingdong suddenly realized Lin Shishi really was an extraordinary woman both in beauty and spirit.

After being quiet for a full five seconds, Zhang Jingdong then continued, ”So, what’s your favorite movie?”

Lin Shishi was already starting to enjoy chatting with Zhang Jingdong, because she discovered he was someone she could really talk to.

This was something even Liu Siwen, her best friend, could not achieve.

She then said, ”It’s hard to say which is the favorite, but the one I’ve watched the most is ’The Legend of 1900.’”

Zhang Jingdong’s heart stirred, ”Then, why do you think 1900 refused to leave the ship?”

Lin Shishi smiled knowingly, ”I think it’s because he was unwilling to accept change, because in real life, only those in pain want change, like during the Age of Exploration, the first group of people who risked everything to go to America were mostly those who couldn’t survive in Europe.”

”Since his days on the ship were very comfortable, he didn’t want to change his life.”

Zhang Jingdong nodded appreciatively, ”That’s a unique perspective and quite representative.”

Lin Shishi blinked her beautiful eyes, ”What about you?”

Zhang Jingdong calmly replied, ”I think it’s because he didn’t want to accept new rules, because on the ship he could do anything, completely disregard rules, and he knew once he left the ship, he would have to adapt to new rules, without the freedom he had before!”

”As for him choosing to die on the ship in the end, I think it’s actually a kind of metaphor.”

”Because the big context at that time was that the Beautiful Country’s GDP had already surpassed the United Kingdom to become the world’s number one, and the main public function of 1900’s ship was to continuously transport European adventurers to the Beautiful Country.”

”1900 represents those Europeans, who would have to follow the Beautiful Country’s rules once off the ship.”

”And 1900’s ultimate sinking with the ship symbolizes the collapse of the belief especially of the Ying Country people that they were once the number one in the world.”

This point of view of Zhang Jingdong wouldn’t be anything extraordinary in the future, as there were simply too many who analyze movies on certain platforms, and their perspectives were also too numerous to count.

But it was still 2004, ’The Legend of 1900’ was only released in 1998, and pirated discs only began to abound in the mainland after 2000.

Most importantly, Zhang Jingdong’s view had a hint of conspiracy theory, so when Lin Shishi heard it, she was completely taken aback!

Although simple artistic youths were no longer popular, but a boy who loved literature and movies, and could also delve deep into movie analysis, was precisely the nemesis of artistic girls like Lin Shishi.

Lin Shishi responded appreciatively, ”I have never heard your perspective before, but I think your viewpoint is profound and very unique, showing that your understanding of the world has reached a significant height.”

”Host has received sincere praise from the target person, reward 50,000 Yuan!”
