Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1074: 1073 Blood Relations

“…”

Bai Xiaoxiao couldn’t get her refusal out before Li En snatched the towel from her hand; she opened her mouth, then swallowed her words back down.

Li En gave her a gentle smile, “You eat breakfast first, and then you can feed Tongtong later.”

Bai Yiyi opened the breakfast and took a bite of a xiaolongbao, murmuring, “Elder Brother Li, about the matter I asked for your help with the night before last, it’s not necessary anymore.”

The action of washing Tongtong’s hands paused as Li En turned to look at Bai Yiyi, who was sitting and eating breakfast, her dark circles were indeed very severe, her complexion, not too good.

“Gu Kai already knows?”

He stared at Bai Yiyi for a few seconds and asked coolly.

Bai Yiyi nodded, “Yes, he had his suspicions, and when Tongtong was hospitalized, he had a DNA test done.” Seeing Li En’s expression change, a flicker of worry crossed her eyes, “Gu Kai promised me he wouldn’t take Tongtong away.”

“He’s that easy to talk to?”

Li En narrowed his eyes, clearly not believing it.

“Mm, I negotiated the conditions with him.”

“What conditions?”

Li En asked, his expression somewhat grave; originally, he wanted to take this opportunity to finally have Yiyi marry him.

Having been her boyfriend for only one day, he was now being dismissed – how could he not be angry?

The light in Bai Yiyi’s eyes flickered. Under Li En’s sharp and solemn gaze, she said calmly, “His conditions were exactly what I had in mind initially.”

Anger appeared on Li En’s face, “Exactly what you had in mind? Does that bastard Gu Kai want you to stay single for life and forbid you from getting married?”

“Elder Brother Li, don’t be angry. Gu Kai is also thinking of Tongtong; he’s worried that if I get married and have other children, I won’t love Tongtong anymore. Anyway, I never planned to get married – this works out perfectly as long as he doesn’t fight with me for Tongtong.”

“Is that the only condition?”

“There’s one more; he wants Tongtong to take his surname.”

“No, Yiyi, Tongtong is the child you carried for ten months and gave birth to with great difficulty. You’ve been raising her alone for over half a year now; Gu Kai can’t just have her take his surname without having contributed anything.”

Li En objected without a second thought.

Seeing his anger, Bai Yiyi said gently, “Elder Brother Li, this is between Gu Kai and me. As long as Tongtong can stay with me, it doesn’t matter what her surname is.”

Her implication was that he should not get involved.

Li En’s expression shifted because of this.

“Yiyi, even though this is your own matter, I can’t just stand by and watch you get bullied. I’m going to find Gu Kai right now.”

With that, Li En threw down the towel, placed Tongtong in the middle of the bed and handed her a Barbie doll, then he turned and left.

“Elder Brother Li, you can’t go.”

Bai Yiyi had not expected Li En to be so angry that he would go find Gu Kai.

Seeing him turn and leave, she hurriedly put down her breakfast and chased after him, grabbing him, “Elder Brother Li, this is a matter between Gu Kai and me. Let me handle it myself.”

“Wah——”

On the bed, seeing her mother chase Elder Brother Li to the door, Tongtong thought they were both leaving her behind and started crying with a wail.

“Tongtong, don’t cry.” Hearing Tongtong’s cry, Bai Yiyi let go of Li En, turned around, and went back to hold Tongtong, while Li En used that moment to open the door and leave the hospital room.

Bai Yiyi called out, but the only answer she got was the sound of the door closing.

She picked up Tongtong and, while soothing her to stop crying, quickly left the ward to chase after Li En.

Li En took the elevator to Gu Kai’s office floor. When he knocked on the door, Bai Yiyi, holding Tongtong, caught up from behind.

Inside the office, Gu Kai opened the door. Upon seeing Li En outside, his eyes slightly changed. Then, seeing Bai Yiyi carrying Tongtong as well, his expression immediately darkened.

“Gu Kai, you bastard.”

Li En angrily cursed, swinging his fist straight for Gu Kai just like the last time.

Gu Kai wouldn’t take a hit from him; dodging the fist with a turn of his head was one thing, but he also counterattacked.

“Elder Brother Li, Gu Kai, please don’t fight.”

Bai Yiyi hadn’t even had time to react before the two men started fighting right at the doorstep of the office. She let out a low cry. In her arms, Tongtong, who had just been soothed into not crying, burst into tears again at the sight of the two men brawling.

Li En was no match for Gu Kai. After just a few moves, Li En took a hit to the face. Seeing Li En at a disadvantage, Bai Yiyi, holding Tongtong, rushed forward, blocking Gu Kai, “Gu Kai, stop it.”

Gu Kai’s gaze shot towards her with a fierce intensity, but the punch he swung out came to a harsh stop. Seeing the frightened look on Tongtong’s face, he tensed up and ceased.

However, Li En, feeling aggrieved, seized the moment Gu Kai stopped to deliver a vicious punch to his face.

Gu Kai stretched out his hand, wanting to pick up the frightened Tongtong, but unable to dodge in time, he took Li En’s punch and let out a muffled grunt, as a trace of blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.

“Elder Brother Li, please stop hitting him.”

Bai Yiyi’s face went pale, seeing Gu Kai filled with rage and fearing the two would start fighting again. She hurriedly passed Tongtong into Gu Kai’s arms, “Gu Kai, stop fighting. You’ve scared Tongtong.”

Gu Kai wiped the trace of blood from the corner of his mouth with his hand and spat out another mouthful, enduring the pain as he took Tongtong into his arms.

“Yiyi, you can’t let him hold Tongtong. He’s not worthy.”

Li En glared darkly at Gu Kai, intent on snatching Tongtong back, but Bai Yiyi quickly grasped his arm, “Elder Brother Li, you go back first. I can handle this myself.”

“Ba”

Tongtong had started making some indistinct sounds. After being picked up by Gu Kai, tears still lingered in her eyes, though she had stopped crying and reached out her small hand to touch the corner of his mouth.

Gu Kai’s heart warmed, and the rage in his eyes dissipated like smoke when Tongtong’s little hand touched the painful corner of his mouth.

“Tongtong is such a good girl.”

He smiled, but then his brows furrowed; that sneaky punch from Li En, thrown with full force, had instantly bruised his mouth.

Tongtong’s touch was gentle, and although she was too small to understand anything, that act, perhaps unintentional, filled Gu Kai with an indescribable warmth and emotion.

He interpreted Tongtong’s behavior as her way of showing concern for him.

Even Bai Yiyi, standing aside, was taken aback by Tongtong’s gesture, her emotions a complex jumble.

“Ah Kai!”

Down the corridor, Fang Zhiwei, Mo Xiuchen, and Wen Ran approached together, with Fang Zhiwei being the speaker.

When Gu Kai saw her, his eyes changed again, but he didn’t return Tongtong to Bai Yiyi.

By the side, a cold smile flashed across Li En’s eyes.

“Miss Bai, you’re here too… Ah Kai, what happened to the corner of your mouth?”

When she arrived, Fang Zhiwei greeted Bai Yiyi before turning to look at Gu Kai, eyes filled with deep concern.

Wen Ran’s gaze swept across Li En, noticing a bruise on his forehead as well. Clearly, there had been a fight between her brother and Li En, both bearing injuries. Her brows furrowed involuntarily, and beside her, Mo Xiuchen held her hand, tightening his grip reassuringly.
