Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2587: Chapter 2588: Stealing the Treasure

”Half? That’s not something I’m comfortable saying.” Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched, she really couldn’t bring herself to say it.

”Astrologer will definitely agree, being this generous, he’d be crazy not to.” Jiang Yichun said, ”I’ll talk to Astrologer about it, but you need to ask Gong Feng if he’s willing. If he doesn’t want to do it, we won’t force him.”

”Alright, I’ll ask him later.” Bai Ruozhu said.

After dinner, Jiang Yichun and Bai Ruozhu found Gong Feng for a talk. After sharing their ideas, Gong Feng’s eyes dimmed a bit.

”You’re leaving? Can’t I go with you?” he asked carefully.

Bai Ruozhu felt a sudden pang of sadness, he didn’t remember the past, nor did he have friends, the only people he knew were them, it’s no wonder he wanted to leave with them.

She thought for a while and said, ”This is your true homeland. If you leave, one day you might regret it.”

Gong Feng seemed puzzled, but nodded nonetheless. Somehow, these words reached deep within him. He vaguely felt there was someone here, someone he wouldn’t see again if he left.

Thinking like this, he was no longer alone, so he agreed to Bai Ruozhu’s proposal, but couldn’t help asking, ”You’ll come back to see me, won’t you?”

Jiang Yichun laughed, ”Next time we’ll bring our family and kids here, then we’ll stay at the Restaurant, make sure you run Welcome Guest well!”

”I surely will!” Gong Feng cheered up, his eyes shining with motivation.

When Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun returned to the room, Bai Ruozhu sighed, ”I wonder if Yanzhi will ever come back. I think she’s a Demon, born in Dreamland, maybe someday she’ll return. There are countless ties between them, perhaps they will meet again.”

”There’ll be a chance, didn’t you dream of Yanzhi before?” Jiang Yichun comforted.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”Yes, there’ll be a chance, though it might take long. Luckily, Demons have long lifespans.”

The next day, Jiang Yichun arranged to meet Astrologer, discussing opening the Restaurant. Then Bai Ruozhu brought up giving the Astrologer Family a twenty percent stake, but Astrologer said, ”That’s too much. We’re just helping occasionally, not needing so much.”

Jiang Yichun laughed, ”No need to be polite with us. This is my wife’s rule; everyone in Zhongyuan working with her gets twenty percent.”

Astrologer also laughed, ”Lady Jiang is very generous, I shall humbly accept then.”

”Of course, no need to be shy. You’re going to help, and you deserve it.” Bai Ruozhu smiled, ”Also, we’ll need your help in finding a shop and handling documents.”

Being outsiders, it was naturally less convenient than Astrologer.

”Alright, no problem.” Astrologer agreed immediately.

In less than three days, Astrologer found a shop and secured operating permits from the Government Office.

Bai Ruozhu and the others went to see the place. The shop wasn’t on the main street, Kyoto was bustling, and there were no vacant shops on the main street, even renting was difficult.

Although it wasn’t on the main street, it was easily accessible from there, and the street was wide enough for horse carriage passage.

As long as they operated and promoted well, the Restaurant’s location wouldn’t matter much. Moreover, their Restaurant was unique.

The first batch of employees for the Restaurant were all recommended by the Astrologer Family, Bai Ruozhu and others had no worries, so they focused on training Gong Feng.

”In your spare time, take a look at these recipes. Once you’re familiar, you can create new dishes yourself.” Bai Ruozhu fetched a recipe book from Space and gave it to Gong Feng.

Additionally, Gong Feng was honest and knew little about the business world, Bai Ruozhu spent three days explaining. Fortunately, Gong Feng being a Demon was inherently smart, quickly grasping modern business concepts.

So within days, the restaurant was being renovated, brochures circulated throughout Kyoto streets, announcing the grand opening of the very first Tangfen Restaurant!

Word spread quickly, the Emperor and Empress Shangzi in the Palace heard about it, and discussed visiting on opening day. They hadn’t enjoyed Bai Ruozhu’s cooking for a long time and craved it, and wanted to support Bai Ruozhu and her team.

Bai Ruozhu’s close Fusang Noble Lady friends also heard, especially Yaxi and Fangzi expressed excitement, insisting on coming to enjoy the food for three consecutive days.

Of course, She Zongyi heard as well, his disdain showing as he told his son, ”They’re doing business in Fusang? A strong dragon doesn’t suppress a local snake, they’ll see their tears.”

The Astrologer Family had been busy with Welcome Guest, but many had little confidence in Tang Feng Restaurant, fearing a bleak business despite the efforts, but it seemed the Astrologer Family wasn’t funding it, only receiving a twenty percent bonus.

Astrologer had been going out frequently due to this, more so than usual.

Outside the Main Residence, a servant was sent in to assist, his eyes gleamed as he finally saw an opportunity.

”Xiaohai, you’re tall, go inside and clean the Patriarch’s bookshelf thoroughly.” a steward instructed.

The man was overjoyed inside, though his face remained unchanged, he replied solemnly, ”Yes.”

”Clean it carefully, wipe it several times.” The steward urged.

”Alright, I’ll be thorough.” the servant nodded and bowed, carried a basin of water into the study room, wet a cloth, and began cleaning. The steward followed, overseeing him, satisfied with his meticulous and serious work, not missing a single gap, nodding approvingly.

Shortly after, the steward was called away by others, the servant’s eyes narrowed, quickly surveying the room.

He considered sneaking in at night when no one was around, but he had discovered the study room was protected by a barrier he couldn’t disable, entering it at night would be a trap.

So he chose to seize an opportunity during the day, after a long time of lurking.

Finally, his gaze fell on a part of the bookshelf, he walked over with a cloth in hand, pretending to clean, and discreetly took out books to gently wipe them with a dry cloth, portraying utmost care.

He rapidly glanced outside, seeing no one approaching, he quickly reached into the inside of the bookshelf, activating a mechanical within.

The bookshelf slowly opened, revealing a person-wide gap, he slipped inside, and the bookshelf returned to its original state.

The servant quickly found another mechanical, the Secret Chamber’s candlelight self-ignited, brightening the surroundings instantly.

He examined swiftly, but here wasn’t what was desired, could it be the treasure isn’t hidden here?

Was all his previous observation wasted? He had limited time; if he didn’t produce the item on schedule, that person wouldn’t spare her!

Growing anxious, his breath grew chaotic, yet he swiftly steadied himself, suddenly spotting a location, there it was!
