I Married the President

Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Claire, You’re Not Bad Either

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. So, he was going to do push-ups.

’Then what’s the point of me lying on the floor?’

Just as she was wondering, the man’s face lowered toward hers. Thankfully, it didn’t touch her.

Claire Sinclair’s body went rigid. She was too nervous to move. ”What are you doing?”

”I was going to go for a morning run, but it started raining. So, push-ups it is.”

His words made Claire Sinclair notice the sound of the rain outside. It sounded heavy.

”Then what am I doing on the floor?”

”Keep me company.”

’Why did he say that so matter-of-factly!’

Claire Sinclair lay there in a daze. She wanted to refuse, but a part of her was reluctant. Lying here watching him do push-ups was actually kind of fun.

’Alright, I’ll play along.’

Claire Sinclair retracted her hands and looked up, her eyes fixed on the handsome face that moved closer and then farther away with each repetition. Gradually, his breathing grew heavier, but the rhythm of his push-ups remained perfectly steady.

’This guy... he’s getting more and more handsome.’

After who knows how many push-ups, Claire Sinclair started to get bored and spoke up. ”Mr. Quincy, what’s the most push-ups you can do in one go?”

”I’ve never counted.”

”Oh...”

”So besides push-ups, what other exercises do you do?”

”Weighted runs.”

”That sounds so cool!”

After a moment’s thought, Claire Sinclair couldn’t resist asking, ”Could my sister do push-ups like you?”

”Your sister was a girl, after all, but she was the strongest among them.”

”I’m so envious...”

”Claire, you’re not bad yourself.”

”How so...?”

Silence fell between them.

Claire Sinclair was getting antsy. ”Shouldn’t I get up? I have to go to the venue later...”

The man was perfectly calm. ”It’s not even seven. It’s still early.”

Claire Sinclair arched an eyebrow. ”What time is your alarm set for?”

”Six-thirty.”

”...”

’Psycho!’

’He set an alarm for six-thirty just to do a morning workout, and he dragged me into it?!’

’My beauty sleep! Aaaah!’

Claire Sinclair wanted to go back to sleep, so she said, ”The floor is cold. I want to go back to bed.”

Adrian Quincy didn’t stop her, but he also showed no intention of letting her get up, continuing with his push-ups as if she hadn’t spoken.

Claire Sinclair said irritably, ”I said I want to get up.”

”Mm,” the man grunted in response, and that was it.

Claire Sinclair rolled her eyes at him. ”If you don’t get up, how am I supposed to?”

Adrian Quincy glanced down at her and gave a wicked smile, showing no intention of stopping.

’This guy... What’s his deal?’

Seeing that he was continuing his push-ups endlessly, Claire Sinclair finally lost her patience. She tried to push him away to get up, but it seemed he hadn’t hit his target count and wasn’t about to stop. There was no way for her to get up.

At her wits’ end, Claire Sinclair had no choice but to protest. ”Stop for a second. I really need to get up.”

Adrian Quincy paused, forced to stop.

A drop of cool sweat fell from his forehead, landing on her cheek.

Claire Sinclair’s heart gave a violent lurch. She snapped her head up to look at his handsome face, only to realize it was now covered in sweat.

His already devastatingly handsome face now looked even more striking and alluring.

’I can’t take this. This guy is pure poison, inside and out!’

’It’s bad enough he’s shoving his handsomeness in my face, but does he have to bewitch me like this, too? It’s a total assault on my poor girlish heart!’

...

The sound of the rain outside grew louder...

At seven-thirty, an alarm clock rang again.

This time, it was Claire Sinclair’s phone. She had specifically set an alarm for seven-thirty the night before, afraid she would be late.
