I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 650: Chapter 78: 2011_3

This time, not attending the press conference is definitely not Mourinho’s way of opposing the club or Florentino; instead, he’s adopting a low-key approach, a decision that clearly has the club’s support as well.

In Italy, Mourinho had also used a ”news blackout” strategy. For example, after the match between Inter and Sampdoria, he refused to attend the press conference, but that was because he was dissatisfied with the referee.

What he’s doing now is actually the right choice.

Ever since Mourinho showed a piece of paper listing 13 referee errors at a post-match press conference for Real Madrid against Sevilla.

The discussions about Real Madrid and Mourinho have never stopped.

Even though Real Madrid’s side believes the referee’s misjudgments were blatant, not everyone agrees.

Valencia’s coach Emery seized the opportunity for a minor retaliation against Mourinho, calling this Portuguese a ”crybaby.”

Previously, Mourinho mocked Emery as ”too fragile,” so this time, Valencia coach Emery grabbed the chance to also mock Mourinho.

Apart from Emery, Cruyff also criticized Mourinho.

During a pre-match press conference for the Catalonia United Team against the Honduras National Team, Barcelona’s ”godfather” remarked: ”Referees making mistakes is inevitable, but you need to act like an adult and learn to respect others. Mourinho is a good coach, but he only thinks about his team’s interests. His peers, like Bosque and Guardiola, not only excel but also contribute other values to society and other teams.”

Even the usually mild Xavi reacted.

Barcelona’s Xavi stated: ”Mourinho is undoubtedly an excellent coach but won’t be a part of football history. To write history, you need to offer something different, and he hasn’t brought anything new to football. Guardiola, however, has innovated football, contributing like Sacchi, Ferguson, and Cruyff.”

Athletic Bilbao’s coach Caparros also has his opinions about Mourinho. He believes Mourinho’s listing of referee errors is a strategy, saying, ”These are all part of football’s montage techniques. I believe if Sevilla wanted to, they could list 20 points about referee issues.”

Besides these coaches, some players have also spoken out, such as Franio, the center-back from Osasuna.

Osasuna had previously suffered from misjudgments in a match against Real Madrid, and center-back Franio said: ”Yesterday I watched the TV broadcast at home, and I don’t want to see such situations.”

”The referees indeed made some mistakes, but...”

”Real Madrid’s reaction was a bit excessive.”

”They don’t know what real inequality is, I think Mourinho’s attitude is incorrect. In fact, he has no reason to complain.”

”This season, we lower and mid-table teams are treated differently from the upper teams, but newspaper reports of our complaints don’t boost sales, whereas Mourinho’s complaints make headlines. That’s reality.”

Even Levante defender Rubost, who is about to face Real Madrid in the second leg of the King’s Cup, said: ”We suffered a lot from decisions in the first round of the league, but we won’t complain publicly because we believe the best solution to this issue is to remain silent. Referees are humans too and can make mistakes. The best approach is to support them so they’re not influenced by any pressure.”

Rubost’s words also triggered a war of words among the fans of both teams.

Levante certainly wants to believe that conceding 8 goals in this match was due to the home referee’s bias, especially considering the number of yellow cards, which shows Levante was clearly in the lead.

However, Real Madrid fans pointed out that if the referee hadn’t called two or three offsides, they wouldn’t have only scored 8 goals.

Levante fans are naturally dissatisfied, but in this aspect, they can’t say much and can only use the Ballon d’Or as leverage.

In recent La Liga football, when facing Real Madrid, they increasingly like to invoke Chen Zhong.

For instance, during the match against Levante, some Levante fans were shouting, ”Chen, open your eyes.”

This is a form of ”racial discrimination.” In fact, many Asian players hear such words when playing in Europe.

Perhaps this is why Levante was beaten so badly!

As for Chen...
