Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2554: Chapter 2555: Harm Caused by Ignorance

”Hit! Beat this demon to death, so she won’t harm anyone again!”

”Yes, don’t be afraid, there are many of us, the demon can’t defeat us.”

Mixed in were the cries of a little girl: ”Stop! My lady is not a demon, she’s just sick, stop it!”

Bai Ruozhu faintly sensed something was wrong and rushed over.

She saw a group of people surrounding and beating a woman, but many seemed apprehensive, not daring to get too close. Even so, the woman being attacked had suffered many injuries and lay motionless on the ground.

A head of white hair had slipped from the hood – it was the white-haired woman Yaxi had mentioned!

”Everyone stop!” Bai Ruozhu shouted, her inherently strong inner strength combined with her imposing aura scared many.

She rushed to the woman’s side, raised her hand to push away a swinging fist, and then fiercely glared at the crowd: ”Who dares to try again! Get out if you don’t want to die!”

Though she spoke in Zhongyuan Language, most of the ordinary commoners here couldn’t understand it, but from Bai Ruozhu’s expression, they could roughly guess her meaning.

”She’s with the demon, must be a demon too. Everyone, don’t be afraid, there are many of us, don’t be afraid of these demons!” someone yelled loudly.

Before he could act, Jianqi kicked him, sending him flying backwards, tumbling and even losing a tooth.

For a moment, no one dared to act again, and everyone even stepped back two paces, increasing the size of the circle around them.

Bai Ruozhu hurriedly helped up the white-haired woman and then discovered that she had a severe head injury, with a large gash bleeding, staining her face red.

Bai Ruozhu brushed away the white hair covering her face and saw that she wasn’t Princess Diao Bin.

Though somewhat disappointed, she was grateful she came; otherwise, this innocent girl would have died here.

She hurriedly stemmed the bleeding on the woman’s head, and beside her, Yaxi furiously pointed at those people, scolding: ”You bastards, how can you cruelly beat a woman like this? Don’t you have daughters at home?”

Someone retorted loudly: ”She’s a demon, what’s wrong with us exorcising a demon?”

”Nonsense!” Yaxi yelled, disregarding her Noble Lady status, as she shouted at them, ”She’s a living person. If she were a demon, you’d be dead by now. Have you ever seen a demon unable to fight back?”

Many thought about it and realized the woman hadn’t fought back, perhaps she wasn’t a demon after all.

”But her hair is white, and her eyes are gray. If not a demon, what is she?” someone else said.

Bai Ruozhu took acupuncture needles to treat the woman without looking at those people, loudly declaring: ”She has a congenital condition, lacking melanin in her body, causing her hair, skin, and eyes to become pale. No one can choose their birth; who would want to be born with a disease? Her eyes are extremely sensitive to light, and her vision is poor. She can’t live like a normal person, yet she’s still a real person. How can you hurt her out of ignorance?”

Yaxi listened and cried, translating Bai Ruozhu’s words with a choked voice. Many understood, showing shame, though some remained doubtful.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t care about their thoughts; she only felt sorry for the woman, who had done nothing wrong.

The maid beside her, crying, kowtowed to Bai Ruozhu, ”Thank you, madam, for saving my lady. Thank you!”

”Get up and speak, don’t delay my treatment,” Bai Ruozhu said.

The maid, seeing Bai Ruozhu disliked her kneeling, quickly stood up and tearfully explained, ”I’m a maid of the Zhuye Family. My lady was recently adopted as the lord’s daughter. Our lord is knowledgeable and knows my lady is sick, but no doctor can treat this condition. She rarely interacts with outsiders, but since our lord’s birthday is coming, my lady came out to pick a gift for him. Someone knocked off her straw hat, then these people shouted to hit her, ignoring our explanations.”

The maid cried, having sustained minor injuries herself, yet her lady nearly got beaten to death!

Though the lady wasn’t the lord’s biological daughter, she was kind, and the maid adored her lady, feeling guilty for failing to protect her.

Yaxi comforted the maid, saying softly, ”Sister Ruozhu is a famous doctor in Zhongyuan. With her help, your lady will be fine.”

”Really? That’s wonderful!” The maid’s eyes brightened and tried to kneel again but was held back by Yaxi.

The onlookers finally believed, many dropping the vegetables meant for the ”demon,” while others sheepishly slipped away.

”Is she really not a demon?” an elderly woman asked.

Yaxi glared, ”Why would we lie to you? If we were demons, why explain to you, wouldn’t we kill you all?”

Bai Ruozhu glanced at Yaxi; this girl was fierce, quite straightforward.

”This, this...” The elderly woman looked ashamed, ”It’s our fault, we wronged this Miss.”

Bai Ruozhu had stopped the woman’s bleeding and pain, quietly taking some Hot Spring Water from Space to clean her, revealing a face nearly translucent but very delicate.

She then applied some ointment, and the woman slowly regained consciousness.

Upon waking, she showed panic. Bai Ruozhu hurriedly said gently, ”Don’t be afraid. I’m a doctor.”

She spoke in Fusang Language, saying simply what she knew.

”Miss, Miss, you’re finally awake. Does it still hurt?” the maid asked excitedly, rushing to the woman’s side.

”It hurts,” the woman said blankly, her eyes filled with tears.

Bai Ruozhu felt her eyes grow warm; the woman wasn’t talking about physical pain, but emotional pain.

Yaxi, equally saddened, hurriedly comforted the woman, ”I’ve explained for you, they know they were wrong. Please don’t be upset.”

The woman replied with an ”Mm,” ”Thank you. I should return home.”

Her mood was low, avoiding eye contact with Bai Ruozhu or Yaxi out of fear of interacting with strangers.

She quickly reached for her hood, anxiously placed it on her head, delicately tucking her hair inside, not wanting any part exposed.

Bai Ruozhu supported her, ”You’re injured like this; take our horse carriage to return home.”

The woman nodded, the action caused her wound to ache, knitting her fine eyebrows together.

”Thank you, I’ll invite you to my home for tea, okay?”

The word ”okay” was cautious, tinged with self-deprecation, fearing her offer would be rejected, fearing not being liked.

”Good.” Bai Ruozhu’s heart saddened, her voice trembling.
