I Married the President

Chapter 231: Chapter 231: Misplaced Mercy

Adrian Quincy’s cold eyes narrowed slightly. He said coolly, ”Our country lacks an authoritative body for identifying plagiarism, but that doesn’t mean plagiarists can get away with it.”

”Easy for you to say. If they use a legal loophole to prove they didn’t plagiarize, then I’ll have to apologize to them and even pay them. Can you imagine? The person whose work was stolen loses the lawsuit and has to apologize to the plagiarist. Who would bother creating original content after that? Everyone might as well just copy.”

Thinking of the worst-case scenario, Claire Sinclair felt a profound sense of despair.

’The victim of plagiarism having to apologize to the plagiarist... How many original creators would that dishearten?’

Adrian Quincy wrapped an arm around her slender waist, leading her out of the bedroom. ”I have a legal team. With their words alone, they once recovered several cultural artifacts that had ended up overseas. If you need them, I can lend you the team.”

Pleasantly surprised, Claire Sinclair looked up at the man’s handsome face. ”Is this your personal legal team?”

Adrian Quincy gently shook his head. ”They have a less-than-pleasant name: the Viper Law Group.”

’The Viper Law Group...’

’The most mysterious, powerful, and invincible team of legendary lawyers in all of Aridia?!’

The name ”Viper” was just a codename, alluding to their sharp tongues. They almost never took on domestic cases, only handling thorny international lawsuits for the country’s major corporations and institutions.

Just last year, in a case that shocked the world, the Viper Law Group had successfully sued the Cabinet of Country B on behalf of a corporation, winning 23.1 billion in compensation. In short, this team of lawyers was invincible.

Claire Sinclair had only ever been able to admire such a legendary legal team from afar on television; she never imagined that the boss behind them was actually The Great Demon King Quincy.

”Why do you have such a formidable legal team?”

”When you’re in a high position, you inevitably offend people. A legal team is a necessary weapon.”

”Oh...” ’It’s not like I understand these things anyway.’

She weighed her options. ’Does a case like mine really require the Viper Law Group?’

’Just as he said, our country has no authoritative body to identify plagiarism. To win this fight against plagiarism, my only choice is to hire lawyers who are even more formidable than theirs to protect my rights.’

’If I lose this battle, it means justice has lost. I don’t want to see that happen, and I don’t want to dishearten countless other original creators.’

’Therefore, I have to borrow his legal team.’

After mulling it over, Claire Sinclair finally reached a decision. ”Okay, I’ll post a response on Weibo now and see how they react,” she said. ”If they still refuse to back down, I’ll have the Viper Law Group step in. What do you think?”

”It’s a bit soft-hearted, but that suits your personality. Do as you wish.”

’Soft-hearted? What the hell!’

Claire Sinclair shot back, ”What would you do if you were in my shoes?”

”I wouldn’t waste time giving my opponent a chance to retaliate. I’d just crush them. It saves time and effort.”

”...”

’He really lives up to the name ”Great Demon King.” So terrifying.’

Even though he said that, Claire Sinclair didn’t plan on being so ruthless right from the start.

’If her opponents see the Viper Law Group’s name and decide to back down, she won’t have to actually deploy them. That way, she can save resources and avoid a lot of unnecessary trouble.’

’This was her own battle. If she could avoid troubling him, she really didn’t want to get him involved.’

Downstairs, Claire Sinclair sat at his desk, took out her phone, and posted on Weibo: ”I have decided to partner with @Viper Law Group to fight for the rights of original creators. May justice never perish.”
