Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1098: 1097 is Momo

Wen Jin had just reached the door of the hospital room when Lu Zhiyan’s call came in.

Abandoning the idea of pushing the door open, he turned around, took a few steps away, and answered the phone, “Zhixing, do you have news about Momo?”

“Uh-huh, I’m at the station now. I just took photographs of all the babies who fit the description. I’m not sure if one of them is Momo. I’m sending you the pictures.”

Over the phone, Lu Zhiyan’s voice came through.

“Okay, send them over. I’m at the hospital now.”

Wen Jin’s eyes changed, and his grip on his phone tightened.

“You guys confirm if it’s Momo first; if it is, I’ll apply to the superiors…”

Lu Zhiyan, although the team leader, still had to report to his superiors when required.

“Alright.”

Even though Mo Xiuchen had provided Lu Zhiyan with the portraits of Momo and that woman, he still couldn’t be sure which one of the babies, who fit the profile from all sides, was Momo.

After ending the call, Lu Zhiyan, who had retrieved photos from surveillance cameras from all around the station, including the airport if they fit the criteria, sent them all to Wen Jin.

Wen Jin pushed the door and entered the hospital room, looking at the pictures with Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran.

“These were just sent by Zhixing. He wasn’t sure if Momo was there, so he sent all of them.”

“Ranran, don’t be anxious.”

Wen Jin had not yet reached the hospital bed when Wen Ran tried to get up from the bed. Mo Xiuchen quickly reassured her, assisting her to rise. She just stared intently at Wen Jin’s phone, as if all pain had temporarily vanished.

Seeing this, Wen Jin quickly approached the hospital bed and handed the phone to Wen Ran for her to look at.

He and Mo Xiuchen tilted their heads to look at the phone screen with Wen Ran.

“It’s Momo, Xiuchen, brother,”

Suddenly, Wen Ran looked up excitedly at Mo Xiuchen and Wen Jin.

“Yes, I see it too. It’s Momo, Ranran; don’t worry. I’m immediately calling Zhixing to tell him that Momo is in these pictures.”

Mo Xiuchen took out his phone, “I’ll call him.”

Since Wen Jin’s phone was in Wen Ran’s hands, if he were to call, Wen Ran would need to return the phone to him.

Clearly, Wen Ran did not want to hand the phone back to Wen Jin right now, as she quickly lowered her head again, peering intently at the pictures in the phone, gripping it tightly.

Wen Jin nodded, and Mo Xiuchen dialed Lu Zhiyan’s number, then stood up and walked towards the door.

Wen Ran, looking at the picture of Momo on the phone, could only see a small wrist wearing a bracelet and a side view of a face.

Yet, she recognized her straight away—that was her precious daughter, just a few days old. So tiny, so small, she didn’t even know she was being carried away by strangers.

Her vision blurred again; she lifted her hand to wipe away tears, trying her best to open her eyes wide. Her finger trembled as she gently touched the phone screen, whispering silently in her heart, “Momo, you must be okay.”

Outside the hospital room, Mo Xiuchen’s tall figure stood in the hallway, his handsome brows cast in a particularly severe light under the illumination.

“I am Mo Xiuchen. The child in that black SUV is Momo.”

“Got it, I’ll check right away…”

Over the phone, Lu Zhiyan shared the possible destinations of the vehicle with Mo Xiuchen and, hanging up the call, he immediately dialed another number.

**

On the way to drop Bai Yiyi off at home, Gu Kai received a call from Mo Xiuchen.

“Ah Kai, Momo has been taken away from G City.”

Through the phone, Mo Xiuchen’s voice came through, causing Gu Kai’s grip on the steering wheel to tighten, and he asked in a grave voice, “Do you know where to?”

“The direction could be B, C or City E. On the way, there are also many possibilities. Lu Zhiyan is still further investigating…”

“Okay, I’ll take Bai Yiyi home now and then return to the hospital.”

Gu Kai glanced at Bai Yiyi in the rearview mirror. She looked worried and stared at him with a steady gaze.

“Mhm.”

Mo Xiuchen didn’t say anything more and hung up the phone.

“Is there news about Momo?”

Bai Yiyi, seeing that Gu Kai had ended the call, immediately asked with concern.

Gu Kai turned to look at her and said indifferently, “Yes, they’ve already taken Momo out of G City. At the moment, we don’t know where they went.”

“Having news is always good. Over by Ranran, those people will definitely call her. Tell Mo Xiuchen to stay with her more. Just now… I felt that she was somewhat…”

Bai Yiyi furrowed her brows slightly as she spoke.

She didn’t continue the rest of her sentence.

Gu Kai stared at her for a moment and immediately understood her, “I will have Mo Xiuchen stay with Ranran. She has been through so much before and came through it. Now, she will certainly not be so fragile.”

“It’s different.”

Bai Yiyi disagreed.

“You’re not a woman; you don’t understand women, especially mothers.”

“Alright, I’ll talk to Mo Xiuchen about it.” Gu Kai’s eyes darkened, thinking of his late mother. His heart tightened and his tone grew even heavier.

Back then, his mother suffered severe depression because of Ranran’s disappearance and passed away because of it.

At this thought, he gripped the steering wheel with sudden force. His handsome features took on a chill. Bai Yiyi, sitting beside him, felt the temperature in the car drop as she watched the change in his expression.

“Momo will definitely be okay.”

Seeing his grim face, Bai Yiyi pursed her lips and softly comforted him.

“Do you know how Momo was taken away?”

Gu Kai sat up straight, looking ahead. In Mo Yu’s eyes, there was deep self-blame. More than twenty years ago, he had always felt that it was his fault for not protecting his sister when Ranran disappeared.

Today, the fact that Momo was taken by the bad guys was still his responsibility.

“Wasn’t Momo taken from the hospital by those people?”

Bai Yiyi looked at him, somewhat puzzled. Why would he ask that? Could it be that he was the one who lost Momo.

“You really didn’t know?” Gu Kai looked at her with a hint of suspicion in his eyes, took a deep breath, and his voice filled with intense guilt echoed in the car: “It was Fang Zhiwei who lost Momo.”

“Miss Fang?”

Bai Yiyi’s eyes widened in shock as she looked at Gu Kai’s stern, self-reproaching face.

“Yes, in the afternoon, Fang Zhiwei was carrying Momo back to the baby room. On the way, she handed Momo over to a nurse. If she hadn’t carelessly given Momo to a nurse without knowing which department she was from, those people wouldn’t have had the opportunity.”

Gu Kai’s voice was heavy, causing an aching in one’s heart. The surveillance measures in their hospital had always been very good.

It should be said that ever since the incident where Ranran almost came to harm in the hospital, he had surveillance cameras installed in every nook and cranny. In the afternoon, after learning that Momo was missing, he checked the surveillance footage.

Fang Zhiwei was distracted while carrying Momo at that time.

“What’s done is done. Miss Fang didn’t do it on purpose. Don’t be too angry.”

Bai Yiyi fell silent for a moment and then spoke lightly.
