Ghost Catching System

Li Yin knew that being with Chu Hao meant being ready to bear an agonizing feeling at all times.

With a stern face, Chu Hao commanded, ”Listen to me, you’re going to Peking University. Don’t talk about anything else. If you don’t go, then I won’t either.”

Diao Chan lowered her head, tears of emotion glistening in her eyes, and said softly, ”Okay.”

The three of them dined together, but Li Yin barely had any appetite. From time to time, he watched the couple exchange smiles and sweet nothings, which made his heartache unbearable. He really wanted to fling his chopsticks away and leave.

However, at that moment, Chu Hao noticed someone was watching them. Diao Chan was very beautiful, attracting the gazes of many people present. However, this particular sensation of being stared at felt entirely different.

Chu Hao turned his head and saw a figure standing on a tall building opposite the Chuan Pavilion, looking down at them through the glass. With his long-distance vision, Chu Hao could instantly tell where the gaze was coming from, although the colored glass concealed the person’s face.

Chu Hao furrowed his brows. Who could this person be?

Following the incident with the Ghost King Fetus, many had died at the villa, including members of the Mao Mountain sect, Longhu Mountain, the He Family, the Yan Family, and the Shangguan Family. When the Ghost Mother arrived, Chu Hao had set a trap for everyone, making enemies of them all, although hardly anyone survived the encounter.

Chu Hao summoned Zhao Yun to appear and investigate who it was, ideally to capture them.

Zhao Yun charged towards the figure. With his frightening strength, it didn’t take much effort to apprehend them.

Chu Hao said, ”You two keep eating, I’ll step out for a moment.”

Once outside the Chuan Pavilion, Zhao Yun was already descending, holding the figure.

Chu Hao was taken aback—it wasn’t a person, but a ghost.

Narrowing his eyes, the ghost reminded Chu Hao of Sword Star Lord. He couldn’t have sent a ghost to follow me, could he? Chu Hao demanded, ”Who are you?”

The ghost was quite short, around one and a half meters tall, with a disproportionately large head. Its strength was also around 6,000, categorizing it as a top-level Dark Killing Ghost.

The poor large-headed ghost, having been caught, didn’t dare to resist. The pressure from Zhao Yun was too overwhelming.

With a chill in his voice, Chu Hao threatened, ”I’ll give you one chance. If you don’t tell the truth, this Heavenly Master will immediately reduce you to ashes.”

In terror, the large-headed ghost pleaded, ”Please no! I’m a Ghost Officiant, don’t hurt me.”

A Ghost Officiant—that must definitely be Sword Star Lord’s doing.

Chu Hao asked, ”Did Sword Star Lord send you to spy on me?”

The Ghost Officiant was startled and said, ”What Sword Star Lord? I’m not spying on you—I’m monitoring that lady.”

Chu Hao was also taken aback. The lady! That was clearly Diao Chan. This Ghost Officiant was monitoring Diao Chan, not him?

Could it be that Sword Star Lord was aiming for someone close to him?

Anger flashed in Chu Hao’s eyes as he brought out the Ghost-whipping Whip and lashed out, cursing, ”Aren’t you indeed sent by Sword Star Lord?”

The large-headed Ghost Officiant screamed in agony. The lash from the Ghost-whipping Whip was excruciating, feeling as if his soul was being torn apart. Gripped by immense fear, he cursed his misfortune for encountering such a powerful living being.

The Ghost Officiant lay trembling on the ground, quivering as he said, ”It’s honestly not any Sword Star Lord... I... I was sent by Lord Lǚ Bù.”

Lǚ Bù! Damn... are you kidding me?

Chu Hao was nearly unable to react, completely taken by surprise that it would be Lǚ Bù. Anxiously, he asked, ”Lǚ Bù, is it Lǚ Fengxian?”

Chu Hao’s mind was in turmoil. Lǚ Bù was still lingering, refusing to reincarnate after all these years, still pining for Diao Chan, even sending a Ghost Officiant to seek her out!

The Ghost Officiant nodded repeatedly and said, ”It’s indeed Lord Lǚ Bù. I’m truly not sent by Sword Star Lord. Heavenly Master, please spare my life.”

Though Ghost Officiants are formidable in the Underworld, living humans are the true masters in the Yang Realm. Ordinary masters typically wouldn’t capture Ghost Officiants, but there are exceptions. Some even capture them to practice Evil Techniques. This particular Ghost Officiant wasn’t ordered to the Yang Realm to escort souls but to monitor someone. If he were killed, tracing the murderer would be difficult.

Chu Hao narrowed his eyes and asked, ”What do you know? And how much do you know about that young lady?”

The Ghost Officiant truthfully replied, ”I don’t know much. This girl greatly resembles a person from the Lord’s past. I was dispatched to observe her.”

Chu Hao inquired, ”Does Lǚ Bù know who she is?”

The Ghost Officiant shook his head and said, ”The Lord mentioned she might be a reincarnation of an old acquaintance and just ordered me to observe, to report to the Lord once I have information.”

So, Lǚ Bù believes Diao Chan is a reincarnation?

Chu Hao felt uneasy. Lǚ Bù was already dead, yet he still couldn’t let go of Diao Chan.

Chu Hao didn’t kill the Ghost Officiant. If something happened to the officiant, Lǚ Bù would definitely know, and he might then come looking for Diao Chan. Lǚ Bù had been in the Underworld for so many years; Chu Hao had no idea how powerful the once war deity had become.

Chu Hao asked, ”What’s Lǚ Bù’s strength?”

The Ghost Officiant replied bitterly, ”Heavenly Master, how would I know? I’m just a lowly Soul Hooking Ghost Messenger.”

Chu Hao rephrased his question, ”What’s Lǚ Bù’s status in the Netherworld?”

Only then did the Ghost Officiant say, ”The Lord is the Great General guarding the frontier of the Land of the Vast Ancient and serves Yanjun King Chu Jiang.”

What kind of strength must a Great General guarding the frontier possess?

Unable to help himself, Chu Hao asked, ”The Jail Master of a Small Hell and Lǚ Bù—who holds a higher office?”

After thinking, the Ghost Officiant said, ”The Jail Master of a Small Hell would have to show the Lord due respect.”

Indeed, a Great General under King Chu Jiang holds a distinctly different status. There are many Jail Masters of Small Hells, so naturally, they cannot compare.

What the hell! He’s that strong.

Chu Hao had a headache. So, Lǚ Bù’s strength and status are very high. Isn’t that just like a powerful and wealthy elite from the Underworld?

After thinking, Chu Hao said, ”This Heavenly Master understands. You pose no harm to this young lady, but should I learn that you are lying, I will definitely throw you into a frying pan. Now, get out.”

The Ghost Officiant was ecstatic. He had feared he was going to be killed. Now, it seemed this master of the Yang Realm was only concerned about the young lady’s safety. He breathed a sigh of relief.

After the Ghost Officiant left, Chu Hao returned to the Sichuan restaurant. He thought for a long time and decided to tell Diao Chan about this matter.

Li Yin tactfully left, saying he was going to the restroom.

After Li Yin left, Chu Hao earnestly said, ”Lǚ Bù has found you.”

Diao Chan looked at Chu Hao, an indescribable emotion in her eyes, and said, ”Diao Chan already knows.”

Chu Hao’s heart skipped a beat. She knew all along, yet chose not to tell me.

A strange pain arose within him as he gave a wry smile.

Lǚ Bù, Diao Chan... after so many years, are they still unable to forget each other?

However, Diao Chan hastily said, ”Brother Chu, don’t misunderstand. Diao Chan has no feelings for Lǚ Bù. You must believe Diao Chan.”

Chu Hao was visibly taken aback and commented strangely, ”No, weren’t you and Lǚ Bù—”

Diao Chan stuck out her tongue and said, ”Brother Chu Hao, you’re overthinking things. Chan’er was only with Lǚ Bù in name. Though he was very affectionate towards me, he subscribed to the heroic ideals of that era and was very arrogant. I don’t like that type of person. Besides, I was forced by my adoptive father.”
