Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2553: Chapter 2554: Willing to Be Beaten

Luan Xin paused for a moment and then said, ”I’m not sick.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”I can see that.”

”He doesn’t want me to eat vegetarian and chant Buddha, he wants me to study and become an officer, to inherit the family business.” Luan Xin sighed, ”There’s no way around it, he’ll just have to be disappointed.”

Bai Ruozhu saw the untouched food on the table and asked angrily, ”Is he forcing you to eat meat?”

”No matter, I just won’t eat it.” Luan Xin replied calmly.

Bai Ruozhu got anxious, ”Your health was poor to begin with, you need to take good care of yourself. If you don’t eat, how can you hold up? You’re different from before, now is the time for growing!”

Master Pudeng used to be an ascetic monk, he’s accustomed to hardship, but does he even consider whether he’s the same as before?

Before becoming a Buddha, he’s already damaging his health, how can he complete his merit if he doesn’t live long?

Luan Xin sighed, ”It’s the test I must go through.”

Bai Ruozhu thought about it, then took out some things from Space, finding some Dry Cakes and Steamed Buns, stuffing them to Luan Xin, ”Hide these well, eat them when you’re hungry, and I’ll bring more when you finish.”

”Thank you.” Luan Xin said sincerely, then hid the dried food away.

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but sigh. Just eating dried food isn’t nutritious enough, yet if you ask Luan Xin to eat meat, he absolutely refuses.

Unexpectedly, footsteps were heard from outside, Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun exchanged glances and quickly hid.

Soon, someone walked in, it was Luan Xin’s father.

He looked at the food on the table and said somewhat helplessly, ”Ah, why aren’t you eating again? You’ll get sick this way.”

”Father, as long as you send me vegetarian food, I naturally won’t get sick.” Luan Xin answered calmly, truly having no father-son feelings for the man before him.

”Fine, do as you wish, as long as you live safely, I’m satisfied.” Luan Xin’s father said very sadly, seeming to age a few years in an instant.

Luan Xin felt a hint of compassion, ”Thank you for understanding, Father.”

”Have some Bean cake, I’ll have someone bring you vegetarian food later.” Luan Xin’s father had the maid serve some Bean cakes.

This time Luan Xin didn’t refuse, he thanked him and took a Bean cake and started eating.

Bai Ruozhu, hiding in the shadows, clearly saw Luan Xin’s father’s eyes light up, realizing immediately that there was something wrong with the Bean cakes, but right now she couldn’t stop him, not to mention Luan Xin had already eaten it.

Sure enough, after seeing Luan Xin eat a Bean cake, his father laughed loudly and said, ”Do you know what these Bean cakes are made of?”

Luan Xin’s expression was calm, seemingly having guessed, but not revealing the annoyance and shock his father expected.

Seeing him like this, Luan Xin’s father could only say to himself, ”They’re made with Pork, even had some finely minced meat added, did you notice?”

”No.” Luan Xin’s expression remained peaceful.

”Hahaha, now that you’ve eaten meat, broken the vegetarian vow, you no longer need to eat vegetarian and chant Buddha.” He laughed loudly.

Luan Xin placed his hands together, ”Amitabha, Buddha resides in the heart, as long as I wholeheartedly observe the vows.”

”You’ve eaten meat, broken the vow, how can you still become a monk?” Luan Xin’s father’s face changed drastically, laughing wildly just moments ago, now switching to rage.

”At such a young age, you’ve chosen poorly, insisting on being a monk, have you thought of the family, how can you be so unfilial?”

Luan Xin remained calm, ”It’s me who’s unfilial, disappointing Father. There are siblings who can carry on the family line, and Father is in his prime, it’s not impossible to have more children. Luan Xin grew up in Buddhism, with only Buddha in his heart, unable to set aside anything else.”

”You, you unfilial child, see if I don’t beat you to death!” Luan Xin’s father charged at him, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t bear it, but was held tightly by Jiang Yichun.

Thankfully the accompanying maid hurried to hold back Luan Xin’s father, speaking and persuading to take him away.

Jiang Yichun squeezed Bai Ruozhu’s hand, saying, ”This is the ordeal he must go through, haven’t you noticed he’s willing to be beaten?”

”You see it clearly.” Bai Ruozhu felt a bit disheartened, Luan Xin appeared calm, but surely felt guilty inside? So he’s willing to be beaten to repay his biological father.

But what wrong has he done? He’s not the original Luan Xin, nor is he this man’s son. Not to mention the original Luan Xin suffered these Tribulations because of his father’s concubine, dying young in the temple.

”You two can go back, don’t worry about me.” Luan Xin said towards the direction where the two were hiding.

Bai Ruozhu left some Trauma Medicine before leaving with Jiang Yichun.

They hadn’t been back at the Posthouse long when a young monk from Zhaoti Temple came to Bai Ruozhu, saying, ”Bai Sir, the abbot sent me to convey a message, saying you guessed right.”

”Alright, I understand, thank you.”

The young monk, evidently unaware of what Pu Ru meant by ”guessed right,” looked curiously at Bai Ruozhu’s reaction after speaking, but Bai Ruozhu didn’t reveal a thing, so he had to suppress his curiosity and take his leave.

After two days, Bai Ruozhu secretly sent some dried food and vegetarian dishes to Luan Xin again, Luan Xin appeared in good spirits, suggesting his father hadn’t troubled him further.

On the third day, Yaxi approached Bai Ruozhu, saying, ”Recently, a merchant in the Capital adopted a foster daughter, reportedly with white hair, and the merchant had someone examine her.”

Merchant, white-haired foster daughter? Bai Ruozhu suddenly became excited, perhaps it’s really Diao Bin!

”Where is she, I’ll go take a look.” she said.

Jiang Yichun had gone to attend Divine Sect matters, while Bai Ruozhu took Jianqi and Tang Feng, following Yaxi out.

Bai Ruozhu was the first to board the horse carriage, Yaxi followed behind, somehow stepping on her skirt hem, causing her to trip and fall.

Bai Ruozhu hurried to help, but the carriage made movement difficult, just a step too slow, Tang Feng from outside reached out to catch Yaxi.

”Thank you, Sir Tang.” Yaxi blushed, quickly steadying herself.

Tang Feng immediately let go, politely stepped back, nodding to her saying, ”No need to thank me.”

Yaxi was more careful this time, once seated inside the carriage, she saw Bai Ruozhu grinning mischievously at her.

”I nearly fell, and you’re laughing at me.” Yaxi glared in mock anger.

Bai Ruozhu chuckled twice, ”Your face turned red.”

”I embarrassed myself publicly, of course I’d blush.” Yaxi hurriedly defended.

”Is that so?” Bai Ruozhu teased, raising an eyebrow, Yaxi’s face reddened further but she stayed silent, so Bai Ruozhu didn’t continue teasing.

With Yaxi guiding them, the horse carriage soon reached the area where the merchant lived.

As it was in the neighborhood, the horse carriage couldn’t go in, Bai Ruozhu and Yaxi alighted, accompanied by Jianqi and Tang Feng as they walked over, unexpectedly hearing shouts and fighting sounds not far into the neighborhood.
