Divine Level Witch Doctor

Hu Bin hadn’t expected Shi Yong to fall so pathetically, let alone that he would ”eat chicken shit” in such a manner. After a moment of shock, he shook his head and sighed, ”He brought it on himself. No one else to blame.”

He then turned and went back inside, walked up to Zhao Yuan, and said sincerely, ”I apologize to you on behalf of Shi Yong.”

Zhao Yuan waved his hand and said magnanimously, ”There’s no need to apologize. Dr. Shi was just concerned for the patients of Xiaqiao Village, which is why he kept raising questions.”

Hu Bin gave a bitter smile and grumbled to himself, ’I doubt that Shi Yong was thinking about the patients at all. He was purely acting out because he felt you made him lose face, so he opposed you at every turn. He never imagined he’d get slapped in the face time and again, and even end up ’fulfilling’ his promise in such a special way by eating chicken shit...’

Hu Bin originally had a somewhat favorable impression of Shi Yong because he had been sucking up to him diligently for the past few days. However, what just happened revealed Shi Yong’s true colors: he was a narrow-minded and vengeful person!

Hu Bin couldn’t comment on his personality, but to let it interfere with the important business of saving lives was absolutely intolerable!

Hu Bin had already made a decision. He would call Shi Yong’s superiors later and have them take him back. The medical team would not, and could not, keep someone who let personal feelings interfere with public duties!

If Shi Yong knew this, he would surely be filled with regret. Joining the medical team, while difficult, was also a way to gild one’s resume. This experience would be a great help for future job transfers, promotions, or title evaluations. But being ’persuaded to withdraw’ midway through was not an honor, but a disgrace...

While annoyed with Shi Yong, Hu Bin found himself liking Zhao Yuan more and more. He commented internally, ’This kid can make the correct diagnosis without fearing authority, which shows he’s not only capable but also very confident. Furthermore, he’s neither arrogant nor servile, always maintaining a humble attitude, which speaks to his noble character. Compared to Shi Yong, it’s like comparing heaven and earth!’

After a moment of admiration, Hu Bin couldn’t help but ask, ”Young man, what’s your name? Are you a medical student?”

Zhao Yuan’s correct diagnosis had impressed a group of experts and professors, and it made Luo Jun feel extremely proud. Hearing Hu Bin’s question, he jumped in to answer for Zhao Yuan, ”His name is Zhao Yuan! He’s a student at West Hua Medical University, just started his freshman year!”

”What? A freshman?” Hu Bin was stunned. The other experts and professors around him also had looks of disbelief.

They, a bunch of old-timers, had been in Xiaqiao Village for days, holding countless meetings and discussions, yet they had failed to discover that the villagers’ illness was related to Toxoplasma gondii. But then this young man arrived and pinpointed the truth in one go. That was already a big blow to their egos, and now you’re telling them he’s just a freshman?

’Holy crap, since when were freshmen this fierce? Or has the quality of education at West Hua Medical University reached such a jaw-dropping level that any random freshman they teach can come out and trounce old dogs like us who’ve been immersed in clinical medicine for years? That’s too damn OP!’

Shaking off his shock, Hu Bin confirmed with Zhao Yuan, ”Are you really a freshman?”

Zhao Yuan nodded. ”Yes, I’m a freshman in the Department of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine at West Hua Medical University.”

”It’s truly hard to believe,” Hu Bin sighed, glancing at the experts and professors beside him with a wry smile. He saw the same deep shock in their eyes, so he added with another sigh, ”Excellent. Each generation brings forth its own new talent!”

The nurse who had previously found Zhao Yuan familiar now furrowed her brow, murmuring, ”Zhao Yuan... West Hua Medical University... Department of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine...”

Her eyes suddenly lit up, and she exclaimed, ”Ah, I remember now! You’re the Zhao Yuan who defeated the Jinling Zhao Family!”

As soon as she said this, many people who had seen the related news reports and videos immediately recalled it.

”That’s right, he’s that Zhao Yuan! The one who single-handedly defeated a medical Noble Family!”

”Damn, so it’s him! No wonder some badass suddenly appeared in this backwater valley! I heard that not only did he defeat the Jinling Zhao Family, but he also crushed Kobayashi Haruo, the so-called rising star of Japan’s Traditional Chinese Medicine community. He made that arrogant Japanese devil scurry back to Japan with his tail between his legs, never daring to set foot in our country again.”

”Shi Yong was really asking for it, going up against him! It seems Shi Yong didn’t know that this kid recently had an entire issue of *Chinese Medicine* turned into his personal special edition! And what was published wasn’t his thesis, but his two final exam papers!”

Those who knew of Zhao Yuan all started chattering at once about his legendary achievements, while those who didn’t were stunned, asking nonstop:

”Is what you’re saying true?”

”Is this kid really that incredible? Isn’t he a freshman? Where did he get such profound medical skills?”

”I’ve heard of *Chinese Medicine*. It’s supposed to be the top and most authoritative journal for Traditional Chinese Medicine in the country. Why would they publish final exam papers? What’s the story behind that?”

Hearing their colleagues’ questions, the first group switched into storytelling mode, explaining Zhao Yuan’s deeds to them in detail. They also mixed in a lot of hearsay, like how Zhao Yuan’s medical skills were taught by a super Great God of the Traditional Chinese Medicine world, which left people dumbfounded and made Zhao Yuan seem even more mythical in their eyes.

Zhao Yuan ignored the crowd’s gasps and discussions, calmly moving on to business with Hu Bin. ”Teacher Hu, you should be aware that Toxoplasma is transmitted through feces, saliva, and other means. So, besides treating the patients, the entire village needs to be disinfected! Furthermore, Toxoplasma readily infects livestock. So, in addition to the people, the livestock must also receive corresponding treatment. Otherwise, this disease can’t be eradicated!”

Hu Bin nodded in agreement. ”You’re right. I’ll report this situation to the city right away and have them send over the prevention and disinfection medicines as soon as possible.”

Zhao Yuan added, ”As for the Three Corpses Insect, Traditional Chinese Medicine has also developed a set of treatment plans over thousands of years. You might want to have them send over some Chinese herbs like Astragalus Root, artemisia, licorice, and Betel Nut. They can be decocted into a soup, which can not only be taken by the sick people and livestock to help kill the Three Corpses Insect, but can also be sprayed around the village, especially on human and animal feces, to kill any lurking Three Corpses Insects.”

Having already witnessed Zhao Yuan’s capabilities, Hu Bin naturally had no doubts. He immediately took out his phone to call the city authorities.

At the same time, the doctors and nurses in the courtyard suddenly realized that the Xiaqiao Village villagers who had been gathered there had, at some unknown point, all disappeared without a trace.

”Where did everyone go?”
