Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 504: Chapter 460 Grandpa, I Think Whips are More Formidable Than Guns!

”Grandpa, I understand!” Yang Chengmao said with a grin.

”Mm, once you’re married, you should also go to the Personal Guard Camp to train. A few months there, and you’ll toughen up!” Yang Zhenshan said.

”Grandpa, has my marriage been arranged?” Yang Chengmao asked with sparkling eyes.

Seeing his expression, Yang Zhenshan couldn’t help but tease him: ”What? Eager to get married?”

”Eh, kind of! I want to go to the Personal Guard Camp sooner!” Yang Chengmao scratched his head as he spoke.

”...”

Yang Zhenshan was dumbfounded by his response.

Eager to get married just to join the Personal Guard Camp sooner?

Not thinking about cozying up with a wife, but eager to train with a bunch of burly men!

Grandson, your dad is still waiting for you to carry on the family line! Let’s focus on your wife first.

”Cough cough, your marriage hasn’t been arranged yet, but it should be settled soon! Your grandmother has already asked your little aunt to inquire about it!”

Although Yang Zhenshan has been too busy to care for family matters recently, with Yu Qingyi around, he didn’t need to worry too much.

As for the legitimate eldest granddaughter of the Marquis Haichang’s Mansion, Yang Mingzhi had only one criterion: she must be virtuous.

A future daughter-in-law!

Naturally, the more virtuous, the better.

Yang Mingzhi had lofty standards; he never thought of using his son’s marriage to forge connections with the powerful. He didn’t demand that Yang Chengmao marry a lady from some marquis’ family like Yang Chengye did, he just wanted to find a virtuous girl for Chengmao.

So, he had Yu Qingyi ask Yang Yunxue to find out what the character of the legitimate eldest granddaughter of the Marquis Haichang’s Mansion was like.

The Marquis Haichang’s Mansion was different from the Marquis Dongping’s. The latter had always been in the thousand households of Dongping, so to find out about their family, one had to send someone to the thousand households.

However, the Marquis Haichang’s Mansion had always been in the Capital City, so finding out about their family only required inquiries among the official families in the Capital City.

As the saying goes, good news stays inside, bad news travels far.

If the Marquis Haichang’s Mansion had a bad reputation, it would definitely be known among the circles of the powerful.

”Oh!” Chengmao felt somewhat disappointed when he heard they were still inquiring.

Yang Zhenshan ignored his little frustrations and turned to look at Qing Wan.

”You girl, have you been secretly practicing with the whip again?”

”Ah, Grandpa, you noticed?” Qing Wan’s eyes twinkled as she looked at Yang Zhenshan.

Yang Zhenshan said in annoyance: ”You’re almost making the spear spin flowers, how could Grandpa not notice?”

It’s unknown what got into this girl; not one person in the Yang family uses a whip among the martial artists, yet she insists on practicing it.

Not that there’s anything wrong with whips, each weapon has its strengths.

But the problem is that the Yang family passes down spear techniques, yet here she is, switching to a whip.

And the key point is, this girl used to practice with the spear, and now she’s switched to the whip, which seems a bit out of place.

”Hehe, Grandpa, I think the whip is more powerful than the spear!”

”...”

Girl, if anyone else said that, your grandpa would beat the urine out of him.

To say in front of a master of spear technique that the whip is better than the spear is practically an insult!

Yang Zhenshan looked at the adorable girl with a bit of a headache.

When she was younger, she was never the quiet type. Just when it seemed she had quieted down having grown up, now she’s starting to rebel!

Not practicing the spear, but switching to the whip, truly headache-inducing.

”Fine, if you want to practice the whip, practice the whip. Just don’t practice the spear anymore, you won’t achieve much with this approach,” Yang Zhenshan said somewhat helplessly.

Actually, whips and spears share some similarities; both can be used to strike people.

As for whether this would affect Qing Wan’s training progress, it definitely would, but not too severely.

For a Body Refining Realm Martial Artist, what weapon you use isn’t critical.

With Qing Wan’s physique, becoming a Martial Artist next year would be a piece of cake.

However, weapons do influence combat effectiveness. Practicing like this, she definitely won’t get very good, and might be full of flaws in future battles, so if she’s going to switch, better do it quickly and not drag it on.

”Thank you, Grandpa. I knew you were the best!” Qing Wan said with a beaming smile.

Yang Zhenshan didn’t want to deal with this girl anymore, ”Alright, you all go practice on your own!”

This girl actually said the whip is better than the spear!

Humph~~

Old man is very angry!

”Grandpa, then I’ll be leaving first!”

Yang Chengmao turned to leave, but Qing Wan hesitated, glancing back and forth between Yang Chengmao and Yang Zhenshan.

Yang Chengmao didn’t wait for Qing Wan, as he was headed to the front courtyard.

Yang Zhenshan looked at the hesitant little girl, ”What’s wrong? Is there something else?”

”Grandpa, there’s something I want to ask of you!” Qing Wan approached Yang Zhenshan, massaging his shoulders while sweet-talking.

”What is it?” Yang Zhenshan was somewhat perplexed by the girl’s thoughts.

”Can I make my own decisions regarding my marriage?” Qing Wan said.

Yang Zhenshan was startled, turning to look at her.

The defiant gleam shone bright in the girl’s lively eyes.

He smiled, ”Yes, but you must marry before you turn twenty!”

After twenty, she’d be considered an old maid, and it would be difficult to find someone!

It’s rare for Qing Wan to want independence, and Yang Zhenshan naturally had no reason to refuse.

As for why he specified before twenty, that’s unavoidable; adapting to local customs, he also had to respect the customs here.

Not following customs would mean dealing with rumors and the hurt they could cause.

Yang Zhenshan hoped the girl could find her perfect match, but also wanted to spare her from unnecessary hurt.

Just like Zhou Lan, only she knows the depth of her sorrow.

”Really!” Qing Wan didn’t expect Yang Zhenshan to agree so readily, and for a moment, she could hardly believe it.
