I Married the President

Chapter 212: Chapter 212: A Smart Person Understands the Bigger Picture

”Oh,” Claire said flatly, not even bothering to continue the conversation.

’What does some big shot’s visit have to do with a nobody like me...?’

At the thought of the VIP she’d be meeting at the end of the month, Phoebe Lockwood couldn’t contain her excitement. ”Do you know who that VIP is? The most handsome prince in the history of the Western Continent, the most perfect man in the world, with over 200 million followers on Twitter. He’s the one and only Little Prince Hale! Aren’t you jealous?”

’Little Prince Hale?’

’In other words, Mrs. Hale’s younger son...’

’Oh, God. If Little Prince Hale is coming at the end of the month, does that mean Mrs. Hale will be here too?’

’What if Little Prince Hale wants to see me then???’

Claire was deeply worried.

But on second thought, her worrying seemed a little pointless.

’By then, I’ll be divorced from Adrian Quincy. Hosting Little Prince Hale will have nothing to do with me. What is there to be nervous about...?’

With that thought, Claire finally responded, ”Wow, I’m so jealous. Let me congratulate you in advance. And while I’m at it, I hope you succeed in winning over Mr. Quincy soon.”

”Hmph, at least you know what to say!” Phoebe Lockwood snorted smugly, returning to her seat as if she’d just won a major battle.

Claire pushed her thoughts aside and prepared to get to work.

However, she hadn’t been to work in days and felt a little rusty. She wasn’t sure what to do next.

Just as she was feeling lost, Henry Hartwell arrived and casually called her name.

Claire followed him into his office and waited for him to sit down before asking, ”Teacher Hartwell, did you have a task for me?”

”The CloudScript Group is holding an IP showcase and would like to invite you. Are you interested?”

The CloudScript Group is the largest online literature platform in the country. It owns several well-known web novel sites, the most famous of which is undoubtedly CloudScript Books.

However, CloudScript Books had a bad reputation. It had even trended on Weibo after several of its ”Platinum” authors were caught plagiarizing, making it a notorious ”plagiarism den.”

In fact, Claire had only ever heard of the CloudScript Group because of that trending topic.

’To be honest, I have zero interest in a tainted company like that,’ she thought. ’But I am curious... why would such a large corporation approach me?’

”Teacher Hartwell, why are they inviting me?”

”The production company that bought your rights is partnered with the CloudScript Group. They want to use this showcase as a platform to heavily promote your work. You can think of it as a free promotional opportunity. Not only will it push your book, but it will also boost your popularity. It’s all upside for you, so you should consider it.”

Claire had no interest in fame, so she refused without a second thought. ”No, thank you. I don’t want to be famous.”

”Claire, attending an event like this isn’t about chasing fame and fortune. It’s about laying the groundwork for your future. A smart person knows how to see the bigger picture. You should carefully weigh the pros and cons before making the most logical choice.”

’Why do those words sound so familiar?’

’See the bigger picture... weigh the pros and cons...’

’Adrian Quincy had said something similar to her. His exact words were: ”You don’t need to consider what choice I’ll make. Instead, you need to assess the bigger picture for yourself. Only the fearless have a chance to turn the tables.”’

’Scary. I’m being fed toxic motivational fluff again!’

’As toxic as it was, she couldn’t argue with it...’

”Teacher Hartwell, what would you do if you were in my shoes?”

”I would conquer the world first, and only then would I retire in glory. Talking about being above fame and fortune when you have nothing is, in my opinion, just a lack of ambition.”
