Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2573: Chapter 2574: Full Cooperation

”Your Majesty, we are in a weak position now. Is there a risk of turning against General Chisong, or clashing directly with the Anben faction?” Otani asked worriedly.

The Emperor shook his head, ”The Royal Family has little military force. Even if we don’t face them now, they will eventually swallow us. Besides, Bai Ruozhu and their group saved Cilang’s life; they have done a great favor to the Imperial family, and I am not someone who forgets loyalty and righteousness.”

”Your Majesty...” Otani felt a bit uneasy. Their Emperor valued sentiment too much, always being used by others. However, it was also why his subordinates respected him deeply.

”Go, ask them what their intentions are. I will fully cooperate with them.” The Emperor waved his hand, signaling Otani to leave first.

On the other side, She Zongyi had already received all the information. He asked in surprise, ”Was it really Anben?”

”Yes, Lord, it has been confirmed without a doubt,” replied his subordinates.

”I never expected it to be him. I thought the Crown Prince might have experts behind him, or General Chisong was secretly assisting him, yet it turns out to be that bookish fool. He truly deceived me all these years,” She Zongyi remarked with some emotions.

”The spy heard he is the legitimate son of the former Emperor, framed by the biological mother of the previous Emperor and expelled from the Palace.”

She Zongyi laughed, ”Oh? That’s quite interesting. Never mind, let them fight amongst themselves first. In the end, we’ll clean up the mess.”

”Master, those people from Zhongyuan are truly abhorrent. Shouldn’t we take this chance to eliminate them?” asked a subordinate.

”Do you think those Zhongyuan people are so easily eliminated? Moreover, even if they don’t die, they will eventually leave Fusang. The real threat is Anben, or rather, the Crown Prince,” She Zongyi squinted his eyes.

She Zongyi harbored hatred towards Bai Ruozhu and their group, but as a politician, he had to weigh the pros and cons.

At the Posthouse, before Otani could arrive, the Astrologer had already found a way to sneak into the place, and smoothly asked Yuan Licheng to let him in.

”What’s going on? Do you need my help? Although I don’t have an army under me, I do have some influence to protect you for a while,” the Astrologer said as soon as he entered. ”At least I can safely get you onto the ship.”

Jiang Yichun patted his shoulder, ”Thanks, but we’re not planning to run away just yet. Let’s see the Emperor’s stance first. After all, we helped him uncover the traitors in his midst and preemptively thwarted Anben’s conspiracy.”

The Astrologer saw that the group was unusually calm, without a hint of nervousness, realizing they were confident and thus relaxed.

”If you need anything, you can speak up. No need to stand on ceremony with me. Aren’t we friends?”

Qiu Zhi laughed, ”We are friends and brothers.”

Bai Ruozhu looked at the Astrologer with more admiration. At times like this, many people dared not associate with them, but those who helped in times of need were true friends.

Of course, to the outside world, they seemed to be in grave danger, but from their perspective, it was far from being a crisis.

The Astrologer didn’t stay long. After inquiring about some matters, he promised to help guide public opinion outside before quietly leaving the Posthouse.

At noon, Otani quietly arrived at the Posthouse, confirming it was surrounded layer upon layer by the Army, just as the spy had reported.

He exerted much effort to approach the Posthouse, but as he was about to enter, he got trapped by an Array.

”Xiaoyuan, it’s our own people.” Bai Ruozhu immediately recognized him.

Yuan Licheng quickly controlled the Array, stopping the nails aimed at Otani.

Otani secretly breathed a sigh of relief, no wonder so many people outside couldn’t breach it.

”Greet the esteemed envoys,” Otani showed even more respect.

Bai Ruozhu waved it off, saying, ”No need for formalities; what did the Emperor say?”

”The Emperor said he trusts you and wants to know your next plans. He will fully cooperate,” Otani faithfully relayed the Emperor’s words.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, finally the Emperor did not let her down.

”Let the Emperor arrange to propose Anben’s acts of treason during political discussions, and then issue a decree to announce it to the world. As for the Crown Prince’s identity, the Emperor can decide himself,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Otani was stunned, indeed, he wasn’t clear about the Crown Prince’s matters before, was the Crown Prince not truly the Emperor’s offspring?

Bai Ruozhu saw Otani in a daze and directly said, ”Most likely true, and the Crown Prince is far from the gentle demeanor he presents; behind the scenes, he’s dabbling in demonic practices. Would the Emperor have guessed?”

”Demonic practices?” Otani was startled, ”How could he practice demonic arts in the Palace?”

Bai Ruozhu sneered, ”He naturally keeps it outside, or the Emperor can meet with Master Puru to gain more insight.”

Otani couldn’t digest all this information immediately, ”Then what about the Second Prince’s poison?”

”The poison was given by Anben. As you know, he’s a Poison Master, but the person who administered it was arranged by the Crown Prince. He has infiltrated many people into the Imperial Palace,” Bai Ruozhu spoke somewhat helplessly. The Emperor is incompetent, and you are his Guard Captain yet haven’t noticed a thing; indeed, like master, like subordinates.

”Then I’ll head back to report to the Emperor,” Otani, unsure of what to do, thought about quickly returning to the Emperor to report.

”Go ahead. It’s best to handle the matters I mentioned within three days; we can’t be surrounded forever. If, after three days, these armies don’t leave, we will take matters into our own hands,” Bai Ruozhu said with a murderous intent, causing Otani to shiver, realizing bloodshed was imminent.

”I shall return to the Palace to report to the Emperor,” Otani hurriedly excused himself.

Jiang Yichun looked at Mo Beishan, saying, ”Send a signal to the people outside to protect Otani.”

”Alright.”

Otani quietly left the Posthouse. Halfway, he felt something was off. Today was meant to be a secret trip from the Palace to the Posthouse, so he had not brought anyone along, going alone.

After serving the Emperor as Guard Captain for many years, he still had some sense.

He quickened his pace, as long as he reached the Palace Gate, he’d be safe.

Suddenly, four tightly clad ninjas appeared ahead, not only blocking his way but simultaneously throwing shuriken at him, intending to take his life!

He turned to flee, only to find four more ninjas blocking his escape route. His heart sank; would today be his last day?

In his mind, he rapidly calculated who might want to kill him: people from Anben’s or General Chisong’s faction? In any case, they did not want him conveying messages to the Emperor.

Perhaps they also intended to warn the Emperor!

Otani’s heart was overcome with a melancholy feeling but quickly reinvigorated himself. He couldn’t die here; if he died, what would happen to the Emperor? Who would protect him and inform him of the truth?
