Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1092: 1091 feels insecure

“You’re not being kind to Wen Ran; you want to make Wen Ran feel guilty.”

Mo Xiuchen furrowed his brows, his tone becoming heavier.

Caught off guard, Gu Kai was just about to defend himself when Mo Xiuchen did not give him the chance to speak and directly said, “You clearly don’t like Fang Zhiwei; you married her only because she treats Wen Ran well. If you end up unhappy in the future, Wen Ran will definitely feel guilty, thinking she’s the reason for your unhappiness.”

“Mo Xiuchen, why would you think that? Although I don’t have the deep feelings for Fang Zhiwei that you have for Wen Ran, I don’t dislike her, and spending a lifetime with her isn’t that hard, is it? What is happiness or unhappiness?”

“If you don’t like Fang Zhiwei, there’s no guarantee you won’t fall for another woman in this lifetime. When that time comes, you will feel that marrying Fang Zhiwei was a mistake.”

Mo Xiuchen’s tone wasn’t stern, but his calm and confident words weighed heavy on Gu Kai’s heart.

A face flashed before his eyes, not Fang Zhiwei’s but another woman’s. His brows furrowed momentarily, “Didn’t you also have no feelings when you initially married Wen Ran?”

“No, it was just that Wen Ran had no feelings for me; I had feelings for her.”

Mentioning Wen Ran softened Mo Xiuchen’s tone, and a gentle warmth unconsciously spread across his face, softening his entire demeanor.

This change was effortless, like the natural law of the changing seasons.

Watching Mo Xiuchen’s features soften, Gu Kai took a month to finally persuade his heart, which wavered again.

In the hospital room, Fang Zhiwei held Momo in her arms, asked the special nursing assistant to step out, and sat on the chair by the bed, keeping Wen Ran company while she drank soup.

“Wen Ran, did you tell Ah Kai about what I mentioned the other day?”

“What matter?”

Wen Ran was watching Momo, caught off guard by Fang Zhiwei’s question, her eyes momentarily blank.

Fang Zhiwei lowered her gaze slightly, explaining in a soft voice, “It’s about Ah Kai wanting Bai Yiyi to stay single.”

“Oh.” Wen Ran suddenly realized, “Not yet, these past few days my brother has been in the surgery room all the time, I barely see him once, I’ll ask him in a bit.”

“In a bit?”

Fang Zhiwei was somewhat surprised.

Wen Ran nodded, smiling, “Yes, it’s not like there are outsiders anyway.”

Since it was Fang Zhiwei who asked her to talk to her brother, Wen Ran naturally wanted her to be present.

Wen Ran thought Fang Zhiwei was quite good, especially kind towards her brother. However, Wen Ran could tell that her brother did not like Fang Zhiwei very much, or to put it another way, he might like her but certainly wasn’t at the stage of love.

Fang Zhiwei asking her to persuade her brother was definitely not just because she thought his condition was too good for Bai Yiyi, but there was also a sense of unease. Naturally, such feelings and thoughts were normal.

But Wen Ran was Gu Kai’s sister, not Fang Zhiwei’s sister.

A flicker of hesitation flashed in Fang Zhiwei’s eyes as she was about to say something; however, just then, the door to the hospital room opened, and Gu Kai and Mo Xiuchen walked in.

“Wen Ran, is the soup tasty today?”

Gu Kai asked with a smile, striding to the bedside, bending down, and taking Momo from Fang Zhiwei’s arms, “And Ziyi, why is only Momo here?”

“Ziyi is fast asleep, so I only brought Momo over.”

Mo Xiuchen answered with a smile, seeing that Wen Ran had finished her soup, he immediately reached out for the bowl and asked, “Wen Ran, do you want more?”

“No, I’m done.”

Wen Ran gently shook her head, and Fang Zhiwei stood up, stepping back to give her spot to Mo Xiuchen. Wen Ran saw him take out a tissue to wipe her mouth, she smiled and played with Momo together with Gu Kai.

“Brother, you’ve just come back from a business trip, have you seen Tongtong yet?”

After enjoying Mo Xiuchen’s care, Wen Ran smiled tenderly at him and looked up at Gu Kai.

Gu Kai was playing with Momo, and upon hearing Wen Ran’s words, he didn’t even look up, smiling as he replied, “I’ve had so many surgeries these past few days, I barely have time to eat, let alone see Tongtong.”

Seeing Tongtong was not as easy as seeing Momo and Ziyi; he had to go in person.

During work hours, he was swamped, and after work, he was with Fang Zhiwei. He had not even given Tongtong the gifts he bought for her abroad.

“When are you going to change Tongtong’s surname?”

Wen Ran blinked her eyes, curiously asking.

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes deepened, and he remained silent, just quietly watching Wen Ran.

“I’ll find some time in the next couple of days, and also see if Bai Yiyi is available.”

“Momo is getting sleepy, let the nurse take her back to the nursery,” Mo Xiuchen said with concern, seeing his daughter yawn.

“I’ll take Momo back.” Fang Zhiwei didn’t want to hear any more of Wen Ran’s questions to Gu Kai about Bai Yiyi. As she spoke, she reached over and took Momo in her arms.

With Momo in her arms, Fang Zhiwei left the ward. Wen Ran asked seemingly nonchalantly, “Brother, did you tell Sister Wei what conditions you proposed to Yiyi?”

Gu Kai was taken aback, then after regaining his composure, he shook his head and said, “I didn’t tell her. She knows?”

“Mm, I don’t know where Sister Wei heard it from,” Wen Ran pursed her lips, looking perplexed at Gu Kai. “Brother, why did you want Yiyi to agree to never marry anyone in her lifetime?”

Gu Kai raised an eyebrow indifferently, “She needs to raise Tongtong wholeheartedly. If she gets married and has more children, what if it’s not good for Tongtong?”

Wen Ran’s lips twitched, “Brother, Yiyi actually never thought about getting married anyway. Because of her parents’ issues, she doesn’t trust men, so, she always thought having Tongtong was enough.”

“Did she tell you that?”

Gu Kai frowned, recalling the scene when Bai Yiyi readily agreed.

No wonder!

“Mm, but, Sister Wei thinks you’re being a bit too harsh on Yiyi, and she asked me to persuade you to withdraw that condition.”

Wen Ran’s lips curled into a teasing smile, “Brother, you think Yiyi won’t marry forever, for Tongtong’s sake, and Yiyi herself thinks having Tongtong by her side is enough. But now the problem is, Sister Wei is worried. What should we do?”

“What is she worried about?”

Gu Kai’s brows furrowed with displeasure, “Why didn’t she speak to me herself?”

“This kind of matter, how could she easily speak to you? You now know about Tongtong’s background, and Yiyi has agreed to let Tongtong take your surname. Why not let this go and withdraw your condition? If you and Yiyi are always at odds, the one who gets hurt will be Tongtong,” said Wen Ran carefully observing Gu Kai’s reaction.

Mo Xiuchen chuckled lightly, “Ah Kai, Ranran is right. Even though Bai Yiyi is Fu Jingyi’s daughter, you have no reason to hold the grudges of the past generation against her, especially since she’s also your daughter’s mother.”

Gu Kai snorted coldly, choosing not to respond.

“The most important thing is, don’t let Bai Yiyi affect you and Fang Zhiwei, giving her insecurity.”
