Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1096: 1095 I can’t control myself

Bai Yiyi arrived at the door of the hospital room just as Wen Ran was on the phone.

She pushed open the door, and Wen Ran had just hung up.

“Ranran, who was on the phone?”

Bai Yiyi saw Wen Ran’s eyes, slightly red and swollen, and her heart suddenly tightened. Being a mother herself, she could fully empathize with Ranran’s current feelings.

Babies nurtured for ten months in the womb are the apple of their mother’s eye, and mothers wish to give them the very best in the world – no amount of love ever seems enough.

Having a baby kidnapped is like having your heart gouged out, the pain a thousand times worse.

Wen Ran looked at the entering Bai Yiyi, paused for a moment, raised her hand to wipe away tears, and tried to make her voice sound calm, “It was An Lin, she has learned about what happened to Momo.”

“Ranran, don’t be sad, Momo will definitely be fine. President Wen has gone to the director’s office, and Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai are all there, they will surely come up with a plan.”

While speaking, she pulled out a tissue and handed it to Wen Ran.

Wen Ran took the tissue Bai Yiyi handed over and wiped her tears, listening to her say, “Ranran, you can’t be sad now, stop crying, too many tears will hurt your eyes.”

“I can’t control myself.”

Wen Ran bit her lip hard. The aura engulfing her was thick with sorrow, a sadness others could not comprehend.

“Momo is still so small, if they took her away, what if she gets hungry?”

Wen Ran wiped away her tears dryly, but thoughts of Momo caused the tears to fall uncontrollably, like cut pearls, large and heavy, tugging at one’s heartstrings.

Bai Yiyi’s eyes quickly filled with moisture as well, “Ranran, it was Lu Zhiyan who called President Wen, he must be searching for Momo at train stations, airports, and other places right now.”

Bai Yiyi did not know that someone had already called Ranran with threats not to call the police. She meant to comfort Wen Ran, but upon hearing her words, Wen Ran sat up excitedly.

The next moment, due to the pain from her injuries, cold sweat broke out on her forehead, and her face turned utterly pale.

“Ranran, don’t be agitated, your wound hasn’t healed yet.”

Bai Yiyi’s face changed drastically, and she pressed her hand against Wen Ran.

“We can’t call the police, they said if I did, Momo would be killed,” Wen Ran managed despite her pain, her mind focused solely on her daughter.

Bai Yiyi was stunned, “Ranran, have they called you?”

“Mm, the person said that if I call the police, they would kill Momo. She is so young, she’s only been in this world for a few days… No, I have to call Mo Xiuchen to have him stop Lu Zhiyan’s search.”

Wen Ran said this, trembling as she grabbed her phone and dialed the number with shaky hands.

“Mo Xiuchen, didn’t you say you didn’t call the police? How could Brother Lu know about it?”

As soon as the call connected, Wen Ran asked anxiously, her sobbing voice penetrating through the signal into Mo Xiuchen’s ears, causing a sudden pain in his chest, “Ranran, don’t be agitated, I’ll be back in the hospital room soon, and I’ll explain everything to you in detail then.”

“I just want Momo to be safe. Before the other party makes their intentions clear, don’t let the police get involved anymore, Mo Xiuchen, I’m afraid they will hurt Momo.”

Towards the end, the sadness in Wen Ran’s voice poured out, and once again her tears blurred her vision.

“Okay.”

Mo Xiuchen stood up, glanced at the other three people in the room, took big strides out of the office, and headed back to the hospital room.

“Ranran, do you know who took Momo away?”

Bai Yiyi asked softly. She knew that Wen Ran had almost lost her mind due to Momo’s disappearance. All she could think about was Momo’s well-being.

She had experienced this kind of worry and urgency when Tongtong injured her eyes.

Wen Ran’s panic and fear at this moment were immeasurable.

She looked at the cold sweat continuously forming on Wen Ran’s forehead, and felt a pang of sadness, “Ranran, you should lie down for now. Shall I raise the bed a bit for you?”

Wen Ran was just staring intently at her phone, flipping through the call log. Seeing that blank record with no number, she felt a sharp pain pierce her heart again.

It was a pain that seemed to dig out her heart and scrape her bones—perhaps nothing could be more terrifying.

Bai Yiyi raised the head of the bed a little so Wen Ran could lie down comfortably just as Mo Xiuchen strode in.

“Ranran.”

His gaze fell on her tear-reddened eyes, and Mo Xiuchen’s heart tightened. He hurried over and reached out to wipe away her tears.

Wen Ran turned her head away, choking up as she said, “Xiuchen, you can’t pressure those people too much… if you corner them, they might hurt Momo.”

“I’ve called Lu Zhiyan, and they were plainclothes officers, not wearing uniforms.”

Mo Xiuchen sat down on the edge of the bed, looking at Wen Ran with a heart full of tenderness.

“What about Ziyi? Why didn’t you bring him back with you?”

It was only then that Wen Ran saw he had come back alone, and she panicked, sitting up from where she was leaning against the headboard.

Mo Xiuchen gently pushed her back onto the bed, his large hand caressing her cheek as he said softly, “Ranran, Ah Jin is holding Ziyi, and he’ll be back soon. Starting tonight, Ziyi won’t sleep in the nursery; he’ll stay with us.”

Originally, Wen Ran had planned to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow.

Who would have thought that Momo would go missing today?

“Okay.”

Wen Ran was stunned, but the turmoil in her eyes gradually settled down.

Mo Xiuchen, looking at Wen Ran in this state, felt indescribable pain in his heart. He thought of Ranran’s mother; it was because of Ranran that she…

Thinking this, his heart clenched painfully again.

Leaning over, he embraced Wen Ran, whispering in her ear, “Ranran, you have to be strong. I promise you, we will definitely get Momo back.”

Wen Ran’s body was somewhat rigid as Mo Xiuchen held her, and the image that appeared before her eyes was Momo’s delicate and pretty little face. Having spent just a few days with Momo, she was already unable to bear the pain of loss.

Bai Yiyi looked at Mo Xiuchen embracing Wen Ran. She pressed her lips together and quietly left the hospital room.

Down the hallway, Wen Jin and Gu Kai were walking side by side; Wen Jin was holding Ziyi, while Gu Kai was pushing an infant’s crib.

“Wait a moment before going in, Mo Xiuchen is comforting Ranran.”

Bai Yiyi stepped forward a few steps, blocking Wen Jin and Gu Kai.

“You hold Ziyi. I’ll take a call.” Wen Jin’s phone rang. He handed Ziyi to Bai Yiyi and pulled out his own phone—it was a call from a client. He walked a few steps away to answer it.

In the corridor, only Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi were left.

For a moment, the atmosphere was awkward.

Bai Yiyi, holding Ziyi, ignored Gu Kai. She looked at Ziyi and thought again of the missing Momo; her mood grew heavy.

“Is Tongtong doing well?”

Gu Kai saw Bai Yiyi staring at Ziyi for a long time without lifting her head. His gaze passed over her and glanced at the hospital room in front of him and asked in a muffled voice.

Bai Yiyi only glanced up at him once before lowering her gaze again, focusing on Ziyi’s small, handsome face, “Tongtong is doing well, she’s started to learn to make sounds, and she’s grown two more teeth this month. And you, have you set a wedding date with Miss Fang?”
