Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1052: 1051 I can explain it to her.

Wen Ran’s words had barely left her mouth when the sound of footsteps on the other end of the phone call abruptly stopped.

Bai Yiyi’s heartbeat suddenly skipped a beat, “Ranran, did you say Elder Brother Li hit your brother?”

“Yiyi, that Li En is so strange, if my brother hadn’t dodged quickly, he would definitely be bruised and swollen by now. He also called my brother scum, do you know what this is all about?”

Wen Ran’s tone was filled with bewilderment, which only tightened Bai Yiyi’s grip on her phone as she quickly thought things over, before explaining, “Ranran, it might be because I mentioned to Li En before that your brother had objections towards me… He confessed to me today and was rejected, so he was in a bad mood and went after your brother, I’m sorry.”

“It’s not like you were the one who hit my brother, why say sorry? I just called because I didn’t understand why Li En was so annoyed with my brother.”

Wen Ran’s voice was soft, without a hint of blame, just expressing her confusion. This only made Bai Yiyi feel more guilty.

After that night with Gu Kai, it seemed like she really couldn’t blame him.

She had been tricked by someone else’s scheme, and if anything, it was thanks to Gu Kai that she wasn’t taken advantage of by that pot-bellied man.

Although, being violated was the same, it was somehow more bearable to have it done by a young and handsome man rather than an old man old enough to be her father.

“Ranran, I’ll call Elder Brother Li in a bit and talk to him. Besides that, he didn’t say anything to make your brother’s girlfriend misunderstand, did he?”

On the other end of the phone, Bai Xiaoxiao fell silent for a moment before speaking again, her voice carrying a tinge of unease.

Previously, Li En had asked her several times who Tongtong’s biological father was, and Bai Yiyi hadn’t told him. Li En was her father’s student and had a better relationship with Fu Jingyi than she did as his daughter.

Li En acted in ways influenced by her father, and she was afraid…

“Mo Xiuchen interrupted Li En before he could say anything more, and he didn’t continue afterward. Sister Wei must be as full of doubts as I am.”

“Ranran, I’m really sorry, if Miss Fang really has any misunderstandings, I can explain to her.”

When Bai Yiyi heard that Fang Zhiwei might have misunderstood Gu Kai, she couldn’t help but frown.

Wen Ran laughed reassuringly, “Yiyi, you don’t need to worry, Brother will explain it to Sister Wei, and it’ll be fine.”

After hanging up with Bai Yiyi, Wen Ran’s car was just pulling into the villa.

Getting out of the car, Mo Xiuchen held her hand as they walked toward the living room, his voice soft, “Ranran, one thing is for sure, whether or not Bai Yiyi and your brother had anything in the past, she wants nothing to do with your brother now.”

Wen Ran nodded. From Bai Yiyi’s words, she could sense that much.

After hanging up with Wen Ran, Bai Yiyi turned and headed back downstairs.

She strode toward the exit of the residential area while dialing Li En’s number. The phone rang several times before Li En’s voice came through, “Yiyi.”

Bai Yiyi frowned, her question laced with displeasure, “Elder Brother Li, did you just go looking for trouble with Gu Kai?”

“Did Gu Kai tell you that over the phone?”

On the phone, Li En’s retort only increased Bai Yiyi’s annoyance, her tone growing colder, “It doesn’t matter how I found out. If you went to fight with Gu Kai over me, you at least owe me an explanation.”

“Where are you? We should talk in person.”

Li En’s tone wasn’t any better, clearly, the name Gu Kai hit a nerve.

“I’m waiting for you in the park nearby the neighborhood.”

Bai Yiyi finished speaking and hung up the phone, then went straight to the nearby park and sat on a bench, hesitating on whether to call Gu Kai.

In the end, she dismissed the idea of calling Gu Kai, deciding instead to first hear what Li En had to say.

Today, Li En’s behavior left everyone filled with confusion, not only Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen, but also Fang Zhiwei, and even Gu Kai fell back into confusion and doubt.

“Ah Kai, do you want to come inside and sit for a while? My dad should be at home watering the flowers around this time.”

The Maybach stopped in front of the Fang family’s house, and before Fang Zhiwei got out of the car, she turned to look at Gu Kai and asked with a smile.

Gu Kai was holding the steering wheel with both hands, his brows slightly furrowed. After stopping the car, he again became lost in thought. Hearing Fang Zhiwei’s voice, a flicker of bewilderment passed through his Mo Yu-like eyes, and after a moment, he answered, “No thank you, I’ll visit some other time.”

Fang Zhiwei didn’t insist, giving him a nod before opening the car door and getting out. She said warmly again, “Drive slowly.”

“Okay.”

Gu Kai replied with a gentleman’s smile and drove away without further delay.

Fang Zhiwei stood at her front door, staring blankly in the direction the Maybach disappeared. On the way back just now, she never asked Gu Kai what Li En meant or if he was involved in any way with Bai Yiyi.

In fact, she was quite afraid for Gu Kai to explain.

Fortunately, Gu Kai didn’t say anything, so she pretended that there was nothing between him and Bai Yiyi.

Just like Wen Ran had said before, the only reason Gu Kai disliked Bai Yiyi was because her father had hurt Wen Ran. And so, Li En’s words were not as she had wildly imagined.

Li En hurried to the park near Bai Yiyi’s house, parked his car, but did not get out immediately.

He sat in the car, looking through the window at Bai Yiyi sitting on a bench in the distance, the setting sun casting a slender shadow of her slim figure on the ground.

It wasn’t until Bai Yiyi turned and looked his way that Li En got out of the car and walked towards her.

Bai Yiyi stood up, her gaze steady as she watched him approach, the memory of their first meeting ten years ago surfacing in her mind.

In the blink of an eye, it had already been ten years.

Throughout these ten years, Li En had always been the messenger between her and her father, Fu Jingyi, and she had always regarded him as a brother.

“Yiyi.”

Li En stopped two steps in front of her. His tall figure cast a shadow over the setting sun, draping a silhouette across her delicate face.

“Let’s sit down to talk.”

Bai Yiyi pursed her lips, sat back down on the bench she had been occupying, and Li En settled next to her.

For a time, no one spoke, and silence stealthily spread.

After a long while, Bai Yiyi broke the silence, whispering, “Elder Brother Li, we’ve known each other for ten years, haven’t we?”

Li En’s eyes tightened slightly, he pursed his lips, and answered, “Ten years, three months, and twenty days.”

“You have a really good memory.” Bai Yiyi’s lowered head lifted at his words, a flicker of astonishment in her clear eyes — she hadn’t expected him to remember so clearly.

A warm look appeared in Li En’s eyes, “Yiyi, from the day I met you, I’ve kept you in my heart, which is why I remember.”

“I’ve always seen you as a brother.”

Bai Yiyi spoke very calmly, not becoming flustered or bashful at his words. Without having been moved, there would be no upheaval in her heart.

Li En’s eyes dimmed, a bitter smile playing on his lips, “I know, you’ve said so before.”
