Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 541: Chapter 479 You Are Such A Fool! _2

Time passed by the second, and the atmosphere inside the Imperial Study Room was so quiet that it became suffocating, instilling a sense of panic in Nansheng’s heart.

Suddenly, Emperor Yanping spoke, ”What time is it now?”

”Your Majesty~~”

Nansheng was about to respond, but suddenly, a figure emerged from behind the curtain on Emperor Yanping’s left, ”Your Majesty, it’s already two hours past midday!”

Nansheng’s pupils abruptly narrowed, his gaze fixated on the figure.

This was a stranger, with a face he had never seen before.

He was, after all, the chief eunuch by Emperor Yanping’s side, not only in charge of Ritual Supervision but also secretly leading the Secret Martial Guards and overseeing the Imperial Guard Department.

Yet now, a face he had never seen before appeared beside Emperor Yanping, which he found somewhat unbelievable.

Emperor Yanping raised his head, noticing the shock on Nansheng’s face, and his lips slightly curled up.

”Nansheng!”

”Your servant is here!”

”Do you know who he is?”

”Your servant does not know!”

”Then, let me introduce him to you, Hei Dao, commander of the Black Blades!”

Emperor Yanping’s face carried a playful smile, his finger pointing to the right, ”And him, commander of the White Swords!”

Nansheng stiffly turned his head to look towards the right, only to see that another figure had also emerged from behind the curtain there at some point.

Blood Blades, he was well aware of them.

The Blood Blades were part of the Imperial Guard Department, but the department did not command the Blood Blades.

He had thought about taking control of the Blood Blades, but then he found out that there were only around a dozen members, who all appeared exceptionally cold, forcing him to give up on making contact with the Blood Blades.

In fact, the Blood Blades were not just a dozen people. For over three hundred years, since the founding of Da Rong, the Blood Blades always maintained forty-eight members.

The Blood Blades were divided into four squads: White Swords, Black Blades, Lei Qiang, and Wind Arrow.

Each squad consisted of twelve members, each with their own legacy.

Simply put, all forty-eight warriors of Blood Blade are descendants of the ancestors who were the Blood Blades three hundred years ago.

Therefore, the families and descendants of the Blood Blades are also known by another name, the Guardian Spirit Clan.

They guard the spirits of their ancestors, the spirit of the great founder.

And their dwelling is at the Imperial Mausoleum.

This secret was known by very few people in the entirety of Da Rong.

Nansheng did not know; he thought the Blood Blades were merely a dozen or so people.

Seeing White Swords and Black Blades emerging from behind the curtains, Nansheng’s panic grew increasingly intense.

And at that moment, a commotion erupted outside the palace.

Clatter, clatter, clatter~~

Neat footsteps, mixed with the sound of Iron Armor rubbing, surrounded Taiji Palace.

”Your Majesty!”

Nansheng looked at Emperor Yanping in astonishment.

Emperor Yanping stood up, glanced at him indifferently, ”Tell me, who are you working for?”

Nansheng’s pupils suddenly narrowed, and the next moment, he fell to his knees with a thump.

”Your Majesty, your servant is loyal to you!”

”Loyal! Haha~~ I don’t want to hear your excuses, but as we have been master and servant, I am still willing to give you a chance!”

Emperor Yanping stood with his hands behind his back, his eyes filled with amusement while watching Nansheng.

”Do you think you have any other chance?”

Nansheng lay prostrate on the ground, trembling.

He was fearful, a fear that was intrinsic.

”Your servant, your servant~~”

He wanted to defend himself, but for a moment, he did not know how to argue.

Since Emperor Yanping had already made a move, it meant everything outside was ready.

”You should be very familiar with the torture tactics of the Secret Martial Guards, if you want to try them out, I have no objections!”

Emperor Yanping looked at him coldly, then turned and walked towards the door.

”Your Majesty!”

Nansheng wanted to plead, but just as he lifted his head, a blade and a sword appeared before his eyes.

The edge of the blade as dark as ink, the sword’s edge like a mirror, reflecting his eyes full of fear.

Looking at his own eyes and feeling the panic from the bottom of his heart, Nansheng suddenly felt as if all his strength was drained, collapsing to the ground, his face ashen.

”Your Majesty, your servant doesn’t know!”

As Emperor Yanping reached the doorway and stopped, he turned back to look at him, ”Don’t know!”

”He claims to be the Red Monarch!” Nansheng spoke hoarsely.

”Red Monarch!” Emperor Yanping’s expression flickered slightly, ”So why have you betrayed me?”

”This old servant, this old servant~~” Nansheng hesitated, looking pleadingly at Emperor Yanping, ”It was due to my greed, I did wrong! They caught me by my wrongdoings!”

However, Emperor Yanping showed a surprised expression, ”Greed, doing wrong! Is it because of those things you’ve been hoarding?”

”Your Majesty knows!” Now it was Nansheng’s turn to be shocked.

Emperor Yanping shook his head with some helplessness, ”You truly are a fool!”

Wouldn’t he know about Nansheng’s greed?

After all, they had grown up together as companions.

Nansheng had hoarded many things, starting from his time in Prince Cheng’s residence; he enjoyed antiques, calligraphy and paintings, jade treasures. Later when Emperor Yanping became Crown Prince, Yang Zhenshan had presented many glass ornaments and the methods of making glass, most of which Nansheng greedily kept for himself.

As for the rest, over the years Nansheng had amassed quite a collection, even specifically setting up a courtyard outside the Imperial City to store these items.

Emperor Yanping knew all this, but he did not care too much.

After all, he was just a servant; if he wished, he could take all of Nansheng’s possessions at any time.

In his view, the treasures Nansheng stored were as good as his own, merely transferring from one hand to another.

But this fool actually betrayed him because of this!

Emperor Yanping was truly laughed at by anger!

Nansheng was cruelly capable but lacked cleverness, he could handle some sinister tricks, but one shouldn’t expect him to be wise.

Emperor Yanping had already lost his patience with Nansheng.

Clearly, the man was tricked by others, even daring to do so much for someone whose identity he didn’t even know.

Red Monarch!

That title was unheard of!NovelFire

And of unknown origin!

Emperor Yanping waved his hand and walked out of the study.

Behind him, Bai Jian and Hei Dao stepped forward mercilessly and severed Nansheng’s limbs, the intense pain elicited a piercing scream from Nansheng, but his screams soon stopped as several young eunuchs dragged him out of the study like a dead dog.

Standing at the door, Emperor Yanping watched as thousands of Guards of the Feather Forest soldiers had already surrounded the Taiji Palace.

At the same time, a large number of personal army soldiers had poured into the Imperial City, surrounding several main halls.

Inside the Wenyuan Pavilion, Song Yuange, Zhou Yunsong, and several other elders were confused by the surrounding personal army.

”Generals, what is the meaning of this?”

Song Yuange stepped forward, frowning as he spoke.

”Greetings to the elders, by His Majesty’s command, we are here to seal off the Imperial City. Please, elders, do not panic. We are here only to protect you!” The leading general replied.

Song Yuange looked at him, about to inquire what had happened, but with sharp eyes, he noticed a group hurrying eastward in the distance.

In front of Wenyuan Pavilion is Wenhua Palace, both located east of Taiji Palace and Fengtian Hall.

And to the east of Wenyuan Pavilion were the Imperial Guard Department and the Imperial Hospital.

Song Yuange keenly spotted a familiar figure; at first, he thought he was mistaken, but he quickly confirmed he was not wrong.

”Wait, Eunuch Chen, wait~~” Song Yuange couldn’t help shouting, ignoring the personal army soldiers’ prevention and ran out.

Chen Zhongshu, who was heading to the Imperial Guard Department, saw Song Yuange running over and couldn’t help but stop in his tracks.

”It is Elder Song, I have seen Elder Song!” Chen Zhongshu said with a smile.

”Not at all, Eunuch Chen, what brings you here?” Song Yuange glanced at the people behind Chen Zhongshu; he also saw Wang Zhongzhi.

Not only Wang Zhongzhi, but also Lv Hua and the other three admirals of Secret Martial Guards.

General of Northern Station Lv Hua, General of South Station Ning Qi, General of Eastern Garrison Yan Bo, General of Western Station Zhang Wuchang.

All four generals of Secret Martial Guards appeared at once, along with Wang Zhongzhi who had been stripped of his position and imprisoned, and Chen Zhongshu who should have been at the Imperial Mausoleum.

This was clearly a significant event!

”Elder Song, do not worry; I am here by His Majesty’s command, just to clear out some little mice!”

”Hehe, when I’ve caught all these little mice, I’ll come back to chat with Elder Song!”

”Elder Song, please stay; I must leave first!”

Saying this, Chen Zhongshu bowed and headed towards the direction of the Imperial Guard Department.

Wang Zhongzhi and the others also bowed to Song Yuange and followed Chen Zhongshu.

Song Yuange watched their retreating figures, his face filled with a grave expression.

Clearly, this was no small matter!

Imperial Guard Department?

Song Yuange had some thoughts in his mind.

Although he was not very clear on the many things Nansheng had done recently, he was somewhat aware of some issues, such as internal problems within the Secret Martial Guards and the death of Yi Lishen, which were vaguely related to Nansheng.

However, after all, this was a matter of the inner court, and he, as the Grand Secretary, really had no place to intervene.

This was where he lacked compared to Li Siyuan; if Li Siyuan were still there, he would certainly have a clear understanding of all this.
