Chaotic Sword God

When he heard Xing Caijian mention the Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt, Jian Chen could not help but think of the mysterious expert who had almost left him powerless, requiring him to use the white jade lamp in the very end to earn a chance at escaping.

“Has he really died? Even across the entire Immortals’ World, there aren’t a lot of Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts. Each one counts. Losing one is a loss to the entire Immortals’ World.” Jian Chen sighed. He thought of the three sovereign god artifacts in his possession. The three sovereign god artifacts were all on the same level as the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star.

Yet when he faced the Seventh Heavenly Layer expert, there was virtually nothing he could use apart from holding on using the Source of Life’s recovery powers. He was not even able to touch a hair on the enemy.

Yet in the end, the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star had actually slain an expert like that effortlessly.

That left Jian Chen speechless.

They were all sovereign god artifacts, but the difference was far too great.

“Looks like I need to try everything I can to get the twin swords to recover as quickly as I can,” Jian Chen thought. Each of the three sovereign god artifacts he possessed bore a unique function. The Primeval Divine Hall’s advantage was spatial. Of course, its greatest source of assistance to Jian Chen right now was the slumbering generals inside.

The Source of Life’s purpose was for healing. It was an auxiliary sovereign god artifact, granting Jian Chen an undying body.

Only the twin swords were focused on offence, which allowed them to openly rival the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star.

The twin swords had eaten a Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing of extremely high quality, and their strength had already recovered substantially. However, it was still nowhere near enough in Jian Chen’s opinion.

Xing Caijian’s expression became slightly mixed as well. “You’re right. Each expert that has reached the Seventh Heavenly Layer is precious to the entire Immortals’ World. If a war between worlds erupts in the future, experts like that possess pivotal influence. Unless there are blood feuds, even if they fight amongst themselves, there won’t be any fatalities.”

Reaching there, Xing Caijian glanced at Jian Chen and said, “However, your identity is special. Since this expert knows about your secrets, he must die. If it’s the other sovereign god artifact, then so be it, but they… can’t be exposed just yet.”

Jian Chen understood what Xing Caijian was referring to by “they”. She was referring to the twin swords.

The twin swords were not regular sovereign god artifacts.

Regular sovereign god artifacts were powerful, but they struggled to pose any lethal threat to Grand Exalts.

The twin swords were different. The power from fusing the swords was far too great. That was truly something terrifying that could threaten Grand Exalts.

He had been trapped by that Seventh Heavenly Layer expert for who knew how long earlier. Who knew how many times his body had been destroyed. In reality, even Jian Chen was not sure if the Seventh Heavenly Layer expert had noticed the existence of the twin swords or not.

“Oh right, I feel like something was off about that Seventh Heavenly Layer expert,” Jian Chen suddenly said.

“What was off?” Xing Caijian was curious.

“After recalling closely, I noticed that the Seventh Heavenly Layer expert only ever used the laws against me. He never used his cultivation.”

“I have an impression of this person previously as well, as he also came after me in the past. Back then, he was only a Second Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt. Both his cultivation and comprehension was very ordinary. Most importantly, he had even answered the Heavenloss Master’s call and spent many years searching through the Skyscraping World for me.”

“If he really were a Seventh Heavenly Layer expert, why would he handle these matters personally? After all, the Heavenloss Master is only close with the fifth princess of the Heavenly Palace of Great Radiance. The fifth princess isn’t the elder princess.”

“As a result, I suspect that the Seventh Heavenly Layer expert might not be the same person originally.” Jian Chen stated his guess. He had developed doubts about this a very long time ago. What in the Skyscraping World could draw over a Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt? Logically speaking, it was not very likely for experts like that to appear in the Skyscraping World.

Now, he seemed to understand something.

“Not the same person originally? What do you mean by that?” Xing Caijian was taken aback.

“Princess Caijian, do you think it’s possible that the Seventh Heavenly Layer expert used some kind of special method to get in here?” Jian Chen looked at Xing Caijian brightly.

“Impossible. That’s definitely impossible. The Skyscraping World is already shut. No one can come in unless they’re a heavenly emperor. Even if they’re a heavenly emperor, forcing their way in from outside won’t be easy. At the very least, when they face the formations of the Skyscraping World, it will be a devastating event. The entire Skyscraping World will shake. It’s impossible for it to go without being noticed.” Xing Caijian only shook her head after hearing that. She denied Jian Chen’s guess without any hesitation.

“What if it’s only the soul? After all, I’ve only seen the Seventh Heavenly Layer expert use his laws ever since he exposed himself. He never used his cultivation,” said Jian Chen. Combing through the details carefully, he discovered a very drastic change in the Soul Guarding Ancestor’s actions.

His actions previously did not seem befitting of a Seventh Heavenly Layer expert.

“Even if it’s the soul, it won’t be possible, even if they use some kind of secret technique. You better not underestimate the formations that protect the Skyscraping World. These formations were personally arranged by multiple peak experts. They cover many domains,” said Xing Caijian. She was extremely confident in the formations of the Skyscraping World.

However, not only did the existence of the Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt surprise Jian Chen, but even Xing Caijian found it quite strange. “Once we get out, I better ask my father. He is one of the people who arranged the formations. If there are any weak points, he’ll be the most knowledgeable one about it.”

Afterwards, Jian Chen began refining the seed of ways. Xing Caijian did not leave Jian Chen’s side, instead holding the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star in her arms and sitting down thirty metres away, personally guarding Jian Chen.

With Xing Caijian’s guarantee and the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star’s deterrence, Jian Chen truly stopped worrying. He focused all of his efforts on refining the seed of ways.

At this moment, the presence of the seed of ways grew weaker and weaker. This power would weaken with the passage of time in the first place. As Jian Chen refined it at full strength, it would without a doubt wear down the seed of ways’ resistance even further.

Meanwhile, Xing Caijian’s gaze remained fixed on the seed of ways the entire time. A smear of intrigue gradually appeared in her eyes. She murmured gently, “The seed of ways this time seems different from before. It actually has an additional hint of intelligence. It knows to protect itself. I wonder if this has anything to do with the departure of senior Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s final lingering will.”

When she thought of the Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s final wisp of lingering will that dispersed, Xing Caijian could not help but let sorrow appear in her eyes.

That meant that the Skyscraping Sword Venerable had truly left this world for good now.
