Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

However, there’s still bad news; she hasn’t got much wild rice left.

”I’ve been eating very sparingly, but the remaining wild rice is only enough for about a week.”

At this point, the usually optimistic Kanna couldn’t help but sigh, ”I don’t know the opponent’s situation, and this feeling of the unknown is the most excruciating.”

Yet, she quickly calmed down and solemnly analyzed in front of the camera: ”But I feel like maybe the other side is also like me, struggling to persevere. At this time, whoever can’t hold on first is the loser. After entering winter, hunting herbivorous animals becomes difficult, so even if someone hunted deer or sheep earlier, they should be finishing them soon. There’s no way someone could hunt a wild bison, right?”

Kanna naturally had no idea about Li Younan’s situation, and Li Younan was also unaware of Kanna’s predicament.

He merely focused on living each day well.

With the freezing of the lake, Li Younan finally had fresh fish added to his diet.

Of course, this gain didn’t come without a cost — he used a piece of beef as bait, and once he had the first catch, he could use fish scraps to continue fishing, which was quite worthwhile.

Fish fried in butter and beef fat emitted a mouthwatering aroma, paired with wild rice, it was far tastier than the previous bland dried beef.

But as days passed, loneliness unsurprisingly began to envelop him.

Though there was a crystal radio capable of picking up sounds from the outside world, over time, that little solace gradually faded and his heart felt empty.

Li Younan tried to tire himself out during the day, so at night he could fall asleep earlier, avoiding the grip of loneliness.

Apart from activities like carving and painting that require creativity, he preferred skiing — sliding down the hill and climbing back up, a process that consumed energy but temporarily allowed him to forget distractions.

However, after repeating it many times, it inevitably became boring, leading him to plan to expand the skiing area.

He remembered a nice slope near the valley where he had found the little ewe earlier. Sliding down from there would certainly be exciting.

Before setting off, Li Younan didn’t forget to bring his bow and hunting knife.

In wilderness survival, regardless of how leisurely he felt, he always maintained the highest level of caution with his weapon.

After all, without a weapon, even dealing with a lynx-like feline would be difficult for empty-handed humans.

Preparing his gear, he took a deep breath of the chilly air and headed toward the valley he recalled.

A string of footprints, varying in depth, was left on the snow, while the distant trees swayed silently in the wind and snow, as if watching over the solitary explorer.

...

Speaking somewhat self-mockingly to the sports camera, Li Younan said, ”Who knows, in the depths of winter, I walked for almost an hour just to find a place suitable for skiing. Guys, let me tell you exactly how it feels; ’Alone in the Wilderness’ is definitely not as easy as you imagine.”

”Honestly, I really kind of miss my mother now.”

Li Younan didn’t turn off the sports camera. At this moment, he had already reached the foot of the slope. Looking at the snow-covered hill, he revealed a smile of excitement, ”Nice, the snow on this slope is perfect for skiing. Here the slope doesn’t have too many obstacles, and we can try sliding directly from above. Don’t worry, it’s very safe for me.”

”Now we need to prepare to climb up.”

As Li Younan was about to start climbing, suddenly, from the small grove behind him came a distinct sound that instantly changed his expression.

It was a very clear ”baa” sound, but it wasn’t a normal sheep call; even though he was far away, Li Younan could hear the sound of anguish as if it was suffering immense agony.

He hesitated for a moment, then dropped his skis, took down the bow and arrow from his back, fastened the arrow quiver at his waist, pulled out the hunting knife, and dashed towards that direction.

Throughout, Li Younan remained expressionless, his gaze seemingly calm, but his pace was incredibly swift.

A few minutes later, Li Younan maneuvered past several big trees and found the source of the earlier sound.

And the scene in front of him, at a certain moment, suddenly felt like a heavy hammer hitting Li Younan’s chest.

The sports camera on his chest stayed on, capturing the cruel scene.

A large gray bear pinned a goat beneath its basketball-sized paw.

The goat’s eyes continued to dart around, but its belly had been ripped open.

It was an extremely brutal slaughter.

In this area, the gray bear was indisputably the king of the food chain. No other animal could threaten its life, so it didn’t care about the prey’s feelings or need to kill it before enjoying its meal.

Li Younan watched for a long time in silence.

A calm voice rang out, slow in pace: ”This is an adult gray bear, incredibly heavy, standing up to about 2.2 meters tall. It has astonishingly quick running speed and bite strength, currently preparing for hibernation.”

Li Younan calmly narrated information about the beast, then directed his gaze toward the goat still not completely dead, his eyes steady but gradually igniting something.

”And the delicacy it’s now enjoying is the little ewe that gave me milk for dozens of days.”

”Why am I so certain? Because this little ewe is too stupid.”

”Sheep are certainly not highly intelligent animals; once it got burned by jumping coal while warming by the stove, and so its rump bears a very obvious burn scar.”

”I just knew, sheep really are stupid creatures.”

”When I first caught it, it always wanted to escape; remember, every time it tried to run away, I’d catch it back and give it a smack.”

”Not only stupid but cowardly too. That time, a lynx appeared outside the yard and nearly scared it witless.”

”When finally set to return it to freedom, it couldn’t even find the direction to the door. I had to forcibly drive it out before it returned to nature.”

”Sheep really are foolish.”

”Did it not realize the real advantage of a goat was on the cliffsides? If only it had been slightly cleverer and climbed up a cliff, the bear would’ve been left frustrated below.”

”Goats can die from a fall or drown accidentally while drinking, but of all things, it was eaten alive by a bear.”

While speaking, Li Younan’s hand raised the bow and arrow gradually, continuing, ”As for bears, they’re not stupid; they’re extremely clever; hence, they’re atop this region’s food chain.”

”It’s too arrogant, arrogant enough to fail to scout its surroundings while feeding.”

”But this bear isn’t aware of one thing, which is that the true apex of the food chain... has always been humans.”

”And that little dumb goat...”

”Dammit! I! Didn’t! Even! Eat! It! Myself!”

After uttering this, the next moment, suddenly stepping heavily from behind the tree with snow dust flying, while the taut bowstring snapped with a ”bang,” releasing a high-speed rotating sharp arrow!
