Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 510: Chapter 463: Concealing Breath Skill, Family Matters _2

Yu Qingyi cared only about the reputation of the lady.

Although it was just a childhood betrothal and they had not yet married, Miss Sun from Marquis Haichang’s Mansion could not escape some rumors of cursing her husband.

”Shall we settle this matter then?” Yu Qingyi asked.

Yang Zhenshan thought for a moment, ”Let Chengxian decide for himself after he sees her, if he has no objections, then it’s fine!”

Chengxian is eager to go to the Personal Guard Camp for training, he probably won’t have any objections.

Still, Yang Zhenshan felt it more appropriate for him to meet her in person, as he has always disapproved of blind and mute marriages.

Besides, when Yang Chengye and Mrs. Yu were discussing the marriage before, both had met in the Capital City.

”Ming Zhi probably won’t have time to go to the Capital City!” Yu Qingyi said.

”Then let Ming Cheng go, he is free at home anyway!” Yang Zhenshan smiled.

Ming Zhi is Chengxian’s own father, but if the father can’t go, the uncle can step in.

Moreover, Yang Mingcheng is the successor of the Marquis Jing’an Mansion, his taking Yang Chengxian with him could also show Marquis Haichang how much the Marquis Mansion values Chengxian.

”Why don’t we wait until after the New Year? We are planning to go to the Capital City to deliver New Year’s gifts anyway, let Ming Cheng take Chengxian along!”

”In Yang Family Village this year, why not let Chengye go back for a visit!”

Previously, during every festival, Yang Mingcheng would represent the Yang family to return for ancestor worship and deliver New Year’s gifts, and now that Chengye is married, he is capable of representing the Yang family.

Yang Family Village is also considered a place with good feng shui; over ten years ago when there was a severe drought in the Northern area and Chongshan Town, Yang Family Village was almost unaffected. This year, despite the severe drought in Liaodong, Yang Family Village was not badly affected either.

Ever since Yang Zhenshan came to this world, Yang Family Village has always enjoyed favorable weather.

While the two were talking, suddenly a bustling noise came from outside the door.

Qingxia and Red Cloud were about to go see what happened when a granny in a blue cotton-padded jacket ran in joyfully.

”Marquis, Marchioness, great joy, great joy, Miss Sun is pregnant!”

Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi looked at each other, then both smiled.

”Has Doctor Li felt her pulse?” Yu Qingyi asked.

Doctor Li, named Li Juntang, is the most famous doctor within Chongshan Pass and a distinguished guest in the mansions of the area.

Although the Yang family has trained a few doctors, their skills are average, sufficient for treating common colds but not for more serious conditions.

However, the Yang family members rarely fall sick, so they only occasionally invite Doctor Li.

”He has already been invited and made the diagnosis!” The granny’s old face beamed like a bright chrysanthemum.

She is Mrs. Yu’s accompanying granny, and was even selected from the palace by the Empress.

Mrs. Yu’s pregnancy is great news for the Yang family, and even more significant for Mrs. Yu and those close to her.

For women, children are foundational support.

Especially since the Yang family has a rule that men cannot take a concubine until they are thirty and childless, the significance of a child need not be overstated.

Yu Qingyi got up and winked at Red Cloud, who immediately took out a purse and handed it to the granny.

”This is from the Marchioness as a reward!”

”Thank you, Marchioness, thank you Miss Red Cloud!” The granny smiled even more brightly.

”I will go have a look!” Yu Qingyi told Yang Zhenshan.

Yang Zhenshan also stood up, ”Let’s go together!”

Sun’s daughter-in-law is pregnant, and next year his generation increases by one.

As the first child of the fourth generation of the Yang family, Yang Zhenshan naturally places extra importance.

Immediately, Red Cloud and Qingxia promptly brought fur coats for Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi to wear.

By the time they arrived at Yang Chengye’s courtyard, the place was filled with cheerful voices.

”Has someone been sent to call Mr. Sun?” Yu Qingyi asked.

”Replying to the Marchioness, Manager Wu has already sent someone to the army camp!” Yu Shi’s head maid, Yuzhu said.

Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi walked into the main hall, but only Yu Qingyi went into the inner chamber, while Yang Zhenshan stayed in the main hall accompanying Li Juntang.

Li Juntang, already of advanced age, is not only a formidable doctor but also a Martial Artist, although his cultivation is only at the Postnatal Third Layer.

A moment later, Yu Qingyi and Mrs. Yu came out from the inner room.

”Grandpa!”

Mrs. Yu offered a slightly shy bow.

Yang Zhenshan smiled, ”Now that you’re pregnant, take good care of yourself. Our Yang family is still waiting for you to continue the family line!”

Realizing the implications of those words, he quickly added, ”Even if it is a daughter, don’t be sad. There’s still plenty of time ahead, and as long as you’re healthy, there’s no rush!”

The preference for boys over girls is unavoidable, even in the Yang family.

And as Mrs. Yu is the wife of the eldest grandson of the Yang family, the pressure is inevitable.

If it turns out to be a daughter, she might not like it.

Hearing this, Mrs. Yu showed a sweet smile, ”Grandpa, rest assured, your granddaughter-in-law will take good care of herself.”

”I still have plenty of ginseng and Treasure Medicine. I’ll have the wet nurse by your side get some from Wu Hai!” Yang Zhenshan cheerfully said.

”Granddaughter-in-law thanks Grandpa!” Mrs. Yu offered another bow.

Yang Zhenshan stood up, ”Doctor Li, let me escort you!”

Li Juntang, standing beside him, hurriedly waved his hands and said, ”Please, there’s no need, Marquis!”

But Yang Zhenshan disregarded his refusal and made a gesture of invitation, and seeing Yang Zhenshan’s insistence, Li Juntang no longer declined.

Just as they were walking out of the courtyard gate, Yang Chengye rushed back in haste.

”Grandpa!!”

”Yes, you go inside first!”

Yang Chengye gave a big smile, then bowed to Li Juntang and walked into the courtyard.

Yang Zhenshan continued to escort Li Juntang out, ”Doctor Li, I have a rather bold request, I wonder if you could help?”

”Marquis, please speak freely, if it’s within my ability, I will not refuse!” Li Juntang replied.

As they walked towards the front yard, Yang Zhenshan continued, ”Is it possible for your family’s medical texts to be shared externally?”

Li Juntang was initially stunned, then smiled, ”Marquis, you might be mistaken, our Li family has no medical lineage. My father was a disciple of the hermit from Qingyang Mountain, so our Li family’s medical knowledge comes from Qingyang Temple, with nothing forbidden to share!”

Da Rong’s Martial Arts prosper, as does Medical Skill.

However, compared to Martial Arts, there are fewer inheritances in medical skills.

Most doctors from common families inherit medical skills through family lineage, whereas in the worldly society, most medical inheritances come from Sects.

These two differ: the former excels in curing complex diseases, the latter in treating external injuries and in deeper understanding of herbs.

The expertise in treating external injuries needs no elaboration; Martial Artists constantly engage in fights, and injuries are common.

The profound knowledge of herbs is to use herbal medicine to assist in cultivation, such as herbal baths for the Body Refining Realm, and concoctions of Treasure Medicine for the Postnatal Realm, among others.

As for the Qingyang Temple, it’s actually a Daoist temple located outside Dingzhou City on the southern route of Chongshan Town.

Qingyang Temple is also a force within the worldly society, but it’s most famed not for Martial Arts inheritance but for its Medical Skill.

Throughout history, the heads of Qingyang Temple have been extremely skilled doctors.

Qingyang Temple often recruits and teaches apprentices from common folk, and many medical inheritances in Chongshan Town originate from Qingyang Temple.

”So that’s how it is!” Yang Zhenshan showed a look of realization, then said, ”Would it be too much trouble to ask Doctor Li to have a copy of your family’s medical texts made for me?”

Over the years, Yang Zhenshan has collected many medical skills, some for training military doctors during his time with the Tenglong Guard, cultivating many skilled in treating external wounds.

The rest is for his own learning started from the most basic preparation of herbs. Nowadays, he is well-versed in various herbal properties, and although he has never treated anyone, his knowledge isn’t inferior to that of an ordinary doctor.

Encountering Li Juntang today, he was suddenly inspired to acquire some medical texts.

”That’s no problem at all, I will have my son send the texts over tomorrow!” Li Juntang gladly agreed.

Qingyang Temple has no notion of guarding its treasures exclusively for itself, and naturally, neither does the Li family.

Besides, even if the Li family wanted to keep their texts secret, it would be pointless since Qingyang Temple has everything they have.

And for him, being able to help Yang Zhenshan even in a small way is also a blessing for the Li family.

After seeing off Li Juntang, Yang Zhenshan arranged for someone to send over two jars of Hundred Herbs Brew to the Li family.

Though Li Juntang made no demands, Yang Zhenshan couldn’t just take advantage of him; trading two jars of Hundred Herbs Brew for copying some medical texts, Li Juntang would surely not be at a loss.
