I Married the President

Chapter 68: Chapter 68: You’re Not Kidding Me, Are You?

「The next day.」

Claire Sinclair was jolted awake by her alarm early in the morning and quickly got up to get ready.

When she got downstairs, she was surprised to find a man sitting in the living room!

’Am I seeing things?!’

Startled, Claire Sinclair rushed over to him. ”Mr. Quincy, what are you doing here so early? Is something wrong?”

Adrian Quincy sat on the sofa, his legs crossed casually. He held a tablet, his eyes fixed on whatever he was browsing, not sparing her a single glance.

”Go eat breakfast. I’ll take you to work afterward.”

”N-no, it’s okay. I can just take the bus.”

”Don’t waste my time. Go eat your breakfast.”

”Oh...” ’As if I *want* to waste his time,’ she grumbled to herself.

Claire Sinclair walked into the dining room and was startled yet again by the sight of ham sandwiches, eggs, and milk on the table.

’Where did this breakfast come from?’

Claire Sinclair glanced back at the man’s back, wanting to say something but holding her tongue.

’Oh, well. He’s the only other person here. Even if he didn’t make it, he must have ordered it. I might as well eat what’s in front of me. No point in thinking too much about it.’

Claire Sinclair went to the table and began to eat her breakfast without another word.

Just then, Adrian Quincy suddenly took a call. With his back to Claire, he said, ”Mr. Helmanro will be visiting us in Aridia. On behalf of the people of Aridia, I would like to extend our sincerest welcome...”

’President Helmanro...’

’Why does that name sound so familiar?’

’It couldn’t be *the* President Hermanro of Country K, could it?’

’Seriously? Is that guy really on the phone with President Helmanro this early in the morning???’

After that, Adrian Quincy switched to English. He spoke so quickly that Claire couldn’t understand a word, so she stopped trying to eavesdrop.

After finishing breakfast, Claire cleared her dishes, straightened her clothes, grabbed her bag, and went to stand before him.

Adrian Quincy had just hung up. He looked up, taking in her obedient posture, then abruptly stood and strode to the door. ”Let’s go.”

Claire paused for a second before scurrying to catch up. She couldn’t help but ask, ”Mr. Quincy, were you just on the phone with President Hermanro from Country K?”

”Mm,” the man nodded, but offered no further explanation.

Thinking she must have overstepped and angered him, Claire immediately apologized. ”I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have pried!”

Without sparing her a glance, Adrian Quincy got into the car and fastened his seatbelt.

Claire hesitated for a moment before quietly getting into the back seat. Once inside, she sat with her knees pressed primly together, the very picture of good behavior.

After they had been driving for several minutes, Adrian Quincy suddenly spoke. ”I told you to buy some new clothes. Why haven’t you?”

”I just haven’t had the time. I was planning to go this weekend.”

”President Helmanro will be visiting soon, and I’ll be personally hosting his delegation. You need to prepare. You’ll be there with me to greet him, in your capacity as a reporter.”

Claire was stunned by his words.

”You’ve got to be kidding me... Someone like me can meet a president?”

Adrian Quincy’s brow furrowed slightly. ”As the mistress of Quincy Manor, you’ll have to face these things sooner or later. You need more experience.”

Claire was speechless.

’Can I say no?’

’Wait, did he just say... mistress of Quincy Manor?!’

’Holy crap!’

Claire was absolutely horrified. ”Y-you’re the head of Quincy Manor?”

Adrian’s cold eyes narrowed. ”Your sister never told you who I am?”

”Weren’t you supposed to keep things confidential? She barely told me anything about your work, only the fun stuff. My sister is very principled!”

”When you have free time, you should study diplomatic English. You can’t rely on an interpreter forever.”
