Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

As everyone knows, when people are extremely bored, they tend to do some strange things.

A bored person’s energy is limitless.

After Li Younan sent away the little ewe, it stopped snowing the very next day.

However, outside the shelter was still relatively better off, as he had laid a layer of gravel to ensure that after the snow melted, it wouldn’t turn into a muddy mess.

Li Younan used a wooden shovel he made himself to clear the snow at his doorstep; wasn’t this also a kind of sweeping away the snow in front of one’s own door?

In other areas outside the shelter, the snow was at least over ten centimeters thick.

With such thick snow, not to mention going out to search for food, even just taking a stroll outside the shelter was quite a demanding task.

Fortunately, the show provided each contestant with sunglasses, cold-resistant clothing, and a waterproof jacket, making it not too difficult to move around in the snow with waterproof boots on.

Li Younan inspected his territory.

When he first arrived here, he chose this place as a shelter for two main reasons: one was the leeward slope, allowing for wind protection; the other was that the terrain was relatively high, providing good drainage.

And now, after inspecting the area, Li Younan suddenly realized something — there was a perfect slope from here towards the lakeside, about 200 meters in length.

And what use is a slope?

It’s common knowledge that with snow on a slope, it can be used for skiing.

Realizing this made Li Younan extremely excited.

Currently, there was no skiing equipment, but that wasn’t a problem for him.

Li Younan turned on his sports camera and said, ”Guys, I suddenly discovered something fun. Next, we’re going to chop some wood.”

Li Younan still chose spruce wood.

The whole afternoon ahead, he spent crafting his skiing gear.

Although wooden skis aren’t as good as carbon fiber ones, they are definitely good enough for a simple glide.

He sat in the yard, where the accumulated snow had been shoveled away, piled in a corner to form a snowman.

Without the snow, the reflectivity in the yard wasn’t that strong.

Seated in a chair, Li Younan used an axe-turned-plane to carefully shave off the rough parts of the spruce board, making it very smooth.

He made a single board, with a design that allowed shoes to slot in perfectly, and used scraps of cowhide to make a fastening device.

Unfortunately, after making his skiing gear, it was already afternoon, and he couldn’t go skiing just yet.

The 200-meter or so downhill slope wasn’t a smooth, unobstructed trail; there were plenty of random plants growing on the course, as well as rock obstacles in some places, so it needed to be cleared further.

Anyway, with plenty of time on his hands and nothing else to do, Li Younan turned on the camera to show the audience his work scene.

Once Li Younan began officially clearing the course, he realized it wasn’t a small amount of work.

The snow at that time wasn’t compacted yet, and while clearing the path, there were numerous obstacles that needed to be moved, and certain plants and trees had to be cut down.

Although Li Younan’s skiing skills were exceptional, what he was doing at the moment was, in a sense, adventuring, so it was best to ensure everything was perfect.

He was busy until evening, finishing up just before darkness fell.

The good news was, the course he eventually cleared was already very well done.

Li Younan had cleared a two-to-three-meter wide slope with almost no obstacles.

This ski track was naturally not a straight line all the way; those obstacles had naturally formed the curve challenges on the ski path.

Near the bottom of the ski slope, Li Younan even piled up stones and soil he cleared to one corner, shoveling over lots of snow and compacting it to create a jump ramp.

For tonight, Li Younan planned to rest, seeing as how this was a desolate wild area and nighttime didn’t provide the conditions for skiing.

He returned to the shelter, stoked up the fire in the stove, and lit a beacon in the yard.

He then poured the hot water, heated while making the skis during the day, into the bath barrel, and turned on the mineral radio to catch up on the outside news.

Soaking in a hot bath is indeed a very relaxing and enjoyable experience, quickly relieving fatigue; the lactic acid accumulated from the day’s work rapidly dissipated in this moment.

Li Younan suddenly thought of something and sighed — usually, at this hour, the little ewe would quietly sleep beside the stove, and while bathing, he might even splash some water from the tub to tease the ewe.

However, the little ewe had to be returned to nature; otherwise, it would starve to death.

The next day, Younan woke up feeling refreshed.

He prepared a simple breakfast for himself.

Without the little ewe, there was no fresh sheep milk to drink in the morning.

Li Younan made himself a cup of sweet tea and ate a piece of blood sausage.

The blood sausage tasted really good, mainly because when roasted, it remains relatively soft and not dry.

Unfortunately, he was about to run out of blood sausage... Once it’s gone, the only preserved meat left will be beef.

The beef, since it’s smoked and dehydrated, would surely become hard and dry, and would be most unpalatable if eaten directly grilled.

Typically, Li Younan would cook it by boiling, or fry it with butter or beef tallow.

There’s still a fair amount of butter left, enough to last for another two months or so, with even more beef tallow to spare.

Fishing had also become more challenging these days, and it had been quite a while since Li Younan caught any fish.

Currently, the tastiest food was wild rice, and to make the wild rice last longer, he restricted his daily intake.

However, this isn’t a sustainable way. Right now, the only option is to wait until the lake surface is completely frozen to try ice fishing.

At times like this, fresh fish surpasses other foods in taste... He couldn’t help but find it amusing, remembering how when he first arrived here, he got so sick of eating fish.

Oh, people...

But Li Younan didn’t say these thoughts into the camera.

He knew very well that the other competitors likely aren’t living as comfortably as he is. Maybe having food is their main goal, while he’s here being picky. Broadcasting that would just be too much like Versailles.

After breakfast, Li Younan excitedly took his snowboard and went outside.

He set up the camera at several spots along the slope, so he could capture his entire skiing posture.

Then, standing at the start of the ski slope, Li Younan put on his skis, shouted ”Yoohoo,” and slid down.

In such boring times, the novelty and excitement brought by skiing are incredibly precious.

The wind howled past his face and ears, and this intense interaction with nature made his body and mind feel transparent and free.

Wearing sunglasses, Li Younan couldn’t help but look up at the sun in the sky and thought to himself: Perfect!

...

The staff responsible for the body check contacted Kanna again.

Now whenever she has a body check, she can’t help but pray for a long time: ”Please meet the standard, please meet the standard.” This time was no exception.

After the staff checked all of Kanna’s physiological indicators, everyone had a somewhat helpless expression.

Because Kanna’s weight had dropped again, but it was still within the range that wouldn’t get her eliminated.

The staff sighed and said, ”Kanna, congratulations, your weight meets the standard.”

Kanna breathed a sigh of relief and excitedly said, ”Yes, yes, I figured it would. My wild rice is at least enough for me to eat for three more weeks.”

Hearing this, the staff exchanged glances, feeling a bit complicated.

The thing is... Kanna doesn’t have as much wild rice as Li Younan.

Li Younan’s wild rice could also last that long, but he eats several times more wild rice per meal than Kanna. Plus, wild rice is just a side dish for him. His meals also include a lot of meat, butter, and even starch.

Kanna said, ”I go to the forest every day to set traps. Although I haven’t caught much lately, this task doesn’t require much energy. I just spend half an hour on it and then return to the shelter.”

”I try to stay quiet, conserve my energy, and reduce my energy consumption, so I can better maintain my weight. I believe I can hold out till the end.”

The staff exchanged glances, and one of them couldn’t help but say, ”Alright, ma’am, all we can do is wish you good luck. When you can’t hold on anymore, be sure to call us on the satellite phone, and we’ll be there immediately.”

Kanna smiled, ”Don’t worry, I can still keep going.”

What she didn’t realize was that the staff’s words weren’t actually encouragement, but a caution.

After leaving Kanna, the staff continued towards Li Younan’s shelter.

”Guys, honestly, even though Kanna’s situation is quite pitiful, her way of conserving energy might actually let her hold out a bit longer.”

The others all nodded in agreement.

After all, females generally have less muscle mass than males, lower metabolic rates, and lower energy consumption. And Kanna’s intentional reduction in consumption could definitely buy her more time.

But what good would that do?

It’s nothing but prolonging her own suffering.

For Kanna, who was in the dark, she naturally didn’t sense anything, but those outside the game couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for her.

They then started talking about Li Younan: ”The last time he went for a body check, Li Younan’s weight had increased by a kilogram. He’s been staying in the shelter for a long time due to heavy snow, and his daily food intake is so high in calories.”

The others couldn’t help but chuckle.

In a way, if the weather’s bad, it might actually give Li Younan a break... this guy has no concept of conserving energy at all.

At this time, another staff member looked at the sky and said, ”The weather is really nice today, what do you think Li Younan is up to again?”

While chatting, they quickly reached the open space below Li Younan’s shelter.

The staff asked the cameraman to turn on the equipment, preparing to start filming the show — they would turn on the cameras at least a few hundred meters before reaching the competitors’ shelters to provide more footage options for post-editing.

As they were about to climb up, one of the staff members suddenly looked puzzled: ”Hey, wait, what’s that up there?”

Following his gaze, the others all changed their expressions in the next moment.

They saw a figure rapidly gliding down from the slope above!

”What is that?”

When everyone saw what the figure was standing on, their expressions froze — skis?

Why is there something like skis!

Li Younan was standing on the skis, skillfully using the edge of the skis to maneuver through the snow, moving freely like a sprite in the ice and snow, snow powder dancing at the edges of his skis.

Several staff members watched in awe as he swiftly approached a location that resembled a jump platform.

Then, without any hesitation, Li Younan pushed off with his feet, propelling himself from the ski jump into the air.

His body flipped backward in the air, then curled up, landing steadily back on the slope, and then made a sharp stop right in front of the staff.

Snow powder scattered into dreamy fragments in front of the cameraman’s lens.
