Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2589: Chapter 2590: Ning Yu’s Ordeal

”It’s a ninja!” someone shouted.

Zhitian moved swiftly, dashing forward in a flash, and threw something from his hand. A scream was heard as the opponent fell to the ground.

Zhitian wiped the sweat from his forehead, thankful he’d used the Yin Yang Binding Spell taught by the Master Astrologer earlier when he’d held the person down. As long as they didn’t escape a certain range, he could injure them with the curse in his hand.

But when Zhitian rushed over to grab the person, his face darkened.

The opponent was already dead, having bitten through a poison capsule in their mouth!

The guard who followed was shocked, saying, ”This isn’t just a ninja, it’s a death ninja. How did this person infiltrate our group?”

Others didn’t know either, only that he hadn’t been around long and seemed perfectly normal, not like a ninja at all.

”Master Zhitian, what do we do now that he’s dead?” two guards asked worriedly.

Zhitian sighed, ”I’ll go and apologize to the Master with our failure.”

He instructed the two to take the body back and watch over it, while he got on his horse and hurried to catch up with the Astrologer’s group.

By the time Zhitian caught up with the Astrologer’s party, they had already captured Xinghai.

Xinghai was like a captured wild wolf, a fierce glint in his eyes, but when Bai Ruozhu approached, his ferocity faded.

He knew he couldn’t have feelings for this woman in front of him. He had someone he loved dearly, and for her, he would sacrifice everything.

But why did he feel such a sense of familiarity with this woman, like she was family?

Bai Ruozhu reached out to remove his mask, but he instinctively turned his head aside, and her eyes reddened with tears.

”Senior brother, I should have known it was you. Before the National Master passed away, he said you were simple-minded and hoped I could look after you. But then the political turmoil led us to lose contact; it’s my fault for not fulfilling the National Master’s wishes,” Bai Ruozhu said as tears streamed down her face. ”I can’t believe you’ve become like this.”

Seeing her tears, Xinghai was momentarily stunned and forgot to avoid her; Bai Ruozhu reached out and took off his mask.

She took a handkerchief and wiped his face. The disguise was removed, revealing a handsome and sunny face, almost identical to the Astrologer’s.

The other subordinates of the Astrologer were dumbfounded; this person looked exactly like their Patriarch!

”Senior brother, it really is you. But why can’t you remember me?” Bai Ruozhu said as she took his pulse. Xinghai—or more appropriately, Ning Yu—tried to break free, but bound as he was, he could only let Bai Ruozhu do as she pleased.

Bai Ruozhu furrowed her brow, and Jiang Yichun, who was beside them, asked worriedly, ”What’s wrong?”

”He doesn’t seem to be under a curse technique, nor is he poisoned, but it seems like there are Poisonous Insects in him,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Gao Zhou hurried over, ”Let me take a look.”

The Astrologer, feeling nervous, checked as well and couldn’t help but ask, ”Brother, aren’t you curious why you look almost identical to me? Who did this to you? Did they make you steal the Astrologer Family treasure? You should know that only a drop of blood from the direct lineage can open it. Now, only you and I are left of the Astrologer’s direct lineage!”

Confusion appeared in Ning Yu’s eyes. That person had said he originally didn’t look like this, but due to facial disfigurement, this is how he appeared after treatment.

He also said how similar he looked to the Astrologer Patriarch was to facilitate the theft of something from the Astrologer Family, so he must never show his face meeting the Astrologer.

But what were they talking about? Could it be this was his real face all along?

”You’re mistaken. I’m not the person you think I am. I was disfigured in an injury and made to look like the Astrologer to make it easier to steal the Astrologer Family treasure,” Ning Yu said.

”The person who told you this was lying! Do you still remember the woman you love, with her white hair, named Diao Bin?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Ning Yu’s face instantly changed, ”How do you know?”

”I’m your junior sister, and I was the matchmaker between you and Diao Bin. How could I not know?” Bai Ruozhu felt a little comforted at this, at least he remembered Diao Bin. ”Do you know where Diao Bin is? We came specifically to find you both.”

The mention of Diao Bin softened Ning Yu’s guard, and with a dejected look, he said, ”She was captured by that person who threatened me to steal the Astrologer Family treasure, or else they would kill her. I couldn’t outmatch that person and haven’t been able to rescue her yet.”

Anger surged among everyone present; someone was manipulating Ning Yu through Diao Bin, and who knew what hardships the two had endured.

”We will help you rescue her, but you must tell me what happened. I’m your junior sister Bai Ruozhu; I won’t harm you,” Bai Ruozhu said seriously, enunciating each word.

The name Bai Ruozhu sounded so familiar to Ning Yu that his guarded expression faded, and he finally began to speak.

”I was severely injured, saved by that person. I don’t know his name and never saw his face, just remember his voice. He said I was disfigured, and he gave me a face like the Astrologer Patriarch’s to help him steal the Astrologer Family treasure. If I didn’t comply, he would kill Diao Bin.”

Ning Yu furrowed his brows, ”I don’t feel like I’ve forgotten anything, but it all seems peculiar. I do remember loving Diao Bin deeply, so I had to agree to his demands.”

As he spoke, his voice choked up, ”I tried to resist before, and he broke one of Diao Bin’s little fingers.”

Bai Ruozhu covered her mouth; Diao Bin, a pampered princess, had already suffered so much out there, and now her finger had been broken. The pain must’ve been unbearable.

Jiang Yichun’s eyes flashed with Cold Light. He had known Diao Bin since childhood, like his little sister, and hearing of her suffering made him want to kill the mastermind behind it all.

”What else did that person do to you?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”He threatened me with Diao Bin and made me swallow a pill, saying if I betrayed him, I would die of poison,” Ning Yu said.

Bai Ruozhu’s heart tightened, quickly summoning Furball to examine Ning Yu’s body, only to remember that after facing off against Anben, Furball used the Illusory Realm and fell into a deep sleep, yet to awaken.

”He likely gave you Poisonous Insects, but don’t worry, we’ll find a way to dispel it,” Bai Ruozhu reassured him. Once Furball woke, she’d have it check if it could devour the Poisonous Insect.

”I’m okay; I just want to rescue Diao Bin as soon as possible, so I can’t return this thing to you,” Ning Yu said, instinctively glancing down at his chest.

In fact, the Astrologer had already noticed the item, but he hadn’t taken it from Ning Yu’s chest because he cared more about his brother.

”If the other party is insidious and ruthless, do you think he’ll really free you and Diao Bin after getting what he wants? He’ll likely silence all involved,” Jiang Yichun said.

Ning Yu’s face darkened, almost dripping water. ”But I can’t disobey, or he’ll continue to harm Diao Bin. He said the next time it’d be her ear.”
