Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1054: 1053 Apologies

“Your assurance is invalid.”

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes narrowed sharply. Li En’s behavior that afternoon had reignited his suspicions.

He had decided to get a DNA test done to clarify whether Bai Yiyi’s daughter was related to him or not, to avoid Li En causing more trouble next time.

Bai Yiyi used her anger to cover up her guilt, “Gu Kai, you have no right to conduct a DNA test on my daughter. I told you before, there is no connection between Tongtong and you. Moreover, I keep my word and I won’t let Li En bother you again.”

What a joke, asking him to do a DNA test?

If the test showed Tongtong was related to him, what would he do if he had to fight her for custody? Tongtong was the child she had carried for ten months and given birth to with difficulty; she would never allow Gu Kai to fight her for her daughter.

“Why should I believe you?”

Gu Kai leaned back into the sofa, lifted a cup of coffee with one hand, sipped gently, then put it down.

“I keep my promises. Even if you don’t trust me, you should consider your own situation. If you really make a big deal out of this, Miss Fang will definitely get hurt. Gu Kai, I don’t want to involve anyone else because of what happened that night, and I certainly don’t want to be the culprit who ruins your relationship with Miss Fang.”

“Li En’s behavior this afternoon has already caused Zhi Wei to misunderstand.”

Gu Kai’s tone was thick with displeasure.

Bai Yiyi quickly said, “I can explain to Miss Fang.”

“How will you explain? Tell Zhi Wei that you and I had a one-night stand?”

Gu Kai was somewhat aggressive, and the more Bai Yiyi refused, the deeper his doubts grew.

“Of course not. I’ll just tell her the truth, that you hate me because my father hurt your sister.”

“Fine.”

One second he was talking about a DNA test, and the next, upon Bai Yiyi mentioning her father, Fu Jingyi, Gu Kai suddenly agreed to her proposal to explain to Fang Zhi Wei, “Then you go clarify it yourself.”

Hearing the beep from the phone, Bai Yiyi breathed a long sigh of relief.

She knew that Gu Kai had changed his mind because she mentioned her father.

The next day, Bai Yiyi called Wen Ran to ask for Fang Zhi Wei’s phone number.

“Ranran, I promised your brother yesterday that I’d explain the misunderstanding to Miss Fang personally. Could you give me her phone number?”

When Bai Yiyi called, Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen had just arrived at their country villa and had not even gotten out of the car.

“Yiyi, my brother asked you to explain things to Sister Wei?”

Wen Ran asked, puzzled.

“Yes, your brother said Miss Fang misunderstood, and he asked me to explain it to her. It’s my responsibility to clarify things.”

Listening to Bai Yiyi’s sincere words, Wen Ran’s eyes flickered, “Yiyi, Sister Wei is not so petty. You and my brother have nothing between you, why would she be angry?”

“I’d still like to explain it, just to prevent any real misunderstanding between your brother and Fang Zhi Wei, and them blaming me.”

Bai Yiyi did not want to hear Gu Kai’s sharp and harsh words anymore.

“Okay, I’ll send Sister Wei’s number to your phone, and you can contact her.”

After hanging up, Wen Ran sent Fang Zhi Wei’s number to Bai Yiyi. Outside the car, Mo Xiuchen had already opened the door for her, standing upright a few steps away.

“Ranran, what did Bai Yiyi call you for?”

Once inside the villa, Mo Xiuchen asked Wen Ran to sit on the sofa while he washed a plate of fruit and placed it on the coffee table before sitting down next to her and casually asking,

Wen Ran ate the fruit he fed her and said gently, “Yiyi asked me for Sister Wei’s number, saying it was my brother’s idea. Sister Wei misunderstood and asked her to explain.”

“Really?”

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes narrowed slightly, and a hint of amusement curved his lips, “Such behavior from Ah Kai makes it seem like his relationship with Bai Yiyi is closer than with Fang Zhiwei. His girlfriend misunderstood, yet she lets Bai Yiyi do the explaining. Logically, either he himself or Li En should be the ones to clarify.”

“I think it’s okay. Li En got physical with my brother yesterday because of Yiyi. If Sister Wei really misunderstood, and is upset with my brother, it isn’t wrong for Yiyi to explain.” Wen Ran’s brows furrowed slightly and she paused, “But did Sister Wei get angry yesterday?”

“No, at most she might have some wild thoughts, but it’s not even a real misunderstanding.”

Mo Xiuchen said gently, “Fang Zhiwei likes Ah Kai, and as far as I can see, Ah Kai is merely polite towards her. Being the person involved, she surely knows better than anyone; she wouldn’t misunderstand Ah Kai because of Li En’s words, let alone get angry.”

Ever since Fang Zhiwei told Ranran that she liked Gu Kai, and through several interactions, Mo Xiuchen had concluded that Fang Zhiwei was a smart woman.

Being a smart woman, she knew what to be concerned about and what not to.

“Let’s drop it, it’s my brother’s issue, and he’ll handle it.”

Wen Ran frowned slightly and waved her hand in irritation.

Mo Xiuchen chuckled softly and said indulgently, “Come on, let’s go pick plums. It’s okay if you don’t understand now; Ah Kai will make it clear to us.”

“Okay.”

Wen Ran nodded with a smile, here to spend time alone with Mo Xiuchen.

G City

When Bai Yiyi called Fang Zhiwei, she was with Gu Kai.

Gu Kai was a busy man who had to perform surgeries even on weekends. Embodying the spirit of a good girlfriend, Fang Zhiwei made soup and brought it to the hospital.

She waited in his office for half an hour before Gu Kai, who had just finished a surgery, returned.

The phone rang. Fang Zhiwei handed the prepared soup to Gu Kai and pulled out her phone. Seeing a string of unfamiliar numbers, she blinked and answered, “Hello, this is Fang Zhiwei speaking.”

“Miss Fang, this is Bai Yiyi.”

The voice that reached her ear made Fang Zhiwei flash a moment of surprise as her gaze instinctively turned towards Gu Kai.

Noticing Fang Zhiwei looking his way, Gu Kai’s gaze flickered slightly as he continued sipping his soup.

“Miss Bai, is there something you need?”

Fang Zhiwei redirected her attention before politely asking.

“I wanted to explain something about yesterday afternoon.”

Over the phone, Bai Yiyi’s voice carried a hint of apology, “My friend had some misunderstanding towards Gu Kai because of past grievances between our older generations.”

Fang Zhiwei smiled faintly, “Miss Bai, there’s no need for explanations. I didn’t misunderstand anything. Just clarify things with your friend and ensure such incidents don’t happen again. I accept your apology since your friend indeed nearly hurt Ah Kai yesterday.”

“Don’t worry, there won’t be a next time.”

Bai Yiyi pursed her lips, her tone resolute.

After hanging up, Fang Zhiwei proactively told Gu Kai, “It was Miss Bai on the phone. She said her friend behaved that way yesterday because of some misunderstanding towards you, and she asked me to convey her apologies.”

Having finished the small bowl of soup she had served, Gu Kai placed the bowl on the coffee table, drew a paper napkin to dab the corners of his mouth, and replied casually, his tall figure leaning lazily back into the sofa.
