Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1059: 1058 Have you ever had

“Ranran, you’re here too?”

Aunt Bai saw Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen, her emotions somewhat stirred.

Wen Ran glanced at Gu Kai, who was holding Tongtong, and gently comforted her, “Aunt Bai, don’t worry, Tongtong will be okay.”

She hadn’t seen how seriously Tongtong’s eyes were injured, but she instinctively wanted to soothe the elderly lady’s nerves.

“It’s all my fault. That boy was shooting guns in the park, I should have carried Tongtong away. Why did I even take that phone call… Now Tongtong’s eyes are hurt…”

As Wen Ran listened to Aunt Bai’s self-reproach, she didn’t know how to comfort her. Seeing Gu Kai and the opthalmologist carry Tongtong into the elevator, she quickly said, “Aunt Bai, don’t blame yourself. Let’s go see how Tongtong is doing first.”

Perhaps when the ‘bullet’ headed towards her eye, out of instinct, Tongtong closed her eyes.

The examination results showed that there was only a minor injury to the iris.

When Bai Yiyi and Wen Jin arrived at the hospital, the scene they encountered was rather eerie.

In the opthalmology ward, there was Gu Kai, a grown man, sitting on the edge of the hospital bed holding Tongtong, and oddly, the scene did not feel out of place.

“How is Tongtong? Are her eye injuries serious?”

Bai Yiyi saw her mother with red eyes, a face filled with sadness and self-reproach, glanced at Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran, then rushed to the bed, reaching out to take Tongtong from Gu Kai’s arms.

“She just fell asleep. Keep your voice down, don’t wake her up.”

Gu Kai’s handsome eyebrows furrowed slightly, and he raised a hand in front of him to stop Bai Yiyi from taking Tongtong. His gaze lowered back to the few-months-old Tongtong cradled in his arms.

Bai Yiyi’s expression changed, and her outstretched hand froze in mid-air.

At this moment, her mother’s voice came from behind, “Yiyi, Tongtong was crying so much during the check-up that even the nurses couldn’t calm her down. It was thanks to Doctor Gu that she stopped crying.”

Upon hearing this, Bai Yiyi felt an inexplicable twinge in her heart.

She let her hand, previously suspended in mid-air, fall back to her side. Looking at Gu Kai holding her daughter, her hands involuntarily clenched into fists again, “Are Yiyi’s eyes very badly hurt?”

“From what we can tell so far, there’s a slight injury to the iris. She needs to be hospitalized, and since Tongtong is so young, it’s best not to let her cry.”

Gu Kai’s tone was serious, and his words caused Bai Yiyi’s heart to suddenly clench. Nearby, Wen Ran came over and softly consoled, “Yiyi, don’t worry too much. Tongtong’s eye injury isn’t too serious. Brother, don’t look so stern; you’re scaring Yiyi.”

“I didn’t mean to frighten her. I’m just telling her that in this situation, it’s best if she, as a mother, stays with her. Try to keep her from crying and fussing, as it will help her eyes recover.”

Gu Kai’s tone was significantly gentler when he explained this to Wen Ran.

Hearing this, Wen Jin immediately said, “Yiyi, don’t go to work for the next few days, focus on taking good care of Tongtong.”

“Thank you.”

Bai Yiyi turned to thank Wen Jin, then said to Gu Kai, “Give me Tongtong. I’m her mother. If I hold her, she won’t cry.”

Gu Kai frowned slightly, gesturing for her to sit down beside him. Bai Yiyi followed his directions, pulling a chair over to sit. Only then did Gu Kai carefully hand Tongtong over to her.

“Be slow, don’t bump into the needle in her hand.”

As Bai Yiyi reached out to hold Tongtong, Gu Kai quietly reminded her, evidently concerned about waking the finally slumbering Tongtong. He lowered his voice even more, and his partially bent posture brought his handsome face in front of Bai Yiyi, his male scent enveloping her nostrils.

Subconsciously, Bai Yiyi lowered her gaze and held her breath, trying not to let her emotions be disturbed by his presence.

Doctor Gu placed Tongtong into her arms and asked in a low voice, “Is it okay to hold her like this after her IV is done?”

“No problem.”

Bai Yiyi’s gaze was downcast, and she didn’t look up at him.

“That’s good. Remember, don’t let Tongtong cry. If she wakes up, just feed her…”

He didn’t finish the last few words.

But Bai Yiyi felt her face heating up. She suddenly raised her head that had been bowed, “You can go. I won’t let Tongtong cry.”

As soon as she said it, Doctor Gu’s handsome face turned even more somber. He held back his displeasure in front of everyone. He turned to Wen Ran and said, “Ranran, come to my office. You’ve been standing for so long; you must be tired. Rest a bit in my office.”

Mo Xiuchen’s narrow eyes twinkled, the corners of his mouth lifted in a gentle curve as he said, “Ranran, let’s go.”

Wen Ran gave Bai Yiyi a reassuring look and left the ward with Mo Xiuchen.

Wen Jin told Bai Yiyi to take care of her daughter with peace of mind and also left the ward. The group walked to the elevator and ran into Li En who was just coming out.

Doctor Gu was in the lead and bumped right into Li En.

Ever since that time at the restaurant two months ago, Doctor Gu hadn’t seen Bai Yiyi or Li En. Now, the moment their eyes met, Li En’s gaze turned icy cold.

Doctor Gu’s eyes darkened and, without paying Li En any attention, he strode into the elevator.

Back in Doctor Gu’s office, Mo Xiuchen said thoughtfully, “Ah Kai, the way Li En looked at you was like she saw you as a rival in love. You and Bai Yiyi wouldn’t have had a secret past, would you?”

“Xiuchen, now that you mention it, I feel it too,” Wen Ran said with a slight smile, her probing eyes on Doctor Gu who was drinking water, “Brother, your conversation with Yiyi just now felt like between a husband and wife, especially when you handed Tongtong over to Yiyi…”

“Cough…”

Doctor Gu choked on his water, coughing and glaring at Wen Ran.

Yet, in his heart, an indescribable emotion rose. He envisioned Tongtong’s little face, and no matter what, it felt incredibly familiar.

Seeing Tongtong cry actually made him feel uncomfortable.

“Brother, every time Yiyi is mentioned, you choke. Could it really be true?”

Wen Ran used to suspect that Doctor Gu and Bai Yiyi had something between them, but then Fang Zhiwei came along, and she tried her best not to let her imagination run wild.

Yet just now, seeing Doctor Gu cajoling Tongtong, Wen Ran truly felt something odd.

“How could that be possible?” Doctor Gu retorted irritably, pursing his lips. Seeing the three of them still staring at him, he sat down heavily on the sofa and said coldly, “Haven’t you considered that maybe Bai Yiyi has slept with too many men, which is why she doesn’t know who her daughter’s father is?”

“Brother, how could that be possible.”

Wen Ran rebutted first.

Beside her, Mo Xiuchen’s lips twitched. He soothingly patted Wen Ran’s head and said in a deep voice, “Ah Kai, tell us honestly, have you ever slept with Bai Yiyi?”

“You’re too direct.”

Wen Jin rolled her eyes; the conversation was polluting her ears.

“…”

Doctor Gu was about to speak when his cell phone in his pocket suddenly rang.
