Chaotic Sword God

The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy was reduced to ashes, but this region enveloped by darkness did not return to normal. However, as the sword Qi from the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star swept by, much of the pitch-black darkness was purged.

The Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star did not leave. Instead, it turned around. It shone with dazzling starlight as if it possessed the tremendous power of countless stars. It shot through the darkness once again.

This time, the might that the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star erupted with seemed to be even greater than when it killed the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy. Wherever it passed by, space collapsed in chunks. Even the laws seemed to be severed.

In a split second, the space that had darkened under the influence of the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s secret technique shattered from the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star’s slash. All objects and energies that it contained were obliterated before the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star.

The Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star did not idle around for any longer afterwards. It shot off immediately, returning to Xing Caijian’s hand.

By then, the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star had already shed all of its light and pressure. It seemed like a regular sword.

Xing Caijian used the coarse cloth to bundle up the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star again before holding it in her arms like before. She said without much concern, “The Seventh Heavenly Layer expert has already been killed. Seniors, you don’t have to follow me around anymore.”

Behind her, the group of Immortal Exalts all gazed at the sovereign god artifact in her arms. All of them shivered inside.

“Princess Caijian, has that Seventh Heavenly Layer expert r-r-really died?” A Third Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt gulped and mustered the courage to ask.

Even at this moment, some of them were still doubtful, refusing to believe that a Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt had actually appeared in the Skyscraping World.

That was because to a group of early Immortal Exalts, the Seventh Heavenly Layer was far too distant. Regardless of where they were, figures like that were experts that controlled the fate of an entire organisation.

A supreme figure like that had just perished without them even catching a glance of him?

It felt so surreal to all of them.

Xing Caijian did not pay any attention to them. Holding the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star in her arms, she left without looking back while clutching the seed of ways in her hand. She vanished from view.

No one followed her. Even when Xing Caijian had taken the seed of ways with her, no one dared to say a word. The unparalleled might that the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star had demonstrated deeply deterred every single one of them.

As a matter of fact, they could not help but recall the various gestures of care that Xing Caijian had shown towards Yang Yutian when they entered the Skyscraping World.

In the beginning, many of them were in contempt of her actions. They did not believe that Xing Caijian had the power to complete what she had promised. Now that everyone had learned about the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star, who could get past her if she wielded the sovereign god artifact and protected Yang Yutian?

......

…

At this moment, an Immortal Monarch sat beneath a stone tablet with a marking of the Way of the Sword near the foot of the mountain. He seemed to be comprehending the mysteries there.

At this moment, he opened his eyes slowly, revealing a pair of deep eyes seemingly as vast as the sky. Anyone meeting those eyes would feel as if their souls were being sucked inside.

“The power of the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star is terrifying as expected. It truly is a complete sovereign god artifact after all. Probably even if I were in my peak condition, the only thing I’d be able to do is flee given its invincible might that can destroy everything…”

“But fortunately, my Divine Sect of Ancient Souls also possesses an impressive legacy. If it had been anyone else, they would have perished already if they were in that predicament just now…” the Immortal Monarch said softly.

Shortly afterwards, he raised his head and glanced at the surroundings. There was a smear of weariness in the depths of his eyes.

“The daughter of the Chaotic Star Heavenly Emperor can use the formations here to search the Skyscraping World. Out of all the people who entered the Skyscraping World, there should be no one who can hide themselves perfectly from formations of this level. However, I’ve already changed my identity. As long as I don’t expose myself with this identity, she’ll just treat me as an Immortal Monarch even if she controls the formations to search the Skyscraping World again…”

The Immortal Monarch stood up. He did not use the laws, travelling purely by using his cultivation. He left there at a steady pace.

That was the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy from the Divine Sect of Ancient Souls.

The Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star had destroyed his body, but at that critical moment, he had used an ultimate secret technique to escape with his soul. He possessed an Immortal Monarch, leaving his original body as a decoy to hide away.

“A recovery sovereign god artifact is far too useful. It’s enough for me to make a small sacrifice to obtain it. I don’t stand a chance against the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star, but it’s an offensive artifact at the end of the day. Battle is its forte. I just have to avoid it now…”

At that same time, on the side of the mountain, Jian Chen wore the Divine Armour of Heavenflight and the mask from the Illusionary Daemon race, constantly remaining hidden. He sat against a tree on the ground. His heart weighed heavily.

Although he had managed to escape from that unknown expert, he had also lost the trump card of the white jade lamp. He had even lost the seed of ways.

Going after the seed of ways this time had truly cost him more than he had benefitted.

At the same time, the Source of Life grumbled to him. During this period of time, he had endured the combined attacks of several dozen Immortal Exalts before experiencing devastating attacks from a Seventh Heavenly Layer expert over a long period of time. These events had led to a significant depletion of the Source of Life’s power.

He could find ways to replenish the Source of Life’s exhausted power. With the seed of ways that he lost, he was confident about stealing it back as well.

Most importantly, a Seventh Heavenly Layer expert was watching him from the shadows, which prevented Jian Chen from exposing himself at all.

This was the Skyscraping World. Space was severely limited. If the Seventh Heavenly Layer expert caught him again, he felt no confidence about escaping again.

“I better wait it out and take it slowly once the Divine Formation of the Heavens is available again.” Jian Chen could only make that decision helplessly.

But right when he thought up to there, his eyes suddenly narrowed. He stared straight at the end of the mountain path.

At this moment, powerful sword intent appeared in the distance. Jian Chen was all too familiar with the sword intent. It was the power released by the seed of ways.

A few seconds later, a familiar figure appeared in the thick mist.

It was Xing Caijian.

Xing Caijian carried the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star in her arms, clutching the seed of ways in her left hand. She stopped in Jian Chen’s vicinity and looked around. “Come out. I know you’re around here.”

Jian Chen stowed the Divine Armour of Heavenflight away and revealed himself. By now, his injuries had already recovered, and he had changed into a new set of blue robes. It was impossible to think that he had been heavily injured just recently.

“Looks like the Divine Armour of Heavenflight’s concealment ability is as good as nothing in your eyes.” Jian Chen sighed gently.

“As long as you haven’t died. So much for me worrying.” Seeing Jian Chen appear there unscathed, Xing Caijian let out a visible sigh of relief. She did not care about Jian Chen personally, but she cared very much about who Jian Chen was.

“Here is the seed of ways. Refine it here. I’ll watch over you personally.” Xing Caijian tossed the seed of ways over to Jian Chen without any reluctance at all.

Seeing the seed of ways appear before him once again, Jian Chen was taken aback. He had regained this item, but he was unable to cheer up no matter what. Instead, mixed feelings welled up inside him.

The feeling from earning his own opportunities compared to opportunities given to him by others was completely different.

In order to earn this item, he had paid a hefty price as well. He had even exposed a sovereign god artifact.

Yet in the end, Xing Caijian was just going to give the seed of ways to him like this, without any conditions at all?

“The Seventh Heavenly Layer expert who came after you earlier has already been killed by senior Heavenly Star, so you can set aside all of your worries. Hurry up and refine the seed of ways.” Xing Caijian urged him.
