Ghost Catching System

To think I’d come to the Underworld only to be tracked down by a Divine Deity I’d thrashed before! The heavens must want me, the King of Show-offs, dead!

System notification: ”Completion of the Pretentious Expert task is of utmost importance. As the King of Show-offs, how could I admit defeat?”

The System seems to be doing this on purpose, pushing Brother Hao into a corner.

For the sake of leveling up, I, Brother Hao, am going all out!

Chu Hao slowly calmed his emotions and looked at Sword Star Lord, saying, ”So it’s you.”

Sword Star Lord replied coldly, ”Indeed, it is I.”

Chu Hao smiled faintly, suddenly raising the Ritian Stick and, using all his strength, smashed it hard on the Ghost Mother’s head.

With a tragic scream, the severely injured Ghost Mother was obliterated by the blow.

”DING. Killing the Ghost Mother, task completed, obtained Soul Sealing Lock.”

”DING. Killing the Ghost Mother, task completed, rewarded with 100,000 Merit Points.”

”DING. Killing the Ghost Mother, task completed, rewarded with three Diamond Treasure Chests.”

Sword Star Lord could never have expected Chu Hao to suddenly make a move. Where did he get such courage?

Sword Star Lord stared at Chu Hao. A formidable pressure emanated from him, shaking the very heavens and earth as if a Divine Deity had descended.

”You killed her. Do you know what awaits you?” said Sword Star Lord, his tone extremely icy, cutting to the bone.

Waving his hand, Chu Hao’s demeanor was no less imposing than Sword Star Lord’s. Even in the face of an Underworld Deity, he showed no fear. He calmly replied, ”What awaits me? Sorry, even if you are an Underworld Deity, what of it!”

What of it!

”DING. Pretentious Expert task 97% complete. Please continue to make an effort.”

Sword Star Lord was stunned. He stared fixedly at Chu Hao as his Ghost Qi bore down like the arrival of All Heavenly Gods and Buddhas.

Chu Hao said indifferently, ”Sword Star Lord, right? Do you still remember what this Taoist Master said to you when you were beaten up in the Yang Realm?”

Beaten up!

A group of Ghost Officiants watched incredulously, their gazes shifting between Sword Star Lord and Chu Hao.

Damn, how can he be so badass?

This guy’s a true bigwig of the Underworld, and he actually managed to beat him up?

The corner of Sword Star Lord’s mouth twitched as Chu Hao brought up the incident. Is he really not afraid of death?

Chu Hao continued, ”Let me tell you the truth. It doesn’t matter if you’re merely the Jail Master of a Small Hell; so what if you were Yanjun himself? This Taoist Master has never taken you seriously. I’ve debated the Dao with Laozi and discussed the layout of the Three Realms with the Heavenly Emperor. Who do you think you are?”

”DING. Lord Show-off task 99% complete. Please continue to make an effort.”

Almost there, about to break through.

This kind of showing off is too thrilling, but Brother Hao is just that awesome.

Finally, Sword Star Lord burst into rage, saying, ”What nonsense are you spouting?”

Chu Hao chuckled coldly. ”Do I need to spell it out for you? In my eyes, you’re nothing—merely an insect, easily crushed if I wish.”

The System didn’t give a notification!

Just a bit more, let the storm of showing off rage even more fiercely!

Chu Hao raised his head, arms crossed, as if looking at a clown. His gaze was sharp as he warned, ”Don’t mess with me, otherwise... even Yanjun’s arrival won’t be able to protect you.”

Don’t mess with me.

”DING. Congratulations Host, you’ve completed the Pretentious Expert task, leveled up to Little Prince of Show-offs, level 1.”

”DING. Congratulations Host, you’ve completed the Pretentious Expert task, awarded 10,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

The crowd of ghosts erupted. Chu Hao’s string of remarks set them abuzz.

The Ghost Officiants’ eyes nearly popped out, and their jaws dropped to the floor. They couldn’t imagine where Chu Hao got the courage to speak to an Underworld Jail Master like that.

Sword Star Lord was also dumbfounded, even suspecting he was dreaming.

Where did this kid get his courage?

No, that’s not right! A person wouldn’t act like this when they’re scared. Could he truly be fearless?

As a Jail Master, Sword Star Lord had seen too much. Chu Hao was an enigma to him, not playing by any known rules. Unless there was another possibility: the kid really wasn’t afraid of him and had backing and other means.

This!?

Sword Star Lord was annoyed. No matter how hard he racked his brain, he couldn’t fathom where the other’s courage came from.

He had already investigated Chu Hao’s background: his parents had both been recruited by the Great Netherworld and couldn’t leave. So, what other tricks could Chu Hao possibly have up his sleeve?

Chu Hao, meanwhile, was terrified that his pretentious act would result in him being killed with a single strike.

However, Sword Star Lord’s hesitation and internal struggle were beyond his expectations.

Could it be that this Underworld Deity was afraid?

The Pretentious Expert indeed has such power... For the first time, Chu Hao realized that pretentiousness was an art form.

But now was not the time to continue showing off. His goal had been achieved. Before the other party snapped out of their daze, slipping away was the best move.

Chu Hao said, ”System, purchase the Human World Teleportation Altar.”

System: ”Host has purchased the Human World Teleportation Altar, consuming 10,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

It actually costs ten thousand! There’s a saying that entering the Yin Cao Netherworld is easy, but leaving is hard.

Ten thousand it is then; there’s no time to worry about the cost now.

Hehe... Now that I’m back in the Yang Realm, that Sword Star Lord wouldn’t dare chase me, right?

But just then, two people entered everyone’s sight: Yan Furong and Yan Chen, whom Chu Hao knew well.

Yan Furong and Yan Chen had spotted Chu Hao long ago and were speechless at his audacious facade.

Yan Furong said, ”Jail Master, don’t believe his words; they’re all lies! The Ghost Mother wasn’t severely injured by him. Chu Hao killed the Ghost Mother’s child, which is why she was hunting us. I don’t know how he managed to escape into the Underworld.”

Upon hearing this, Sword Star Lord was taken aback again.

Gao Jingshou almost spewed blood. He had previously believed that the Ghost Mother was severely wounded by Chu Hao, only to find out it wasn’t true.

Sword Star Lord had a sudden realization and became instantly furious. He roared, feeling deeply humiliated, ”Chu Hao!?” This kid was tricking me all along! And the worst part is, I actually fell for it!

Chu Hao cursed Yan Furong inwardly. That woman! To think she’d expose me at such a critical moment!

Chu Hao summoned the Human World Teleportation Altar and stepped onto it.

Just as he stepped on and vanished, Sword Star Lord lunged for it too. He was so enraged by Chu Hao that he didn’t care where the altar led.

Yan Furong and Yan Chen, seeing the altar, were overjoyed and quickly followed, stepping onto it as well.

...

In Anli City, Chu Hao returned to the Yang Realm.

He appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the street and was nearly hit by a taxi. The driver rubbed his eyes, thinking he’d seen wrong. He stuck his head out and cursed, ”Can’t you watch where you’re going? Are you blind?”

Chu Hao breathed a sigh of relief. He was overjoyed, practically jumping with excitement. Not only had he escaped the Underworld, but he had also pulled off such a satisfying act of pretentiousness and leveled up in the process—this was a huge gain.

”HAHA! I’m back!” Chu Hao tilted his head back and roared with laughter.

”Are you insane?” the taxi driver cursed again.

Just then, an extremely furious voice rang out, shaking the very space. Many people on the street clutched their ears, their pupils dilating in shock.

”Chu Hao!?”
