I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 646: Chapter 77: The Root of Everything, Chen!

Can you talk about tonight’s match?

When a reporter asked Mourinho this question, those familiar with his personality knew trouble was coming.

Although he’s smiling now, such a smile, such calmness, often precedes the storm.

A piece of paper was raised by Mourinho. His expression was slightly sarcastic, then he placed the paper flat on the table, examining it carefully, as if he were looking at a rare treasure.

The reporter who asked the question seemed to sense something too; he did not press but quietly waited.

The other reporters also held their breath, waiting for Mourinho to speak.

But Mourinho seemed to have learned Hitler’s speech techniques. After waiting quite a while, until everyone was focused on him, he unhurriedly opened his mouth: ”Do you know what this is? A list the club gave me.”

”It records 13 serious mistakes made by the referee today.”

The reporters below started to stir; some craned their necks as if they could see what was written on the paper this way.

Mourinho lazily turned the paper towards the reporters, smiling in a sarcastic way: ”But if I talk about these mistakes, then you won’t see me in the next match.”

”That day at Valdebebas Sports City, you asked me if I felt tired.”

”To be honest, when I’m coaching or playing the sport I love, I don’t feel pressured, but when they give me such a list of referee mistakes and want me to be the one criticizing the referee to protect the team, I do feel a bit tired.”

Mourinho’s words made the reporters’ expressions a bit subtle; they originally thought Mourinho at this time would make bold statements, worthy of his madman title, criticizing the match.

But contained within his words was a hint of something else.

Simply put, Mourinho’s aim was directed straight at the high levels of the Real Madrid Club.

If you had to name a particular person, it would be Real Madrid’s general manager, Valdano.

In this press conference, the Portuguese subtly implied that Valdano wasn’t providing enough protection for the team in front of the reporters.

Meanwhile, in his speech, he subtly expressed that if he must have a direct superior, then it would be Real Madrid’s president, Florentino, and not the so-called general manager Valdano.

Everything Mourinho said shocked everyone. Francisco was astonished looking at Mourinho, and even the face of the press officer standing next to Francisco turned a little.

He wanted to step up and stop the Real Madrid coach from continuing, but Francisco held him back; after all, if a press officer and Mourinho were to argue and have conflicts in such a setting, then it would truly be a joke.

Mourinho glanced at Francisco, then at the press officer, let out a light laugh, and continued: ”My team should get more protection, but if I take this list and speak my mind.”

”We all know what would happen.”

”History would repeat itself—Mourinho gets suspended.”

The eyes of the reporters below flashed with excitement; their glances revealed a sense of thrill.

He said it; he really said it.

They anticipated Mourinho to continue with some explosive news, preferably conflicts like those involving Guardiola and the Barcelona higher-ups, which people loved to see.

But Mourinho didn’t continue as they wished; this famous Portuguese coach shifted his tone, his voice and gaze becoming sharp: ”This is a club with its own management.”

”When I came here, I knew they have many mature, systematic rules.”

”What do I mean by this? It means I hope someone can protect our team, not just me.”

”What happened today isn’t even worth discussing.”

”After all, my team has excellent players, a spiritual flag and totem, even if we faced some unfair judgments, even if we were one man down.”

”But!”

”We obtained what we deserved.”

”Unfortunately, there’s still the King’s Cup midweek—after such six months, the players should get a vacation to rest properly; some players are already very tired, for example, Chen, but we still have to deal with those matches.”

Mourinho’s tone carried some sarcasm; he was mocking some higher-ups’ incompetence and also accusing certain specific people who obstructed his major transfer plans.

A reporter couldn’t contain themselves and asked: ”Have you thought about meeting with Florentino to discuss these issues?”

”Talk about everything the team has been through recently, including the protection issues?”

Mourinho looked at the reporter, playfully said: ”Of course, I need to request an emergency meeting with the president.”

”He is my superior, the top leader.”

”I can speak very directly with him because we have a good relationship.”

”We chat every week.”

”But now it’s a time to be frank.”

There was an uproar below; someone couldn’t help but think of Schuster, they all had a stress reaction when it came to frank talks.
