Divine Level Witch Doctor

The speaker was none other than Kawashima Haruhiro’s masked girlfriend.

If anyone else had said this, Kawashima Haruhiro would have never believed them. He might have even given them a harsh scolding. But since the words came from the masked woman, they carried a completely different weight!

This was because Kawashima Haruhiro knew who she was.

”A real Curse? Does that mean I misunderstood Mr. Kobayashi?” Kawashima Haruhiro frowned and asked, ”Who cursed him? Was it Zhao Yuan?”

”Zhao Yuan? The Chinese man who defeated Mr. Kobayashi?” the masked woman asked. Her voice was soft and captivating, making anyone who heard it burn with curiosity to see the legendary, devastating beauty that must lie behind her mask.

Kawashima Haruhiro was also mesmerized by her voice. Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to calm down before replying, ”Yes, that’s him!”

The masked woman shook her head. ”I’ve seen the video. That Zhao Yuan is in his early twenties at most. The Curse on Mr. Kobayashi probably wasn’t his doing. When Mr. Kobayashi had his fit, I sensed the power of a formidable Talisman! A technique like that requires decades of mastery of the Dao to perform. Therefore, I can conclude that the person who placed the Curse on Mr. Kobayashi is at least fifty years old!”

Kawashima Haruhiro believed her without question. He whipped his head around and demanded of Kobayashi Haruo, ”Who on earth did you offend while you were in China?”

”I…” Kobayashi Haruo was at a loss for words. He had offended far too many people in China… He had won using despicable tricks and then boasted about it. As long as his methods weren’t exposed, it was fine. But once the truth came out, was there anyone he had competed against in medicine who didn’t hate his guts?

Kawashima Haruhiro realized this as well. He shot Kobayashi Haruo a venomous glare before turning to ask the masked woman, ”Is there a way to break the Curse on him?”

The masked woman considered this for a moment before answering, ”I can dispel it, but I’ll need time. It will require a ritual at the Shrine lasting at least three days.”

Kawashima Haruhiro’s brow furrowed. ”Three days? We don’t have that much time. We have to leave right away.”

The masked woman explained, ”The Curse on Mr. Kobayashi is like a lock that only opens when a specific condition is met. From the looks of it, the trigger is traveling to China. So as long as he doesn’t go to China, the Curse won’t activate! If you insist he come with us, he’ll very likely drop dead on the plane!”

Upon hearing this, Kobayashi Haruo began to tremble uncontrollably.

He didn’t want to die. He wanted to live.

With a heavy thud, he dropped to his knees before Kawashima Haruhiro and pleaded through his tears, ”Senior Brother, I don’t want to die! I’m begging you, please let me off the hook!”

Kawashima Haruhiro’s face darkened.

’Damn it, what the hell is that supposed to mean? Anyone who hears that without knowing the context will think I’m trying to kill you!’

He took a deep breath and snapped, ”Get up! What do you think you’re doing, kneeling in front of all these people? Even if you’re not ashamed, I am! Fine, fine. You don’t have to come with us to Huashang. Just stay in Japan!”

”Thank you, Senior Brother! Thank you, Senior Brother!” Kobayashi Haruo quickly scrambled to his feet.

Kawashima Haruhiro waved his hand in disgust. ”Look at you. You’re an absolute disgrace to our school! Now get out of my sight, go home, and reflect on your actions. If you behave yourself, I’ll have Lingzi dispel the Curse for you when I return from Huashang.”

Kobayashi Haruo hastily agreed, ”Yes, yes! I’ll go home and reflect right away! I won’t set foot outside my door until you return from Huashang, Senior Brother!” At the same time, he couldn’t help but sneak a glance at the masked woman, wondering, ’This Lingzi… could she be a Witch? But aren’t Witches supposed to be pure? How can she be dating someone?’

He could only bury these questions deep in his heart, not daring to voice them aloud.

Kobayashi Haruo didn’t dare enter the terminal. He could only stand outside, watching as Kawashima Haruhiro and the others went in. Only after they were out of sight did he turn to leave. Although he was disappointed that he couldn’t go to Huashang to witness Zhao Yuan’s defeat firsthand, saving his own skin was more important.

As for whether Kawashima Haruhiro could defeat Zhao Yuan, Kobayashi Haruo had no doubts whatsoever.

It was no contest. Kawashima Haruhiro was the most medically skilled of all the disciples! If he, Kobayashi Haruo, had once been a rising star in the medical circles of Japan, then Kawashima Haruhiro was the brilliant moon hanging high in the sky!

In Kobayashi Haruo’s eyes, with his Senior Brother personally taking the field, defeating Zhao Yuan would be a piece of cake!

Once Zhao Yuan was defeated, the shame staining his name would be mostly washed away. Then, he could ask his master and a few of his senior brothers to help pull some strings for him. After that, he could become a rising star in the medical community of Japan once more!

Fantasizing about this wonderful future, Kobayashi Haruo couldn’t help but hum a little tune.

That same afternoon, after a drive that lasted several hours, Zhao Yuan finally arrived at Rongcheng Airport.

Grabbing his bag as he got out of the car, Zhao Yuan waved goodbye to Cai De. ”Uncle Cai, thanks for the ride.”

Cai De smiled. ”It was no trouble at all. I had to come back to Rongcheng City anyway. Oh, right, when are you heading back to Jinhua Village? Give me a call then. If I’m in the city, I’ll give you a ride.”

Zhao Yuan nodded and said politely, ”Okay. Thanks in advance, Uncle Cai.”

The faculty from West Hua Medical University had already left for Huashang the day before, so Zhao Yuan was traveling alone. Thankfully, his plane ticket had been booked in advance. After getting his boarding pass, he waited for over an hour before finally getting on the plane to Huashang.

It was already evening when he arrived in Huashang. He caught a taxi at the airport and headed straight for the hotel where the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum was being held.

As soon as he entered the hotel lobby, Zhao Yuan saw a welcome sign for the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum and a long table. Several staff members were seated behind it, flanked by beautiful hostesses. This was clearly the place to register.

Zhao Yuan walked over, bag in hand, and asked a staff member, ”Hello, is this the registration for the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum?”

The staff member glanced up at him and pointed to another table not far away. ”You people register over there.”

Zhao Yuan turned to look. That registration desk was much shabbier in comparison. There were no hostesses, just two staff members tasked with checking people in.

He didn’t think much of it, said his thanks, and walked over.

Several young people were signing in at this desk. Having overheard Zhao Yuan’s earlier question, they couldn’t help but point at him and start whispering.
