Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

”But it certainly contains kaolin and quartz sand inside. I don’t know the exact ratio, but judging from this weight... I estimate the shrinkage rate to be reduced to between 8% and 9%.”

”However, it’s no problem. When I patch the body, I’ll add some inert materials like alumina to control the shrinkage rate to 0.5%... Hmm, because there’s a requirement for precision, this number must be exact.”

In fact, when Li Younan received this replica, the material ratio of this set of porcelain had already emerged in his mind, even a more precise shrinkage rate was there.

But he could not say it too precisely, as that would seem too incredible.

The ability given to him by the system felt as if some kind of sensation was guiding him from the dark.

Upon hearing Li Younan’s answer, Master Luo’s pupils slightly contracted.

Because the data Li Younan provided was almost identical to the real answer, the shrinkage rate was indeed 8.4%!

One must know, Li Younan hadn’t tested it, yet he was able to accurately provide the answer just based on experience?

He glanced at the director, interrupting what he was about to say, ”Alright, Xiaoli, you start!”

The director paused for a moment, looked at Master Luo, forcibly suppressing what he was going to say.

Li Younan did not pay attention to the mental activities of others, nodded, and said, ”Specific parameters, Master Luo, please don’t provide those for me. Because when actually restoring that artifact, there’s no way to obtain those parameters, so let’s use practical combat as the goal!”

...

In fact, the most important procedure for patching the body is parameter measurement and analysis.

Yet, relying on the judgment given to him by the system, Li Younan’s brain had already envisaged a rough range that, while not absolutely without error, was an almost certain thing.

This feeling is very mysterious, hard to narrate in scientific terms, after all, the system itself is not a very scientific thing.

The reason he confidently stated that he could solve this tricky issue within half a day is precisely because the most important parameter measurement and analysis takes others at least two days. However, he only needed to reverse-verify whether his figures were accurate.

Those who often solve math problems know that when you know the answer to a problem, reverse-verifying the correctness of the answer is very simple. You don’t even need to reverse-engineer the process, you can verify it with other methods.

Li Younan measured the density of the ceramic body using lab equipment. Next, it’s designing the body, needing a complete processing drawing, a step which Li Younan planned to skip.

Ancient people had confidence like ’having the entire strategy in the chest’, his current status was perhaps ’having the axis in the chest’.

Next comes the time-consuming part of shaping and making the axis.

When others noticed Li Younan skipped the step of design drawing, they couldn’t help but look at each other.

Yet Li Younan had already started working, despite others being full of surprise, no one said much more.

When Li Younan started making the axis, he also deeply took a breath.

The upcoming work requires extremely high precision, and Li Younan completely relied on feeling to do it.

The feeling is very mysterious, sometimes it can even surpass calculation.

When Li Younan began shaping the body, many of the ceramic masters present revealed surprised expressions.

Li Younan didn’t use any molds, but manually shaped, and filled in the missing parts of the body. The whole process was exceptionally smooth and accurate.

As the saying goes, when a master begins, it becomes obvious. Until this step, they realized why Li Younan was so confident—

His hands were incredibly steady!

They had never seen such stable hands!

Thanks to several skill enhancements Li Younan had previously acquired, each of his artisanal skills strengthened the stability of his hands to varying degrees.

To what extent were his hands accurate and stable now?

If there was a surgery in the world that required the most stable hands of a surgeon to perform... If Li Younan’s hands couldn’t do it, then there wouldn’t be any surgeon in the world who could successfully perform such a surgery.

Li Younan was also very aware of his advantages, and the whole process actually didn’t take much time.

There’s a misconception that when repairing artifacts by making the body, one doesn’t necessarily have to use the artifact’s original material for the missing parts.

In a sense, repairing artifacts isn’t about molding a new finger from the flesh and blood of a person missing a finger, but rather using prosthetics, high-polymer nanomaterials to make a brand-new finger that looks identical to the original finger, without detectable flaws.

Therefore, the materials Li Younan chose didn’t require the lengthy processing time of traditional ceramics.

Without any measurement, merely relying on his eyes and hands, Li Younan had completed the manual shaping and body-matching.

Next is the most time-consuming part—the firing process, which is also the most test of experience.

Because if the temperature isn’t controlled well, it can easily cause cracking or deformation, and if the previous shrinkage rate calculations aren’t accurate enough, it can easily result in loss of precision, ruining the assembly step... all efforts wasted.

Li Younan controlled the temperature of the kiln, he also turned very serious at this point, still not focusing on the numbers shown on the instrument, only observing the flames and the state of the ceramic body inside the kiln with the naked eye.
