Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2588: Chapter 2589: It Must Be Him

Based on his experience, that must be a mechanical button. He cautiously pressed it, but to his surprise, there was no reaction.

The man tried various methods, like pressing lightly three times, holding it down, or even pressing it nine times.

Unfortunately, the mechanism didn’t budge at all. Did he make a mistake somewhere?

He raised his hand and suddenly noticed a bit of brown powder on his fingertip. He leaned in to take a closer look—it was dried blood!

His eyes lit up. This mechanism requires blood to open!

He hurriedly pricked his finger and dripped a drop of blood onto it. Sure enough, the mechanism opened, revealing the treasure hidden inside.

It was something like a compass, but he couldn’t understand it. He wasn’t concerned about any protection; his mind was on his woman.

He quickly wrapped the item and hid it in his clothes, then retraced his steps and continued dusting the bookshelf in the study room.

After a while, the steward came to check, saw he was doing well, praised him a few times, and let him leave.

The man didn’t rush to leave. He waited until the work was done and returned to his room to rest. Only then did he stealthily leave the astrologer family under the cover of night.

The astrologer returned home at night and quickly noticed something was wrong in the study room. He hurriedly asked the steward, ”Who came into my study today?”

”Patriarch, someone was sent to clean today and wiped down the bookshelf,” the steward answered truthfully.

”Go find the person who did the cleaning.” Regardless of whether something had gone wrong inside or not, the astrologer ordered the steward to fetch the person.

As soon as the steward left, he opened the secret chamber and went inside.

He quickly scanned the room; nothing was missing and nothing seemed tampered with.

But there...

He virtually dashed over—there had been tampering!

The bloodstains on top were new. Even though they were dried, it absolutely wasn’t from his previous visit.

He hurriedly collected some of it and carefully stored it in a bottle, then dripped a drop of his own blood on it to open the mechanism.

Inside was empty. His heart sank, but the astrologer’s face quickly showed an expression of ecstatic joy.

No, the loss of the treasure didn’t matter, someone could open this place!

A drop of blood was needed to open it, but it wasn’t ordinary blood that could do it; it had to be the blood of the astrologer family’s direct lineage—not even his cousin’s blood would work.

So someone stole the treasure, but they belonged to the astrologer family’s direct lineage, meaning it was his twin brother!

He knew very well his father only had the two of them. Later, due to some accident, he couldn’t have any more children. Otherwise, he was sent away at the time, leaving only his brother. But his brother was discovered to have physical abnormalities, unable to cultivate Yin Yang Techniques, and the family was so despaired.

Because at that time, the direct lineage only included them!

The astrologer swiftly dashed out of the secret chamber. If it was really his brother, he might have already fled!

Sure enough, as he went out, the steward hurried back in a panic.

”Patriarch, that Xiaohai is missing! Did you lose anything?” the steward hurriedly asked, rambling on, ”It’s my fault! Did I get fooled with some love potions? He was a newcomer, yet I let him in because of his hardworking nature?”

”He used Yang Techniques on you,” the astrologer said, but his tone didn’t carry any annoyance. Instead, there was some excitement, leaving the steward puzzled, wondering what was happening. Had nothing gone missing?

”Send someone to invite Master Bai from the posthouse, saying I have an urgent matter to discuss.” The astrologer said.

”Yes, I’ll go right away.”

Bai Ruozhu and the group at the posthouse were preparing to wash up and sleep when they suddenly heard someone say the astrologer urgently summoned them. They all immediately went out, thinking something major happened in the astrologer family.

When they arrived, they found the astrologer family serene, with nothing amiss.

Seeing a group of people arriving, each ready to battle, the astrologer instantly understood what was going on.

He felt touched yet amused, quickly saying, ”My fault for not explaining clearly; I’m not in trouble. I’ve found him.”

Bai Ruozhu instantly reacted, ”My senior brother?”

”Yes, today someone snuck into my secret chamber and took an important family heirloom of the astrologer family. But the mechanism can only be opened with the blood from the direct lineage of the astrologer family; that person must be my brother!” The astrologer excitedly said.

Bai Ruozhu’s heart tightened, ”Was it that Xinghai?”

”He disguised himself; the steward only saw a fake face. He used the alias Xiaohai, so it must be him. But now he’s escaped with the treasure.” The astrologer said.

”Why are you so happy even though he escaped?” Yuan Licheng said, speechless.

The astrologer didn’t get angry, smiling, ”It doesn’t matter, my family can’t lose connection with that treasure. I have a secret method to find its location.”

Bai Ruozhu was also delighted upon hearing this, ”Quickly confirm its location so we can pursue it overnight. If he hands it over to someone else, we won’t be able to track it.”

”Alright.” The astrologer immediately set up a magic array and quickly calculated the location of the treasure, which was moving northeast, already outside the city gate!

”Chase immediately!”

The astrologer quickly dispatched people to choose good horses, and the group, each riding, quickly galloped towards the northeast.

Unexpectedly, when they reached the city gate, it had just closed.

”I am Yin Yang Master Astrologer, and a demon has just escaped the city. Quickly open the city gate and let us out.” The astrologer raised a token. As a Yin Yang Master, he often needed to come out at night to catch monsters and ghosts, and would encounter situations requiring him to leave the city; with this token, the guards would open the city gate for him.

But today was different; the guard hesitated and said, ”I’m new here. I haven’t seen this token before. I can’t open the city gate casually.”

The astrologer squinted his eyes; how could it be so coincidental?

”Yin Yang Master, please wait a moment. I’ll go ask our boss. I’ll be right back.” The guard said respectfully, though his eyes didn’t show much respect.

Bai Ruozhu whispered, ”Have someone seize him for interrogation, saying he’s impersonating a guard. We’ll rush out directly.”

The astrologer understood and immediately gave the order for Zhitian to capture the person; they opened the city gate and rushed out.

A group of guards were alerted and quickly gathered at the city gate.

Zhitian held the astrologer’s spiritual tablet and blocked the guards’ path, saying, ”Astrologer Master is leaving the city to catch demons, and there’s an impostor guard obstructing him. Is he colluding with the demons?”

The captured guard kept pleading innocence, but Zhitian fiercely pressed his arm, ”Shut up, wait until it’s investigated.”

The guards were momentarily intimidated by Zhitian’s demeanor, and seeing the token in his hand, who would dare pursue them?

Just then, the person Zhitian captured suddenly leaped, his arm twisted by Zhitian. A cracking sound was heard, and he freed himself, risking the consequences of a broken limb!

The man swiftly darted into the night, and was apparently about to escape!
