Ghost Catching System

Zuo Li stood to the side. He had initially looked forward to Gao Jingshou making Chu Hao suffer. Instead, his own backer, Gao Jingshou, was so terrified it left Zuo Li completely dumbfounded.

Chu Hao stood up, hands clasped behind his back, and said, ”Gao Jingshou, would you say we’re quite fated to meet?”

Forehead sweating, Gao Jingshou was paralyzed with fear and kept nodding, saying, ”Yes, yes.”

Chu Hao said, ”I won’t make things difficult for you.”

Gao Jingshou breathed a sigh of relief. As long as Chu Hao didn’t kill him, everything else was negotiable.

Chu Hao’s tone became extremely harsh as he said, ”However! Not killing you would make it seem like I don’t keep my word.”

Gao Jingshou was about to cry, desperately kowtowing to Chu Hao, ”My lord! I was wrong, truly wrong.”

Chu Hao said, ”Get up.”

Gao Jingshou cried, not daring to get up, and said, ”This... this lowly one does not dare. It’s my honor to be kneeling on the ground, looking up to you, my lord.”

”Ding... The Ghost Officiant’s reverence bolsters the Host’s display of pretentiousness. Awarded 900 Pretentiousness Points.”

The other ghosts were stunned, hardly believing that such words could come from a Ghost Officiant of the Underworld.

Without further ado, Chu Hao asked, ”Do you manage this area?”

Gao Jingshou nodded, ”Yes, my lord.”

Chu Hao stroked his chin and said to Zang Aihua, ”Everyone, withdraw.”

Without hesitation, Zang Aihua and the other ghosts quickly left the hall.

If they were initially curious about Chu Hao’s identity, now their curiosity had peaked even more. Their admiration for Chu Hao had reached its pinnacle, as they saw even a Ghost Officiant cower before him.

As for Zuo Li, he had already given up hope.

Once all the ghosts had left, Chu Hao then asked, ”The Female Ghost on the wanted list yesterday, and that woman, have they been captured?”

He was eager to know the current situation of the Ghost Mother.

Gao Jingshou was startled and hastily replied, knowing Chu Hao was a living person, ”No, they haven’t been captured.”

Chu Hao asked, ”Apart from that, has anyone else been captured near the edge of Fengdu?”

Gao Jingshou replied, ”We captured a living person who was injured. He’s a Taoist from the Yang Realm’s Mao Mountain and is now under control. My lord, you really have an incredible strategic mind.”

Wang Junshu had been captured.

Chu Hao nodded and said, ”I’ve come here to punish that Evil Ghost. Since that’s the case, you’re on the same side as me. Stand up.”

Gao Jingshou finally let out a sigh of relief.

Chu Hao looked at Gao Jingshou and asked, ”Would you like to make a contribution?”

Gao Jingshou was puzzled. Wasn’t Chu Hao here to seek revenge? ”This servant certainly would,” he replied.

Chu Hao nodded in satisfaction. An idea formed in his mind. The Ghost Mother is terrifying. If she returns to the Yang Realm to bide her time before coming after me, it will be very troublesome. Since I’ve encountered Gao Jingshou, why not use him to capture the Ghost Mother?

Chu Hao was pleased with his own idea and said, ”That Female Ghost’s true strength is that of a Ghost King.”

”What! A Ghost... Ghost King?” Gao Jingshou was so frightened upon hearing this he almost lost his soul.

A Ghost King! Such an incredibly powerful existence, especially one from the Yang Realm—the thought alone is utterly horrifying! In the Yang Realm, one must have killed countless people to become a Ghost King, right?

To think I’ve been chasing a Ghost King! Gao Jingshou nearly burst into tears.

Chu Hao said indifferently, ”However, you can rest assured, the Ghost Mother has already been seriously injured by me and her strength is only at the Semi-Ghost King level.”

”Ding... Host’s pretentiousness successful, awarded 900 Pretentiousness Points.”

Gao Jingshou was shocked. A Ghost King, seriously injured by Chu Hao! Mamma mia! This living person is terrifyingly formidable!

Chu Hao said, ”She is now hiding in a corner of Fengdu. I can find her, but it’s not easy to make a move. You have a chance to distinguish yourself. As long as you lead the Ghost Officiants to capture her, her crimes are heinous. You can certainly rise through the ranks step by step.”

Gao Jingshou was even more excited, respectfully saying, ”Sir, can I really... really have the opportunity to distinguish myself?”

I’ve been dying to return to my original position! Now there’s an opportunity, I have to try! Besides, with Chu Hao here—someone who can injure a Ghost King—what do I have to fear?

Chu Hao asked, ”Do you want to distinguish yourself?”

”I do.”

Chu Hao nodded and then addressed the System, ”System, is there anything that can calculate the location of the Ghost Mother?”

System replied, ”Recommending to the Host to purchase a Tracing Instrument, requiring 6,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

Six thousand Pretentiousness Points... A bit expensive, but if it means eliminating the Ghost Mother, I’m more than willing.

”Purchase.”

”Ding... Host has purchased the Tracing Instrument, consuming 6,000 Pretentiousness Points, remaining Pretentiousness Points: 9,400.”

Item: Tracing Instrument

Rarity: ★★★

Ability: Calculates and locates the tracks of Ghost Demons; requires an item related to the Ghost Demon.

Just as I thought, this Tracing Instrument isn’t omnipotent. It needs an item related to the Ghost Demon, like clothing or something similar.

Chu Hao took off one of his shoes. It still had some bloodstains from the Ghost King Fetus on it—perfectly suitable.

Chu Hao scraped off some bloodstains mixed with soil, then took out the Tracing Instrument, which was a Compass. Placing the bloodied soil on the Compass, he started chanting a spell.

”Seeking high and low, Ghost Demons of heaven and earth, you cannot hide. Come forth swiftly, as commanded!”

The needle on the Compass spun rapidly, finally stabilizing at one point. Chu Hao said with satisfaction, ”Now, go find assistance. Remember! The stronger, the better.”

Gao Jingshou now believed Chu Hao. Besides, with Chu Hao’s strength, there’s no reason for him to deceive me. So, he went to find help.

Before long, numerous patrol vehicles arrived, carrying many high-ranking Law Enforcement Ghost Messengers. They all wore grave expressions. It was unclear what Gao Jingshou had told them, but the Ghost Officiants nodded and chose to trust Chu Hao.

I’m not worried about Gao Jingshou betraying me. If worst comes to worst, I can always buy something from the System to escape. But if I see Gao Jingshou again after that, I’ll definitely kill him.

”Depart.”

The army of Law Enforcement Ghost Officiants set out, all of them excited. They had heard it was a grievously sinful Ghost King. If she weren’t injured, they wouldn’t have dared try to capture her. But now that she was injured, capturing her would mean enormous merit.

In the Underworld, merit was more important than anything. It could indeed propel one to rise rapidly through the ranks.

Chu Hao was also looking forward to it. If these Ghost Officiants can hold off the Ghost Mother, I’m confident I can seize the opportunity to ambush and kill her. The rewards for this would surely be more astonishing than those for merely evading her pursuit for seven days.

Chu Hao thought, System, if you’re not going to issue a task now, when will you?

Without task prompts, killing the Ghost Mother would only yield the reward for the kill, without any task reward. Therefore, Chu Hao took the initiative to ask the System for a task to kill the Ghost Mother.

The System, having been upgraded continuously, had become extremely intelligent.

System prompt: ”Kill the Ghost Mother and complete the task to obtain a Soul Sealing Lock.”

System prompt: ”Kill the Ghost Mother and complete the task to obtain one hundred thousand Merit Points.”

System prompt: ”Kill the Ghost Mother and complete the task to receive three Diamond Treasure Chests.”
