Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1094: 1093 Not allowed to call the police

Mo Xiuchen hung up the phone and said to the special nursing assistant, “Go back to the nursery and check again. It’s bath time now, isn’t it? Could another nurse be bathing Momo?”

“Mo Xiuchen, could something have happened to Momo? Quick, call my brother and have him check with the security room.”

The internet was rife with news about child traffickers. There had been numerous cases of children being abducted from hospitals.

“Ranran, don’t worry. Momo definitely won’t go missing.”

The special nursing assistant had barely taken two steps before Wen Ran stopped her again, “Leave Ziyi here with me, and go look for Momo.”

“Miss Wen, you…”

Looking worriedly at Mo Xiuchen, the special nursing assistant knew it would be fine if Wen Ran was in good shape to take care of Ziyi, but she had just had surgery a few days ago and couldn’t possibly hold Ziyi.

It was not too good to leave Ziyi here, especially with Wen Ran being emotionally agitated because of Momo.

“Give him to me, and you go find Momo.”

Seeing that Wen Ran was uneasy about the special nursing assistant taking Ziyi away, Mo Xiuchen had no choice but to hold him again. He made a phone call that was answered by Gu Kai, and with a grave voice, Mo Xiuchen said, “Ah Kai, immediately have security lock down the hospital exits. Momo is not in the nursery.”

“Didn’t Fang Zhiwei return Momo to the nursery?”

“Momo is not in the nursery.”

“Alright, I’ll have someone lock down the hospital exits right away. Tell Ranran not to panic.” Gu Kai’s voice carried a hint of solemnity. After speaking, he immediately ended the call.

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed in the hallway—it was Fang Zhiwei running toward them.

As she pushed open the door, she said, “I had already returned Momo a while ago. The nurse even said she was going to take Momo to bathe. How can you say she’s not in the nursery?”

“Did you actually bring her to the nursery, or did you hand her over to someone else?”

Mo Xiuchen’s expression darkened, and without waiting for Fang Zhiwei to finish speaking, he said, “Come on, you’re coming with me to check it out now.”

As he finished speaking, he turned to Wen Ran and said, “Ranran, I’m going to the nursery to check. Wait here for me. I’ll be back very soon.”

“Give me the phone.”

Wen Ran’s eyes were a bit red, and the uneasiness in her heart spread rapidly like a black hole, seemingly capable of engulfing her at any moment.

“Alright, call me if anything happens.”

Mo Xiuchen handed her the phone, pursed his lips, glanced at Fang Zhiwei, and quickly left the ward.

Fang Zhiwei followed behind Mo Xiuchen out of the ward, explaining, “I ran into a nurse at the corner of the corridor. Momo seemed like she was about to cry. The nurse said crying was bad for the baby’s health and asked me to hand her over. She said she was going to bathe the baby in a while.”

Mo Xiuchen abruptly stopped in his tracks, his gaze sharp as he looked at Fang Zhiwei, “So, you didn’t take Momo back to the nursery, and you handed her over to a nurse on the way?”

Fang Zhiwei trembled under his piercing gaze, her face instantly pale, “She’s a nurse and recognized me, so I handed Momo to her.”

Mo Xiuchen gave her a piercing look, “You’d better pray nothing has happened to Momo.”

After saying that, he quickened his pace toward the nursery.

Fang Zhiwei’s face changed several shades, and it wasn’t until Mo Xiuchen was a few meters away that she was jolted back to reality by the ringing of her phone.

“Hello, Ah Kai.”

Fang Zhiwei’s voice trembled as she answered the phone.

“Great job you did, Momo has been taken away.”

On the phone, Gu Kai’s voice was filled with a murderous rage that, through the waves, struck her heart like a piercing arrow. Fang Zhiwei’s body swayed heavily, and all color drained from her face.

**

In the ward.

Wen Ran lay alone on the hospital bed, completely enveloped in deep anxiety.

Suddenly, the shrill ring of a cell phone erupted.

The incoming call had no displayed number and no name.

Wen Ran’s heart raced with a thought as she hastily answered, “Hello!”

“Wen Ran, if you don’t want your daughter to die, don’t call the police or let anyone track us.”

Wen Ran’s body trembled, and she asked angrily, “Who are you, and where have you taken my daughter?”

“Your daughter is adorable. Remember, no police, no tracking. Tomorrow, at this time, I will call you again. Otherwise, be ready to collect your daughter’s corpse.”

“Don’t you dare hurt my daughter…”

Wen Ran’s words were cut off as the phone was abruptly hung up.

A wave of intense grief overwhelmed her. She felt the taste of blood in her throat, subconsciously tightened her lips to hold back the taste, but tears unbidden streamed down her face.

Gu Kai pushed the door open and saw Wen Ran collapsed on the ground, clutching her abdomen tightly. His face went pale as he exclaimed, “Ranran, what’s happened to you?”

“Brother.”

Wen Ran lifted her head, saw Gu Kai running over, and her tears flowed even more fiercely.

Gu Kai bent down to help her up from the ground. “Ranran, get into bed. Did your wound open up?”

“Brother, Momo has been taken.”

Wen Ran disregarded the pain of her own wounds as her face turned ashen, tears of sorrow falling ceaselessly.

Gu Kai stiffened, consoling in a soft voice, “Ranran, don’t panic. Maybe Momo is still in the hospital, perhaps taken for a bath by the nurses.”

“Brother, I just received a call. They said, if we dare to call the police or investigate further, then…”

Wen Ran couldn’t finish her sentence.

The thought of that phone call made her heart ache as though it was being sliced with a knife.

Even breathing hurt.

Gu Kai’s face changed, and he said firmly, “Ranran, get into bed. No matter what happens, you cannot treat yourself this way, lie down on the bed.”

He had just received a call from Mo Xiuchen and immediately checked the surveillance footage. Indeed, he saw Momo being carried out of the hospital; he recognized the bracelet on Momo’s wrist that he had put on her.

“…”

Wen Ran bit her lip, her vision blurry. She could not see Gu Kai’s stern and pained expression clearly, she only knew that she felt terrible, anxious, and frightened.

She didn’t know what to do.

They had forbidden her from calling the police, from having anyone follow.

But she could not stand by as someone took away Momo, her daughter…

“Good girl, Ranran, lie down on the bed. Mo Xiuchen and I will figure something out; we will definitely rescue Momo.”

Gu Kai wiped away Wen Ran’s tears, forcibly picked her up, and placed her on the bed. He instructed firmly, “Stay lying down; don’t get up. I’m going to find Mo Xiuchen.”

Before leaving, Gu Kai pressed the call button next to the bed.

As he reached the door, Gu Kai saw Mo Xiuchen coming from the end of the corridor, and he quickly approached him, “Mo Xiuchen, Momo has been taken; she left the hospital half an hour ago.”

Mo Xiuchen was still holding Ziyi in his arms.

Hearing Gu Kai’s words, a flicker of pain crossed his eyes, and he tightened his grip on Ziyi, asking subconsciously, “Does Ranran know?”

Gu Kai’s face changed, and he spoke curtly, “Ranran knows; she just told me. She received a call warning her not to call the police, not to follow, or else…”

A wash of pallor spread over Mo Xiuchen’s brooding face.
