Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

The vast majority of people often lose their composure and become panicked in extremely urgent situations, losing their judgment.

But there are also some people who become extraordinarily calm—the more urgent the situation, the calmer they get, and Li Younan happens to be one of them.

With a few strides, Li Younan had already set the arrow on his bowstring.

If the bear is still at his shelter next, he plans to shoot it with his first arrow immediately and then quickly create some distance.

It’s important to know that as the top predator in this area, a black bear has tough skin, impressive strength, and an astonishing bite force, along with respectable speed.

But it’s okay, after the first arrow hits, he will make sure to follow up with a few more shots before the bear gets close.

Fight while retreating, and when it gets close, finish the battle with his hunting knife.

Don’t forget, Li Younan has a skill that he almost never uses—Chinese swordsmanship, and the hunting knife can be used as a sword.

However, in reality, when the first arrow hits the black bear, chances are this creature will think about running away.

Li Younan’s mental activities are extremely rich, but in fact, it only takes a few breaths.

As he neared the shelter, his bowstring was drawn fully, eyes locked firmly ahead, ready to release the arrow the moment he saw the black bear.

However, the next moment Li Younan frowned.

At this moment, his vision included the house and the courtyard surrounded by wooden fences, but to his confusion, the movable cheval de frise gate at the entrance of the wooden fence hadn’t been damaged.

As for other areas, there were no traces of disturbance either.

The top of the wooden fence had all been sharpened into spikes by Li Younan, logically speaking, even the thick-skinned black bear would have difficulty getting impaled on it.

Li Younan did not dare to let his guard down, still maintaining the full-draw stance, he cautiously moved around the courtyard, searching for the possibly present black bear.

Near the backyard, his expression changed—there was a small gap in the wooden fence there.

He first created some distance, then adjusted his angle from afar, moving step by step... this way, even if there were a bear or other animal, he ensured he had ample distance and time to react.

A small gap at the bottom of the wooden fence at this spot, seemingly pried open by external force.

But such a small gap is too narrow for a black bear’s large size to get through.

After hesitating slightly, Li Younan slowly walked over and glanced at the backyard again.

There were no signs of any disturbance inside.

He breathed a slight sigh of relief and then opened the main door to go in.

He passed through the house and came to the backyard, where the ewe huddled trembling in the small wooden shed.

Seeing its timid and fearful appearance, Li Younan found it amusing. After carefully checking the ewe’s home and confirming no traces of the black bear having been there, he walked to the gap he had seen earlier and inspected it again.

Confirmed, the black bear indeed had been there but left without success.

The scent of sheep is very strong, and for an animal like the black bear, which has a keen sense of smell, it surely detected the ewe inside a long time ago.

But as it seems, it failed to open the wooden fence; after expending great effort to barely manage to create a small gap, it still couldn’t squeeze through and ultimately had no choice but to give up.

This discovery greatly excited Li Younan.

The outermost wooden fence was the weakest point of his defensive fortification. Although the entire wooden fence was built using a triangular cross structure, like a taller and more densely packed cheval de frise, it should be fairly stable, yet having never been tested in reality, Li Younan was uncertain about its ability to withstand a black bear attack.

But now, it’s confirmed, even a black bear couldn’t do much about it.

Previously, Li Younan occasionally worried that while he was asleep at night, if a bear or similar large animal approached the side of his house... it’d be quite a scare... although they couldn’t open the thick earthen walls, as it seems now, he was overthinking it.

Future sleeps could be more peaceful.

Of course, it could guard against bears, but not the agile feline creatures.

However, the largest feline animal around here is just the lynx, which in Li Younan’s view is not a concern.

With this confirmation, Li Younan was no longer tense.

The gap the bear forced open was no concern, leaving this gap at the cheval de frise just made other parts denser.

Feeling a bit regretful, if only this black bear had lingered a bit longer, it might have run into him upon his return, then besides beef, he could have sampled bear paw.

Looks like he’ll have to wait for another opportunity to hunt a bear.

Li Younan regretfully said to the action camera, ”Oh well, thought I’d have a chance to face off with a bear.”

Speaking as he turned off the action camera—something he’d immediately turned on as he came over earlier.

The ewe was still very frightened; indeed, though it hadn’t met the bear, it certainly smelled the bear’s scent.

Li Younan jokingly tapped its head, ”Hanging around me and still getting scared like this, it’s quite embarrassing.”

The ewe bleated twice.

Li Younan opened the wooden barrier, letting it into the house, giving it a bit of security.

After all, if it gets too scared, it could affect its milk production.

After doing this, Li Younan leisurely exited the courtyard, heading toward the direction of the wild cows.
