I Married the President

Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Is She That Special to Him?

The man pulled away from her lips and whispered in her ear, ”Relax. I’ll handle everything.”

Claire Sinclair nodded in a daze. She turned and walked out, her hurried steps betraying her flustered state, likely from shyness.

Nancy Lockwood followed her out and personally opened the car door for her.

After getting in the car, Claire Sinclair took a moment to steady her breathing, trying to push the bashful memory from her mind.

Nancy Lockwood started the car in silence. After driving out of the residential complex, she suddenly spoke up. ”I’m sorry about last time. I spoke out of turn. Please don’t take it to heart.”

Claire Sinclair paused for a moment before realizing what she was referring to. She smiled magnanimously. ”It’s fine. I’m used to it.”

The more she said that, the more ashamed Nancy Lockwood felt.

She had taken advantage of her friendship with Quinn Sinclair and ignored this girl’s feelings. She had no right to speak to her that way.

Afraid of the awkward silence, Claire Sinclair proactively changed the subject. ”You guys are here so early today.”

”It was planned. We’re just following orders.” Nancy paused, then suddenly asked a strange question. ”Did Young Master Quincy rest well last night?”

Claire Sinclair’s expression faltered. The thought of sleeping with him for the first time last night made her cheeks flush again. ”He’s fine.”

”That’s good to hear. Young Master Quincy hasn’t had a proper night’s sleep in half a month. He even took headache medicine before leaving work yesterday. If he listens to you, you should persuade him to balance work and rest.”

Half a month without proper sleep!!!

’What on earth is that guy trying to do?’

Claire Sinclair took out her phone and sent him a message on WeChat: Someone just told on you, said you haven’t slept properly in half a month. Is that true?

Adrian Quincy: It gets like that when I’m busy.

Claire: No matter how busy you are, you have to balance work and rest. You’re going to wreck your body like this.

Adrian Quincy: Okay.

She could tell he was just brushing her off.

Annoyed, Claire Sinclair typed: Even if you won’t think of yourself, you should think of your subordinates. They’re very worried about you.

Adrian Quincy: What about you?

Claire Sinclair’s eyes darted around for a moment before she shyly typed back: I’m a little worried too.

Adrian Quincy: I’ll listen to you. After this project is done, I’ll balance work and rest.

’That’s more like it.’

Claire Sinclair smiled in satisfaction, sent him a ”cute” sticker, and finally put her phone down.

”I messaged Mr. Quincy. He said he’ll balance work and rest from now on, but I don’t know if he’s just lying to me.”

”Young Master Quincy doesn’t make promises lightly. If he promised you, he’ll do it.”

Nancy Lockwood was smiling as she said this.

’Even Quinn couldn’t get him to do that, yet Claire Sinclair managed it with a simple WeChat message. This girl isn’t as weak and helpless as I first thought.’

’Future lady of Quincy Manor, you’ve got this.’

Claire Sinclair mulled over Nancy Lockwood’s words, finding it a bit hard to believe.

’Am I really that special to him?’

...

Nancy Lockwood drove Claire Sinclair to the same styling salon as last time—the place where she had been forced to wear a wedding dress for the first time.

Since they were in a hurry, the stylist gave her some light makeup and quickly styled her hair. With that, the primping was done.

Afterward, Nancy Lockwood dropped Claire Sinclair off outside the event venue.

After getting out of the car, Claire Sinclair furtively glanced around. Thankfully, no one was there. If someone had seen her getting out of a car from Quincy Manor, there would surely be talk.

She breathed a sigh of relief and walked into the venue with her head held high.

Just as she reached the entrance, someone came out of the venue. Seeing the Astoria Daily press pass hanging around her neck, the person thrust a stack of name cards at her and said quickly:

”Hey, you’re with Astoria Daily, right? Get these name cards set up according to the seating chart right now. Hurry up. If you’re not done by the time Governor Lockwood arrives, we’re all going to get an earful.”
