Ghost Catching System

As soon as Chu Hao made his move, he intimidated all the surrounding ghosts. Each one widened their eyes, daring not to act.

Chu Hao bent down and lightly patted his shoe, as if that kick had soiled it. He then said indifferently, ”You all seem tired of living, huh?”

”DING… Host has successfully acted pretentious, obtaining 900 Pretentiousness Points.”

The ghosts were startled. Could an ordinary ghost send a sturdy ghost flying with a single kick? Besides, the victim still hadn’t gotten up.

The old ghost immediately lost his nerve, hastily saying, ”A misunderstanding, a complete misunderstanding! We were just testing the waters.”

Chu Hao walked over and slapped the old ghost across the face. The blow sent the old ghost spinning like a top before he tumbled to the ground.

Chu Hao said coldly, ”Talk to me about misunderstandings? If Brother Hao weren’t capable, wouldn’t I have suffered at your hands?”

Chu Hao moved again, his speed incredibly fast. One by one, the sturdy ghosts around him were sent flying, landing on the ground wailing, unable to get up.

”Besides, you all have some nerve, don’t you? Daring to attack even if I were a Ghost Officiant.”

They were utterly terrified. The old ghost, filled with dread, stammered, ”You’re a Ghost Cultivator! My lord, spare my life! Please, spare me!”

In the Underworld, only Ghost Cultivators possessed such skill.

The other ghosts were also scared out of their wits, each one kneeling and begging for mercy.

Chu Hao returned to his chair and crossed his legs. He sipped the tea in his cup and said methodically, ”Old man, can you get a Merit Record?”

”Yes, yes, absolutely!” the old ghost replied, his fear palpable.

”How much Taisui Meat for it?”

The old ghost, his face contorted in a pained expression, said, ”My lord, how could I dare ask for your Taisui Meat? I’ll go prepare some for you right now.”

Chu Hao said indifferently, ”Don’t even think about running off, or I’ll uproot this entire place.”

The old ghost felt a pang of bitterness. This was his only den; where could he possibly run?

Chu Hao sipped his tea. Seven or eight sturdy ghosts lay on the ground, along with Brother Biao from earlier, who was playing dead.

Chu Hao looked to the side at the young ghost, still dazed, and said, ”You, come here.”

The terrified young ghost knelt, crying, ”My lord, spare my life! Please, spare my life!”

Chu Hao stroked his chin. It seems Ghost Cultivators are indeed quite intimidating to ordinary ghosts!

”Come here. I want to ask you something.”

Only then did the young ghost get up, trembling.

Chu Hao asked, ”What’s your name?”

The young ghost hurriedly replied, ”My lord, you can just call me Little Spirit.”

Chu Hao nodded and asked, ”In Fengdu, are there many Shamate like you? What’s their scale?”

These ghosts looked like the Shamate from the Yang Realm. Evidently, peace is a rare commodity everywhere; the Underworld is no exception, Chu Hao mused.

Little Spirit said, ”There are quite a few. Here in Area 17, there are seven well-known bosses.”

”And you guys?” Chu Hao asked.

Little Spirit replied, puzzled, ”We’re just a small gang; how could we compare to those big bosses? Small gangs like ours can only develop slowly in secret.”

So, not much different from the Shamate factions in the Yang Realm, Chu Hao thought.

Chu Hao asked, ”You all seem very afraid of Ghost Cultivators.”

Little Spirit said fearfully, ”We... we’re just ordinary little ghosts. Ghost Cultivators are the powerhouses of the Underworld. They can command the wind and rain; they’re the true big shots of the Netherworld.”

Ghost Cultivators really are something special in the Underworld, Chu Hao mused before an idea struck him.

An idea suddenly struck Chu Hao: he had the Ritian Group in the Yang Realm. If he could establish the Ritian Group in the Yin Realm too, wouldn’t that be insanely awesome?

If he could actually pull that off, he wouldn’t just be a big shot in the Yang Realm but in the Yin Realm too. Just the thought of it was super awesome.

Chu Hao asked, ”Those seven major gangs you mentioned, is there a Ghost King among them?”

Little Spirit responded blankly, ”There should be! I’ve never seen a Ghost King in my entire life.”

So there really are Ghost Kings, Chu Hao realized.

The old ghost reappeared, holding a tablet. It was definitely a Merit Record. This old ghost was the leader of this small gang and usually survived by forging Underworld items.

Chu Hao took the tablet.

The old ghost hurriedly said, ”Sir, this Merit Record can only store one thousand Merit Points. For accommodation, you can only use it at small hostels; larger places would lead to us being discovered. Also...”

Listening to the old ghost, Chu Hao was somewhat speechless. This knockoff has way too many problems!

Chu Hao interrupted him, ”You’re the leader here, right?”

The old ghost nodded with trepidation.

Chu Hao said, ”From now on, you’re with me. Bring all your subordinates; let me see how many you have.”

The old ghost, thinking he’d misheard, looked dumbfounded. He then said excitedly, ”Sir! Do you... Do you want to join us?”

Chu Hao corrected him, ”No, you’re joining me.”

The old ghost was thrilled. He’s a Ghost Cultivator! Ordinary Ghost Cultivators wouldn’t even glance at a small gang like ours. With him, we can surely advance to a higher-level gang!

Chu Hao said, ”What? You’re not willing?”

The old ghost quickly replied, ”Of course, I’m willing! I am willing to follow you, Sir!”

Chu Hao looked at those sturdy ghosts. Their minds are simple, but their limbs are strong—perfect for enforcers.

The sturdy ghosts all nodded, expressing their willingness to join Chu Hao.

In the end, all the ghosts joined. They had been living day by day in Fengdu like salted fish, unwilling to reincarnate. Merit Points were incredibly hard to earn these days, and if they couldn’t acquire enough, they risked being driven out of Fengdu.

What did being driven out of Fengdu mean?

One: It meant reincarnation. If they had Merit Points, it would be manageable. Without Merit Points, however, there was a high chance they would be reborn into the animal realm. After dying in the Yang Realm and returning to the Yin Realm, they would lack a human body, possessing only the animal soul they had before reincarnation.

In the Underworld, souls in human form were the most prized. Once a human form was lost, it was very difficult to regain it without Merit Points.

Two: Ghosts without Merit Points were to be driven out of Fengdu. They had two options: one was to become Wandering Wild Ghosts; the other, more cruel, was exile to the Land of the Vast Ancient. Of course, the exiled ghosts were always the extremely vicious and evil ones.

So, with Chu Hao, a Ghost Cultivator, to lead them, how could they not be excited?

Chu Hao spoke indifferently, ”From now on, you will follow me to conquer the world. Also! My name is Chu Hao, the Sect Master of the Ritian Sect.”

”Sect Master!”

The ghosts were thrilled. With a Ghost Cultivator leading them, they believed they could achieve a more glorious life.

System prompt: ”Host has triggered a mission that links seamlessly with the task of creating a superpower in the Yang Realm. Create a superpower in the Netherworld and build a beautiful future. Task refreshed: main assessment on a percentage scale. Completing each percentage point of the task will grant generous rewards.”

System prompt: ”Please take the mission seriously, Host.”

When Chu Hao heard the System issue the mission, he quickly opened the mission interface. It showed that the task was 3% complete. This 3% progress was attributed to the 3% completion of the Ritian Group’s establishment in the Yang Realm. For every percentage point he completed, he would receive generous rewards.

Finally, a significant mission! Chu Hao was thrilled.

Chu Hao asked, ”System, do I get a reward for completing each percentage point?”

System: ”Correct.”
