Ghost Catching System

Some were even more tragic, not even getting the chance to fight back before Chu Hao smashed them dead with a single blow.

A middle-aged man, seeing Chu Hao’s ferocity, trembled all over. He took out a small bottle and opened it. A plume of black smoke billowed out, carrying him away as he fled!

Chu Hao didn’t chase the one who had fled. Looking at the corpses scattered on the ground, he suddenly wondered, Have I been too brutal?

That was five lives lost. But Chu Hao quickly came to terms with it; if he hadn’t possessed such capabilities, he might have been the one lying dead on the ground. Moreover, among these people were those who had committed great evil. For the sake of practicing some Evil Technique, they had killed an unknown number of people.

The restaurant manager rushed over. Seeing the carnage and the dead bodies, he immediately began to tremble and called the police.

Chu Hao’s expression remained impassive as he watched Gui Yan. Gui Yan, in turn, observed Chu Hao, his mind racing. This kid is different from the rumors; his methods are incredibly severe!

Elsewhere, Zhang Chenfeng, who was confronting Zhao Yun, found it hard to articulate his predicament; the ghost he faced was unbelievably formidable. Zhang Chenfeng’s face was now bruised and swollen, his once-handsome features marred.

Zhao Yun said indifferently, ”You wretched creature! You can’t even defeat this general, yet you presume to challenge my Lord? You’re courting death.”

Zhang Chenfeng’s breathing grew ragged. Seeing Chu Hao’s murderous efficiency, his heart hammered in his chest, and the urge to flee overwhelmed him. He felt utterly wretched. As a Taoist Priest from Longhu Mountain, he had never felt so humiliated.

Gui Yan cracked a cruel smile. If not for his twisted nature, he would have been quite a handsome man. He said, ”I didn’t expect you to be so formidable. But don’t forget, I am one of the Seven Sons of Three Truths.”

Chu Hao retorted, ”I don’t care if you’re one of the Seven Sons of Three Truths or whatever—eat my staff!”

Gui Yan turned and leaped out of the window. They were on the fifty-third floor, yet the man dared to jump! Chu Hao rushed to the window and looked down but couldn’t see Gui Yan. Then, a buzzing sound drew his attention upwards. A monster was flying in the sky.

It could only be Gui Yan. At that moment, a pair of enormous, mosquito-like wings had sprouted from his back. His body turned a mottled black and gray; he had transformed into a humanoid mosquito, his mouth a long, sharp proboscis. So, this fiend is literally a mosquito! Chu Hao thought.

Gui Yan’s mocking laughter echoed. ”Haha, Chu Hao! Face your fear!”

System Notification: AA-grade Mission triggered! Objective: Show the Ghostly Corpse Mosquitoes what true fear means.

System Notification: Mission Reward: 3,000,000 Experience Points.

System Notification: Mission Reward: 50,000 Merit Points.

The System had finally issued a mission. It was a strange one: he had to make his opponent understand true fear. The System had previously mentioned that missions would change as he leveled up, so Chu Hao wasn’t surprised.

Before Chu Hao could dwell on it, Gui Yan flapped his wings, creating a loud buzzing. Behind him, a dense swarm of Corpse Mosquitoes appeared, resembling an approaching storm.

Chu Hao, holding a Scorching Flame Talisman in his mouth, puffed his cheeks and exhaled a searing fireball. The dense swarm of Corpse Mosquitoes rushing towards him was instantly incinerated.

Dealing with someone as perverse as Gui Yan, ordinary methods wouldn’t instill fear. Even capturing him might not be enough. How can I make him truly afraid? Chu Hao pondered. To invoke fear, I must demonstrate power several times greater than his, right?

Chu Hao said nonchalantly, ”Little mosquito, so this is your true form? It’s quite disgusting to behold.”

Gui Yan sneered. He had once been a doctor. A few years prior, he discovered an enormous Corpse Mosquito King inside a tomb. The Corpse Mosquito King bit him, transforming him from a living person into this current state—neither human, ghost, nor demon. Initially, Gui Yan was terrified. But over time, he grew to relish this power and began to study it. Eventually, through certain individuals, he made contact with the Yin and Yang Realm. Gui Yan discovered he possessed the ability to turn living humans into Corpse Mosquitoes, a realization that had once filled him with ecstasy.

Gui Yan snarled, ”Chu Hao, that was just an appetizer. Soon, you will truly understand fear!”

A buzzing sound filled the sky. Chu Hao initially thought it was another swarm of Corpse Mosquitoes, but he soon realized these were different: they were huge Ghostly Corpse Mosquitoes. These Ghostly Corpse Mosquitoes had once been human. Gui Yan had transformed them into creatures like himself and now controlled them. Their numbers were staggering, a dense swarm covering the sky. Chu Hao estimated there were at least a thousand of them.

Does that mean all thousand of these were once living people? Chu Hao realized with a jolt. He felt a chill. How depraved is this fiend? To kill so many people and then turn them into Ghostly Corpse Mosquitoes! A fierce anger surged through Chu Hao.

Gui Yan roared, ”Chu Hao, prepare to die!”

The dense swarm of Ghostly Corpse Mosquitoes descended, emitting a foul, cloying stench. Chu Hao spat another gout of fire, incinerating many, but the Ghostly Corpse Mosquitoes kept swarming towards him relentlessly.

Chu Hao cursed under his breath and turned to retreat.

”Where do you think you’re going!” Gui Yan shrieked.

The dense swarm of Ghostly Corpse Mosquitoes shattered the windows and poured into the restaurant. Spotting some waiters frozen in terror, they pounced, intent on sucking their blood.

Chu Hao swung his staff, smashing a Ghostly Corpse Mosquito to pulp. ”What are you fools staring at? Run!” he yelled at the staff.

The restaurant patrons and staff screamed in terror and fled for their lives. The entire skyscraper housing the Western restaurant was now besieged by Ghostly Corpse Mosquitoes.

NEE-NAW! NEE-NAW! Police sirens wailed as numerous squad cars arrived. Officers looked up, saw the dense swarm of monsters darting rapidly through the sky, and, pale with fright, immediately radioed the Seventh District. In truth, agents from the Seventh District were already on scene.

”Th-that’s... Gui Yan, one of the Seven Sons of Three Truths?” Ouyang Lan, also present, recognized the monstrous figure in the sky at a glance. She had recently been dispatched to Anli City. Demon Slayers from the Seventh District had previous encounters with the Three Truths Sect. They knew the Sect consisted of seven extremely deranged individuals, and Gui Yan was one of them.

Far from the skyscraper, a masked man with his arms crossed observed the scene. ”The Seven Sons of Three Truths,” he remarked coldly, ”growing so audacious in broad daylight.”

Another individual, a short elderly man, commented, ”This is typical of the Seven Sons of Three Truths. However, reinforcements from the Seventh District should be here any moment, shouldn’t they?”

Indeed, numerous hidden observers were watching. News that Chu Hao possessed the Emperor’s Yellow Seal had spread like wildfire. The five individuals he’d just killed were but a small fraction of those with their eyes on him.

Chu Hao was unaware of how many hidden eyes were upon him, nor did he particularly care. At this moment, he was utterly infuriated. How many innocent lives were sacrificed to create such a swarm of Ghostly Corpse Mosquitoes? And this kind of scum is still allowed to run rampant in the Yang Realm!

Chu Hao kicked open the door to the terrace and stormed onto the skyscraper’s rooftop. The sky above was now a seething mass of Ghostly Corpse Mosquitoes, all glaring down at him with predatory eyes.

Chu Hao’s expression was glacial.

Gui Yan, hovering amidst the swarm of Ghostly Corpse Mosquitoes, sneered, ”Chu Hao, surrender the Emperor’s Yellow Seal, or everyone in this city dies!”
