I Married the President

Chapter 88: Chapter 88: She Was Far Too Weak Compared to Him

Claire Sinclair frantically reined in her spiraling thoughts and pulled away from the man’s kiss. ”It’s seven-thirty! I have to get up!”

Adrian Quincy frowned slightly, a faint chill settling in his eyes. He said in a deep voice, ”Get up at eight.”

His commanding tone was impossible for Claire Sinclair to resist.

’A twenty-eight-year-old man is terrifying...’

”Ah, no! I’ll be late!”

”You won’t be late.”

”No, no! Mr. Quincy, don’t—”

...

True to his word, it was exactly eight o’clock.

Claire Sinclair stood before the mirror, staring at her reflection in a formal suit. No matter how she looked at herself, she just felt like a little girl. ’Is it really appropriate for me to be the one to host Mrs. Hale?’

Just as she was lost in thought, an impeccably dressed Adrian Quincy walked in and stood behind her, his gaze drawn to the beautiful girl in the mirror.

Unable to resist, he wrapped his arms around her slender waist from behind, lowering his head to inhale her sweet scent.

Claire Sinclair’s body went rigid, and she didn’t dare to move. ”This is my only formal suit,” she protested quietly. ”Don’t wrinkle it.”

Adrian Quincy kissed her earlobe before finally letting her go, stepping back to give her some space.

He just stood there, watching her in the mirror with an admiring gaze as a look of deep affection slowly filled his eyes.

At the same time, Claire Sinclair was also looking at the man in the mirror.

He wore a formal suit, his tie perfectly knotted. He carried himself with the air of a commander, radiating an innate, powerful presence.

’Compared to him, I’m just too weak...’

”Will I seem... unimpressive if I meet Mrs. Hale like this?”

”Hosting a guest isn’t a strategic negotiation. You don’t need to be impressive, just sincere.”

”But she’s the President’s wife, and I—”

Claire Sinclair wanted to say she wasn’t up to the task, but Adrian Quincy cut her off bluntly:

”Claire, you aren’t that different from your sister. Be more confident.”

”...”

Claire Sinclair was suddenly at a loss for words.

Growing up, people had always told her she was inferior to her sister in every way. For someone to suddenly say she wasn’t that different left her feeling overwhelmed by the unexpected praise.

Unfortunately, his words weren’t enough to erase her deep-seated feelings of inferiority.

Adrian Quincy suddenly took her hand and led her out of the bathroom. ”Let’s go downstairs for breakfast.”

”Uh...” Claire Sinclair stared blankly at their joined hands, her mind drifting.

’They hadn’t even known each other for a month, yet their relationship had already progressed to the point of nearly hitting a home run. She knew perfectly well this wasn’t love, but pure carnal desire.’

’No!’

’I’m too weak right now. I’m completely incapable of being the mistress of Quincy Manor...’

’Only when I become as capable as my sister will I have the right to stand as his equal!’

The reality of her situation hit Claire Sinclair in an instant, and she snatched her hand back.

Adrian Quincy turned to look at her. ”What’s wrong?”

Claire Sinclair shook her head. ”It’s nothing. I’m just not used to holding hands with men.”

Upon hearing this, Adrian Quincy didn’t press the issue. ’Everyone has their habits, and there’s no need for me to break hers,’ he thought.

When they went downstairs, Claire Sinclair was surprised to find people in the living room. Nancy Lockwood and Aiden Howkins had both arrived.

’They’re here awfully early!’

Adrian Quincy glanced casually at the pair and said, ”Nancy, take Claire to get her makeup done first. When she’s finished, take her to the venue.”

”Yes,” Nancy Lockwood nodded, then gestured for Claire Sinclair to follow.

Claire Sinclair looked at Adrian Quincy’s perfect, handsome face, a hint of longing and reluctance surfacing in her eyes.

As if sensing her feelings, Adrian Quincy slowly lowered his head and placed a gentle kiss on her lips.

Claire Sinclair froze, her face growing warm. ’So many people are watching...’
