Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

When Li Younan woke up in the morning, the fire in the fireplace hadn’t completely gone out yet.

The warmth from the embers made the room cozy. The smoke ventilation was so well designed that not a hint of smoke bothered him in bed.

Li Younan yawned, stretched lazily, and slowly crawled out of the sleeping bag.

To be honest, he didn’t have a thermometer, but he guessed the temperature inside the shelter was at least above 20 degrees, very warm. His sleeping bag was a multi-season bag with a winter down layer that could be added, but had not been needed yet.

Every morning, he felt like it was still summer until he decided to open the shelter door to go outside, only to be driven back by the cold in an instant.

Li Younan shoveled the ashes from the stove, took them outside, and poured them into a wooden box—wood ash had many uses in the wild, so he always collected them after a burn.

He then looked at a few sparks in the stove, gently blew on them, and rebuilt the fire rack, adding more wood.

The resin-rich pine wood quickly reignited into a raging fire in the stove.

Next, he placed a small kettle for boiling water on the stove and began to prepare breakfast for himself.

Today’s breakfast could have a slight variation.

Li Younan recorded the scene with a camera: he took out four bird eggs he had found yesterday from a jar and said with a smile, ”Today’s breakfast includes a cup of fresh goat milk, fried eggs, and a serving of fried blood sausage.”

By this time, the water on the stove had boiled. Li Younan took the kettle down, poured it into the wooden basin next to him, added a little cold water, tossed a towel in, and had a comfortable hot wash.

Then, facing the camera, he explained, ”Folks, let me share an interesting fact.”

”I recommend brushing teeth after breakfast because the fluoride in toothpaste can effectively protect teeth for 8-12 hours. Therefore, there’s no need to brush teeth immediately upon waking up; it’s best to clean your teeth after breakfast.”

After frying the eggs and preparing the blood sausage, Li Younan placed the food on a fine ceramic plate.

Paired with a ceramic cup of goat milk, it looked very exquisite.

This breakfast felt as presentable as a hotel buffet.

Li Younan recorded the scene with his camera and then regretfully said, ”If it were a proper Western breakfast, there should be two servings of whole wheat toast accompanied at this point. Unfortunately, there’s no rice or wheat crops.”

”But I checked the information earlier, and near Chilco Lake, there should be Canadian wild rice, long and black, closely related to rice, and there should be a substantial quantity.”

”However, it seems to be relatively rare near the shelter where we live.”

”September is precisely the season when wild rice matures. If the weather improves in the next few days, we can try searching the marshlands around the lake. Honestly, we haven’t explored much around the lake yet.”

Li Younan isn’t particularly gluttonous, but he still tries to ensure variety in each meal.

In this lonely and solitary time, adding some different colors to life every day is what supports him and keeps him going.

Yes, even though he lacks for nothing, there remains a sense of loneliness at this point of impending victory.

He confirmed his mental health was intact but began to gradually understand the previous contestant who gave up despite having large prey due to loneliness.

Li Younan finished breakfast, made himself a cup of hot tea, and added two pieces of berry sugar.

Drinking the sweet tea, his mood slightly improved.

So, there is scientific basis for why some girls binge on sweets when feeling down, as eating some sweets indeed helps lift one’s spirits during bad moods.

However, this negative feeling fades quickly because he’s not truly lonely.

The young ewe made noises outside.

Li Younan opened the back door, letting in a gust of cold wind.

The young ewe looked at him eagerly—it had pooped inside the shelter again yesterday, so as punishment, Li Younan made it stay out overnight.

Li Younan tapped the ewe on the head: ”Do you know your mistake?”

Of course, it didn’t understand, but having no one to talk to, chatting with the ewe was rather amusing.

The ewe ignored Li Younan and squeezed inside the moment the door opened, then nestled beside the fire, gently shaking off some of the snowflakes on its body.

Li Younan snorted and said grumpily, ”So you’re ignoring me.”

He closed the door.

Likely because the ewe’s lamb had passed away quite some time ago, and the milk production of mammalian livestock like cattle and sheep naturally decreases.

Overall, the ewe’s milk output had declined from initially producing three liters of milk a day to barely squeezing out a cup overnight.

Li Younan still had over ten pounds of butter, enough to last him more than two months even with daily consumption.

There was also a large jar of cheese, so Li Younan couldn’t be bothered to make more butter.

Plus, now with the cooling weather, he no longer worried about the goat milk spoiling overnight, allowing him to enjoy fresh milk every morning.

Having provided Li Younan with milk for such a long time, he had never planned to eat the ewe before, and naturally, he wouldn’t consider it now.

Once the ewe stops producing milk entirely, it will be time to release it back into the wild.

Judging from the trend of decreasing milk production, that day won’t be far off.
