I Married the President

Chapter 100: Chapter 100: So Cool

If a moment ago she was just channeling a queen, now she had completely transformed into a righteous and commanding empress, her aura surging in an instant.

Phoebe Lockwood was stunned silly. Her hair was still in Claire’s hand, and for a moment, she forgot to struggle, her mind a complete mess.

Acting on some strange impulse, she crouched down and made a move to clean up the rice on the floor.

Claire Sinclair released her hair as she crouched down. Crossing her arms, she stared down at her. ”Make it spotless. Otherwise, your father, the governor, will face divine retribution too.”

Phoebe Lockwood cleaned for a moment before she suddenly snapped out of it, as if waking from a dream. Instantly, she was overcome with anger and indignation, and an immense sense of shame flooded her heart.

She shot to her feet and ran off in tears...

Claire Sinclair frowned. Thinking back to how she had just lost control, she wondered, ’Was that my sister possessing me?’

’Sigh. In the end, I’m still the one who has to clean up this mess.’

Claire Sinclair quietly crouched on the floor, scooping the rice scattered all over the ground back into the box.

All the while, countless pairs of shocked, bewildered eyes never left her.

’Claire Sinclair was so badass just now!’

’But Phoebe Lockwood is the governor’s daughter. Is it really a good idea to do that to her?’

Claire Sinclair soon realized this as well. ’This time,’ she thought, ’I’m really going to lose my job...’

...

Phoebe Lockwood stormed out the door. After asking a few people along the way, she learned that her father was still in Conference Room 2 and ran over.

The moment she saw her father, Phoebe Lockwood threw herself into his arms, bawling her eyes out. ”Sob, sob... Daddy, you have to stand up for me! Sob, sob, sob...”

Bernard Lockwood’s heart was breaking. He quickly soothed her, ”Sweetheart, what’s wrong? Who bullied you? Tell Daddy, and I’ll back you up!”

”That bitch, Claire Sinclair! She humiliated me! Waaaah...”

The moment he heard Claire Sinclair’s name, Bernard Lockwood instantly backed down. ”Phoebe, if it’s Claire Sinclair, then just let it go. She’s with Quincy Manor, and we can’t afford to offend them.”

Phoebe Lockwood cried even harder. ”I don’t care! Dad, you have to get rid of Claire Sinclair! I want her to disappear forever! Waaaah...”

”Sweetheart, stop crying. We have to be patient with this. Have you eaten yet? How about Daddy takes you to get some food first, okay?”

”Dad, I don’t want to eat! I want Claire Sinclair to disappear!”

”Alright, alright. Let’s go eat first. We can talk about it after you’ve eaten...”

And just like that, Phoebe Lockwood was led away by her father.

...

With her bento box gone, Claire Sinclair had no lunch. The venue was in an odd location with no restaurants nearby. Ordering takeout again would probably mean waiting for an hour.

Claire Sinclair was starving, and her stomach wouldn’t stop growling. She hesitated, wondering if she should order another meal or just endure it until she could eat after work.

While she was still hesitating, Nancy Lockwood suddenly appeared at the office doorway.

Dressed in a sharp, iconic black suit, she cut a cool and imposing figure, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.

”Isn’t that a bodyguard from Quincy Manor?”

”Why is a bodyguard from Quincy Manor here?”

”This is the first time I’ve seen a Quincy Manor bodyguard up close. They seem so mysterious.”

Nancy Lockwood ignored the chatter, her gaze sweeping over the crowd before finally landing on Claire Sinclair.

She saw that everyone was eating from their bento boxes except for Claire Sinclair. Nancy frowned. ’Has she been bullied by her colleagues?’

Everyone from Quincy Manor shared a common trait—they were fiercely protective of their own. They couldn’t tolerate seeing anyone from the manor being bullied, not even a cleaning lady.
