Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 517: Chapter 467: I Knew Mr. Zhang Was a Good Man!

After they left, Yang Zhenshan said to Lin Anguo: ”You go check on the injured brothers for me, I’ll have a chat with Mr. Zhang!”

”Your subordinate obeys!” Lin Anguo accepted the command with excited clenched fists.

”Ha ha, Mr. Zhang, what brings you out today with time to spare?” Yang Zhenshan approached Zhang Mingzhong, chuckling as he wrapped an arm around his shoulder.

Marquis, you mustn’t jest about us!” Zhang Mingzhong responded with a helpless smile.

He did leave the house on regular days, just rarely meddling in trivial matters.

Yang Zhenshan and Pang Tang wouldn’t invite him, so he couldn’t be bothered to join in and feel uneasy.

But ever since his arrival at Chongshan Pass, his life in Chongshan Town has been quite joyful and carefree, leisurely and content.

Back in the Imperial City, he had to serve the Emperor with utmost care, whereas now in Chongshan Town a bunch of people waited on him.

This feeling was completely different, hence his great satisfaction with his current life.

Even if asked to return to the Capital City now, he wouldn’t be willing.

After all, what’s better than being served by others!

Yang Zhenshan teasing him about having free time was actually inquiring why he was meddling in affairs.

He didn’t intend to interfere, but his identity was different after all; he was a eunuch from the palace. Yang Zhenshan might disregard Nansheng, but he had to be more cautious.

Nansheng could only trip up Yang Zhenshan in the dark, but if Nansheng wanted trouble for him, it really could be done with just a word.

Therefore, he could not stay out of the incident today.

Yang Zhenshan was aware of his predicament and laughed, ”Since we’ve run into each other, Mr. Zhang, why not join me for a few drinks!”

”Is the Marquis not busy?”

”Ha ha, I still have time to drink with Mr. Zhang!”

Saying this, Yang Zhenshan didn’t care whether Zhang Mingzhong was willing or not, and directly took him to the Marquis Mansion.

Once the drinks and dishes were served, Yang Zhenshan and Zhang Mingzhong clinked their cups in toast.

”Hehe, Mr. Zhang, have you heard from Chen recently?” Yang Zhenshan asked with a grin at the table.

”Chen! No!” Zhang Mingzhong shook his head.

”Really no news?” Yang Zhenshan raised an eyebrow.

Zhang Mingzhong sighed deeply, ”Ever since the previous Emperor passed away, I’ve lost contact with Chen.”

He was Chen Zhongshu’s man too, and his presence in Chongshan Town was partly thanks to Chen Zhongshu.

He had hoped to rely more on Chen Zhongshu, but once Emperor Chengping passed away, Chen Zhongshu went to guard the Imperial Mausoleum, and each letter he sent sank without a trace.

Yang Zhenshan tore off a lamb leg and gnawed on it voraciously, ”Nansheng seems to be growing more and more presumptuous!”

Zhang Mingzhong remained silent.

”You elders don’t even think to remind Your Majesty!” Yang Zhenshan continued.

Zhang Mingzhong could hardly bear it, ”Marquis, please speak cautiously, we are but Your Majesty’s domestic slaves.”

”It’s exactly because you are domestic slaves that you should take more initiative. Otherwise, what use is it for His Majesty to keep you?” Yang Zhenshan had no regard for Zhang Mingzhong’s prudence.

”If a servant of mine knew something and didn’t report it, humph, I would definitely send him to the countryside to farm!”

”...”

Zhang Mingzhong looked at Yang Zhenshan speechlessly, ”Marquis, please speak your mind, what do you want me to do?”

Yang Zhenshan grinned with a laugh, ”Mr. Zhang really understands me!”

”Cough cough, I actually don’t have anything else, I just want Mr. Zhang to contact Chen and talk about Nansheng!”

”Nansheng even dares to let the Imperial Guard Department leave the Imperial City, and the Imperial Guard Department even dares to wreak havoc in Chongshan Town. If we don’t warn Nansheng, he may become even more unbridled in the future!”

If possible, he naturally wouldn’t want to offend Nansheng, but there’s no such luxury as ’if’.

As long as he refuses to surrender Wang Zhongzhi and Lv Hua to the Imperial Guard Department, offending Nansheng becomes an inevitable outcome.

As for the consequences of offending Nansheng!

That’s hard to say; Nansheng might not reach him, but Emperor Yanping can.

If Nansheng whispers slander to Emperor Yanping and makes the Emperor dissatisfied with him, his life will definitely become very difficult.

Zhang Mingzhong thought about it, ”If Chen is unwilling, even if I go to the Imperial Mausoleum I won’t be able to see him!”

”I believe Mr. Zhang will certainly find a way!” Yang Zhenshan said.

Zhang Mingzhong used to be Emperor Chengping’s court eunuch, and while his position wasn’t high, his status in the Imperial City was not low.

Yang Zhenshan definitely didn’t believe Zhang Mingzhong had no influence within the Imperial City.

As for the Imperial Mausoleum, that would test Zhang Mingzhong’s ability.

”I can try!”

Zhang Mingzhong hesitated for a moment but eventually could not resist Yang Zhenshan’s persuasion.

Rarely did Yang Zhenshan ask a favor of him; he couldn’t just reject it outright without giving any face.

”Ha ha, I knew Mr. Zhang was a good man! Come, let’s drink!”

”This is the finest Hundred Herbs Brew!”

”Wu Hai, later prepare ten jars of Hundred Herbs Brew to send over to Mr. Zhang’s place!”

Yang Zhenshan ordered Wu Hai behind him.

Hearing this, the hesitation and indecision on Zhang Mingzhong’s face instantly disappeared, and he smiled, lifting his glass to gulp down the drink.

The finest Hundred Herbs Brew ah!

Tsk tsk~~

Truly a fine wine!

Although Yang Zhenshan would send him some Hundred Herbs Brew occasionally, those were just ordinary quality.

The finest Hundred Herbs Brew, Yang Zhenshan was quite stingy with, generally not sent to others.

Because the finest Hundred Herbs Brew contained Treasure Medicine, at the very least it was enriched with ginseng that had grown into Treasure Medicine.

There were many ginsengs in Spiritual Spring Space, but those that had grown into Treasure Medicine were still relatively rare. Furthermore, with Yang Zhenshan planning to save some for further growth, he was especially sparing in its use.

...

Several days later.

In the Imperial City, Jiang Cheng stood outside Taiji Palace, anxiously awaiting.

He had rushed back from Chongshan Town, and even though Yang Zhenshan had beaten him half to death, he still managed to travel with his injuries, hurrying back to the Capital City.
